Great food, excellent service. Very enjoyable
Solid, tradional bistro cooking
Wonderful location for a large group to celebrate a birthday!
Service is always top notch here. We had a price fix dinner and a grilled salmon dinner. The wait staff is very good at explaining things and distinguishing rare, pink and then oh no well. One of the best wait staffs in NYC.
Good location , good table spacing, good food preparation though modest selection for prices makes it suitable for business lunch.
We were seated quickly. We were helped by the bartender in the upper room. The menu was spot on and the cook on the entrees was great. The side dishes were adequate and the desserts were good.
Should be better than it is. Needs a makeover. Kind of middling at best.
Excellent. The menu is not very French but the food is excellent.
A very reliable place with a nice menu and pleasant ambiance. Staff is attentive but not in your face. I’ve been for business and socializing with friends and have always had a good experience
Great hanger steak and they pour a terrific beverage.
Outstanding service by a very professional waiter. Very good food! We're adding it to our list of restaurants for a family event in NYC.
I've eaten at Madison Bistro many times and always enjoy the experience.
Lovely, intimate setting. Excellent moules frites and tuna tartare.
Had a very pleasant lunch. The mussels were tasty!
Classic, inviting, the artwork alone is worth the visit! Talent in both cuisine and medium. Thank you!
We enjoyed our experience here. The hanger steak was really good
The place is fantastic but my one criticism is the compactness of the dining area. It's overly tight and you are essentially sitting on top of your neighbor which can make having a private conversation overly challenging.
Every visit to NYC should include a meal at Madison Bistro. This is the French Bistro where the locals dine. Lunch time prix fixe is reasonable priced and the food and ambience are excellent.
My husband enjoyed his prix fix dinner. I found my chicken dry. I was not happy that the staff did not know how to use my open table reward.
My wife and I returned to Madison Bistro after long period away, with a French friend, and the 3 of us were delighted with every aspect of the dining experience. The Dover sole meunière was absolutely delicious, well-conceived and perfectly executed. Our friend, a Strasbourgoise, was quite pleased with the
Alsatian tart. Everyone in NYC does mussels, but my wife said it's been many moons since she's enjoyed them as much. Finally, Omar, the Francophone maitre-d'hote, took excellent care of us, pouring our wine
which has sadly become rare to non-existent in NY restaurants.
Yiu should offer decaf coffee and have skim milk...they do in Paris
The bar was full of loud drunks
The food was incredibly ordinary
Ambiance is great, service terrific. Loved the lunch specials options either at the bar or at a table for a prixe fixe
Elegant menu, well-prepared. Prix Fixe an added incentive to dine there.
My husband and I went to Madison Bistro for lunch. It was a really good experience. Food was lovely and the service was attentive and professional. Right in the heart of midtown Manhattan, a cozy French restaurant. We will be back many times.
Booked by accident on the way from the office. Great steak tartare prepared by the table side to your liking. I’m not a huge desert guy, but their soufflé is a must! They’ve very good, despite being relatively short, wine list. Quiet place that is great for both friends/colleagues get together to a date.
We needed a spot for dinner close to our off-B'way. venue. Not knowing restaurants in the area, we choose this one from the reviews and proximity to the show. It's name online is the Madison Bistro. The name on the awning of the restaurant is Cafe Francais. When we each mentioned this, there was surprise that we didn't know the correct name. It looks like a neighborhood bar/restaurant. We had the price fix dinner At $48 (6)? We each had a glass of wine, and ended up spending $75 each. for good food, but not interesting or worth the price. The wait staff was patient and attentive. I was disappointed and will not return.
Very nice and comfortable restaurant. Uses tablets to order food. Good variety of food. The steak and fries were delicious.
overall good experience. omelette could have been a bit larger, but it was tasty. slow on the coffee, could have offered a refill.
My husband and I try to come in every year during our Christmas shopping. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is yummy and the service is friendly and attentive.
Loved our dinner- the food was great and the service was terrific. Loved the bistro atmosphere- just wish it had been a little quieter. Hate having to struggle to hear my dinner companion
Very convenient to the Morgan Library. The French onion soup was superb and my vegetable omelet was excellent. very friendly service too.
One of the better Madison Avenue , E 30’s restaurants. Very good food and competent, friendly wait folks.
Very good business lunch venue.
The food is excellent, if a bit overpriced. There are very few bottles of wine for less than $50; most are in the $65 and higher category. Service was somewhat casual.
Truly a gem! I consider this restaurant to be one of those rare finds that surprises and delights. Attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, wonderful selection of food and beverage. Will return with friends to enjoy the experience once again.
Waiter was very friendly and attentive — if he took care of us from the very beginning. I would give this place a perfect score even if the food was mediocre. The person who sat us and also who took our order was meh. She didn’t wow us. When she took our appetizer order, she asked us to repeat because she has a “seat number” — take the order next time and figure who’s who instead of asking us to repeat in order of how you want it.
Although we ordered only a light lunch for four of us, food was delicious and the wait staff was very accommodating, allowing old friends a chance to catch up. A fifth person joined us for a short time and again wait staff did not miss a beat or blink an eye. A place was set and a fifth lunch was served at the same time. A return trip is certainly a good idea!
We 5 met for a family dinner with conversation, and the food, ambiance and prices were perfect for this. One foodie wasn’t that happy with the lobster lasagne, which he thought was dry and not of the highest quality. Everyone else was more than satisfied with the food.
The place is very quaint, however food was overcooked and quite salty.
The food was good, however too pricey for breakfast
