Staff was so friendly and a great, cozy spot to bring kids. Biscuits were delicious!
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had...and I eat A LOT of shrimp and grits! I couldn’t stop eating the bread pudding which was free because we were celebrating a special occasion. Cocktails were well balanced and delicious. Could not recommend enough and excited to come back to our new local.
Food was excellent (as always); service was slow this time (but that was abnormal). Still our favorite restaurant in Old Town.
Excellent southern food. Stuffed date appetizer was exceptional. Efficient and friendly service. Highly recommend.
Absolutely one of the most amazing places I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining. 5 stars all around!!
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
We have been to Magnolia's numerous times. This was our first time sitting on the second floor and while it was nice, the noise from the bar and TVs made it a bit less desirable. I will in the future make a note for the first floor which can be busy but doesn't seem as noisy (guest dependent). Overall great food and cocktails.
Quaint, but not so quiet that you feel like people are listening to you. Excellent service & good food!
I brought my wife here for her birthday and we both left feeling like we got great food for great value.
Overall very good, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes and Gumbo were very good, pork tenderloin was excellent only downside was the chicken was a bit over cooked and dry
The service and people are great! There was a slight let down due to the food being too salty. Each year my friend and I pick a new restaurant to try in Old Town. Magnolia's on King was on our top 5 list. We finally got in and the start was on spot. The wine selection good. The waitress happy and friendly. The appetizer great size with wonderful taste. We were just let down by the dry tenderloin and salty shrimp and grits.
Great brunch spot with family! We enjoyed all of our food!
This place needs a good clean. We were seated next to the window and the blinds were filthy. Food was below average
The food was really great! True down home, southern cooking. It was delicious and very filling. The bread pudding is incredible!!!
Small dining area; not what I was expecting. There was a large group next to us, so noise level was elevated. Food was very good-the stuffed dates were amazing! Service(Vanessa) was very nice and attentive.
My family and I have eaten here twice in the past month, brunch only. The space itself is cozy and the servers are consistently pleasant and helpful with making selections. We've had the shrimp and grits, the chicken and biscuits, and frittata. All three are flavorful without being overseasoned.
Food was excellent, service fantastic!
Was not that impressed with the food. Shrimp was too spicy and the grits were not cooked enough. The short rib was kind of bland.
Atmosphere and service was great though.
We were celebrating my bday and our first time here..Food was excellent and the banana pudding was delicious 😊😊 our waitress was great and we will definitely return..
Fantastic Dinner! The Chef (Steve) came out and engaged with us which made it that much more special.
Food was great. We were the last guests for brunch. They were out of biscuits which disappointed my husband. They offered waffles as a substitute for the chicken and biscuit dish. Our server was great. He was very attentive. Great vibe with quality food...and Sangria
This was my second time going for brunch, but this time was not as great as the first. They’ve changed the menu around a bit and I found there were less options for me (a person who only eats chicken and fish). The chicken and waffles were gone (that’s what I went back for) and I was a little disappointed that I could not get the shrimp and grits without the ham. I ordered the basic breakfast of eggs, potatoes, chicken sausage and added on a waffle. It was a lot of food but the taste was bland. Not worth $14. The staff is very nice, but our server was a bit off that day. Still good despite forgetting a few things. Overall a nice low key place for brunch with a really nice and professional staff. Not crazy about this brunch menu, but I’d return again in a few months when they’ve hopefully altered it a bit.
Best brunch I’ve had in Alexandria !
Gene, our server was fantastic. The deviled eggs and the stroganoff were great and so were the drinks. Very cute and charming place with yummy food.
This place was damn good. All the food was great, but the grits were the best grits I've probably ever had, and that was just my side dish. I will definitely be back here.
One of our favorite restaurants in Old Town. We arrived at 6:30 sharp and Katrina greeted us as we walked in, confirmed our booking and had us seated. Steve, our chef, greeted us on the stairs as we made our way up – and gave us a quick review of the specials for the evening. We got a table in the Palm Lounge by a window overlooking King Street. Wonderful.
Neil, the mixologist, greeted us and took our Manhattan order as well as our dinner choices. My wife decided on the baked Salmon – and I ordered the blackened over the succotash base. Both the cocktails and the meals were terrific.
Prices are good and the ambiance was wonderful for a quiet conversation over a lovely dinner.
Definitely plan to dine here again. Magnolias on King is a class place and a real gem.
Went for restaurant week and loved their stuffed dates and shrimp and grits!!! Will definitely be back!
I loved it there. The food was great, the service was amazing. We really enjoyed our visit. The shrimp and grits were the best I’ve ever had
Very nice small intimate space. Great for casual conversations over a nice meal.
Had a great brunch on Sunday. We sat upstairs and while the tables were all full, it never felt crowded. The meal was excellent and I’m looking forward to my next visit!
We went for an early dinner and some drinks and ended up staying for several hours, thanks to the amazing food and drink. The other bar patrons were fun and entertaining as well. Can’t wait to go back.
We went for their restaurant week brunch. The food was amazing and flavorful. The environment felt very warm. I would recommend the shrimp and grits and the spicy crab dip to anyone!
The new fashioned cocktail is excellent. Ambience is quaint and relaxed. Staff is friendly.
Very fresh and delicious food. Staff was warm and friendly!
The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. I appreciate that while we had a designated server, other staff members came by to check on us, including Debra, one of the hosts. We'll be back to try other dishes, but also for more shrimp & grits and bread pudding!
Were there for Restaurant Week. Menu was fun, portions were large and food was solid. The bar got backed up, and it took 25+ minutes for the first round of drinks to come out. The place wasn't that busy, so the bar being that out of sync with the kitchen was bizarre. Also the RW dessert options were really limited. It was fine, but with so many good choices in Old Town, not sure if I'll be back soon.
Very disappointed that we chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday and anniversary - neither of which was recognized by the restaurant even though this information was included in the Open Table reservation. The food was excellent and the waiter was nice. However, the water insisted we order food with the drinks and said he would pace our food. The first course arrived after just a sip of what we thought would be aperitifs. Then the main courses arrived before we finished the first course. I asked if there was a rush for the table and the server looked surprised. There were empty tables the entire time we were there so not sure why we were rushed? Diners should also be aware that they may need to climb a steep fight of stairs to a dining room upstairs. We had only dined in the first floor dining room in the past.
Outstanding!! Service and food were great!! Went there for Alexandria Restaurant Week. Will definitely go back.
I dined here for the first time today. What better way to try a new place (or not) than during restaurant week! Service was good if not a little interesting given the busboy was no more than 10 years old. We had brunch and our food was very tasty. The shrimp and grits came highly recommended by our waitress and she was spot on. My husband thoroughly enjoyed it and said he would definitely order it again. I had the southern benefit which was also very good. So far this place has peeked our interest and we will definitely be back to try lunch and/or dinner.
