My midtown go-to for lunch (business or otherwise). The lamb sandwich is a must, but that's not to take away from the other options. It's not the quietest spot, but you can still easily hold a conversation.
Good wine selection, the service was excellent and friendly. We’ll definitely be back.
Food was fabulous! Ambience and service were excellent. Can't wait to go back for dinner
Dinner was very good. Very disappointed with the wine. They have a highly limited wine list and they were out of some of the wines on the list.
I met a friend for dinner. Floor-to ceiling windows were all open to the street, so quite a bit of rush-hour street noise came in. In addition, the restaurant itself was quite noisy and I had been looking for something a bit quieter. Otherwise, however, the food was quite tasty and the cocktail delicious. Service was fine. I would definitely go again and sample other items on the menu, although the choices were somewhat limited.
Madison and Vine was a bit of a disappointment. The service was slow. One member of our party ordered a Medium Rare NY Strip Steak. It was presented about 25 minutes later cooked Medium Well. The cocktails promised a lot on the menu, but were lacking in flavor or a unique signature. The chicken and vegetables were prepared well and the desserts were outstanding.
A couple occupied a table adjacent to us for cocktails only. They pushed their place settings to the side. When they departed, the server reset the table using the same place setting. Perhaps that is OK with the NYC Health Department. It would be a significant violation with our Fairfax County, Virginia HD.
Had breakfast. Food was just ok. Nothing to right home about. My frittata was very bland. Hopefully lunch and dinner is better.
Excellent service! I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
Food and service very good but the dining are is extremely loud and difficult to hear conversation.
This was just okay. Nothing great but we had a decent meal. We were hoping for a better NYC restaurant. Will try something else next time.
Over the years it has been a reliable restaurant. Food is always good and service is excellent. Only problem is the tables are very tight next to each other.
Overall good. A place I repeatedly take business contacts to dine at. 2 Salads were ordered with missing ingredients + the waitress never came over until very late in the meal to check on us + never acknowledged the missing ingredients. Also, the restaurant was not busy at the time.
We choose to eat at Madison and Vine without knowing much about it. The food and service were both outstanding. Especially loved the tuna tartare, veal meatballs, and braised short rib. We'd definitely eat here again!
Always delicious, especially the lamb sandwich. Not a quiet spot, but can easily conduct a conversation without yelling. Service is attentive but not oppressive. One of my top 5 business lunch spots in midtown.
Way too noisy had to look for the waiter a few times.
A very nice brunch with family. We werew disappointed that they did not have any iced tea on this summer day. Also, I had the cobb salad. When I asked if there was any other dressing besides the balsalmic vinegrette, I was told they had no other dressing for the salad. Otherwise, a very good meal.
We have stayed at the Library hotel a few times and each time we ate at Mad and Vine. From the hostess to the servers, bartenders etc.,we encountered smiling faces and excellent service. We liked it so much the last time we brought our son for the lunch meal as we were all in the city but just for the day. Our son loved his food and we did also. Ww highly recommend this spot for a meal-whether its at lunch or dinner time
The lamb meatballs were very tasty. The braised short rib pasta with ricotta was delightful. Very extensive and reasonably priced wine list. Open air seating on quiet library row street made for great date night dinner.
We arrived late for a 2pm reservation but luckily they had capacity. Hostess was very accommodating and asked for seating preferences. Ambiance is nice and mellow at that time of day.
Food was tasty. However, I would not expect a large vein in a $22 steak sandwich. That was not pleasant.
Service was slow. It took 30+ minutes for a sandwich. (It was late afternoon and many tables were available.) We had to flag down the hostess when ready to leave after waiting 10 minutes. Other staff were friendly and helpful.
The check was wrong - initially had three main courses for two people. They were apologetic and quickly corrected the issue.
Overall, it was an okay experience due to ambiance, location, staff friendliness and tasty food (except for that vein surprise).
From excellent customer service
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Though not very large, the restaurant was busy during our meal. Busy in a good way. Madison and Vine, appears to be a local neighbor restaurant where folks come for a drink or casual dinner after work. The food was very good and my wife said the fries were to die for! We'd definitely would come back!
Love this place i m a regular it is near by Grand Central conviniently located, would love more pasta dishes
I've eaten here three times, and the last two were not a good experience. The waiter was annoyed that I asked him to write down my meal request as I have several food allergies. I gave him my order before my colleague joined as I didn't want to come across as high maintenance. When the food arrived, it was all wrong. I was embarrassed in front of my colleague and the waiter came back to confirm two additional times after the error. It was also incredibly loud - terrible acoustics. The vegetables were not even fresh -- I'm pretty sure they were frozen. Not a place I will eat at again.
Have enjoyed evenings here a few times. Everything is excellent, including the welcome, atmosphere, service, creative beverages, fabulous meals and the service. Looking forward to the next visit!
Nice street-side setting in a convenient, great mid-town location. Food was ... good and fresh, if not terribly creative or rich/ flavorful. Portions were small .
I had a 12:30 reservation arrived at 12:25 and was told that there no table available and would not be for 20 minutes. The excuse was that at 12:25, all the diners were t"lingering" and thus no table was available.
They were not prepared to seat us when we arrived on time for our reservation. We were asked to wait 20 minutes past the scheduled reservation time.
Food was good. Bartender and wait staff were horrible. The worst Bloody Mary I ever had.
Very noisy, small portions for large cost, staff throwing plates around. Very diner like ambiance. Not aiming to go back.
Food was OK but just that!
I had better food for less but it is the place for The Who and who to watch and be seen.
In other words presumptuous.
If it was not in its location owned by its owner, it would have been more down to earth and worth the experience.
I will not go again unless I have to.
Had lunch for 2 on a warm spring day which was enhanced by the wall of windows being opened allowing a breeze to filter in. The space is small but the majority of tables are for 2 which gives the space a larger feel. The service is very attentive without being intrusive. While the menu items are restaurant generic the food is quite good and well presented. I would recommend a visit.
We had a great brunch for mother's day. The staff was great and the food was wonderful. Highly recommend the B.E.C.
We went for brunch, which was lovely. The restaurant could not have been nicer. They were going to open the doors, and on a nice, warm day, it would have been fine. As it was, we were there for Mother's Day and they are on the shady side of the street, so it was a bit cold and windy. They responded by leaving the doors closed. I thought that was great. The menu was awesome, and the food lived up to the menu.
Ideal spot for a quite breakfast meeting in an upscale environment near Grand Central.
The Asian salad and the crusted tuna were excellent as was the panda cotta. I would definitely dine here again.
They didn't have my reservation from OpenTable. I showed them the confirmation email.
Service was slow. When a waitress spilled water next to our table she never came to dry the floor. Sort of a weird dinner and I don't think I need to go back there anytime soon
I am a regular diner here. For reasonable prices, they have an excellent and diverse menu and consistently pleasant personnel. The have a good wine selection available in many cases by the glass.
I love the open-to-sidewalk ambiance and their roof-top facility. Over all, the vibe is great!
We were traveling in after a vacation and the staff was gracious to wait for our late arrival. And we again enjoyed the delicious veal meatball appetizer, a favorite; and our entrees, her chicken and my bolognese, were both well presented and flavorful. We also enjoyed nice wines which complemented the dishes well. The food was great, and the service augmented our experience!
