We really enjoyed our dinner: food is amazing; the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful! The only part that can be to better is to have more shade for our outdoor seatings. But overall, really great experience!
Service impeccable, glass of champagne on the house (birthday dinner) was a nice touch. Starters and entrees were solid but nothing special. No love on the dessert side, maybe the dessert chef had a day off.
Worth trying once, but will not repeat.
The food was not worthy of a Michelin 1 star restaurant. Service was excellent but it did not make up for the problem with the bees on the balcony. It was not possible to dine outdoors with these pests. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate bees! We cannot live without them but I don’t like them pestering me while eating and it was particularly hard on my septuagenarian companion. We moved indoors and hoped that the Delta variant of COVID wouldn’t be a problem.
Beautiful mountain view. Above and beyond service. Delish food. Could not have been happier. We brought our two pups to dine with us on the outdoor area and the staff treated them like first class citizens with fresh water and dog bowls. Definitely coming back soon.
Breakfast omelette was bland, potatoes mushy.
The terrace at sunset is gorgeous, with excellent food and attentive, yet comfortable, service. One of the best summer dining options on the peninsula.
Excellent farmer's market salad as usual, either with the addition of prawns, or salmon. We didn't try the addition of steak or chicken, so I am unable to comment on it. Service was good and we were adequately separated from other diners. Beautiful surroundings and ambience. The server was busy and brought the dessert menu after a long wait following the clearing of the salads. After much debate, we decided on the black sesame ice cream, but found, after another long wait, that the server forgot to mention that it was not offered that day. Hence the four, instead of five stars.
Peter is simply outstanding in his role as a server. He displays true hospitality start to finish-so personable, engaging and striking the right cord on attentiveness. He is an exceptional and rare representative at Madera, where over time we have had very poor food and an equally disappointing dining experience. In the past, staff arrogance and food quality significantly impacted our perception of the Madera restaurant. Even the wonderful setting could not sufficiently overcome the appalling lack of hospitable staff and poor food Thought we would try again with your new chef and to see how your staff treats guests. If all staff conducted themselves like Peter-who we understand has been there for years—you would see improvement in the inconsistency in your ratings. We will ask to be seated at his station in the future wherever possible. He gets that to the guest, he is the brand. He is Madera. Bravo, Peter!
Food was mediocre. Chef’s salad had a bad dressing. Chilaquiles was soggy chips. French toast bland. So disappointed. Service was so annoying. They kept coming over to us as if there was a table afterwards when the restaurant was half empty.
more vegetarian selections/options for brunch, please
Amazing food, good service. The crab starter was really good and the steak was really good. The Brie cheesecake was weird a bit but still pretty good, we preferred the tart.
Overall excellent place to eat. The view of the hotel is also amazing.
We had the set price menu and the appetizer and entrees we had were outstanding in all ways. The desserts were a failure and need to be reimagined. They lacked visual presenation and flavor. Everything else was outstanding !!!!
Ate there on July 15, 2021. The server was very nice as was the environment however the salmon was awful - completely bland and the couscous was a strange and unworkable pairing. We've been to Madera several times and it just never meets expectation.
Great! Professional,quality food.
I love the food, service and ambience at Madera.
Another fabulous evening at Madera. The service staff - excellent.
Much worse than it’s used to be: poor selection of food (not much to choose from); cheesy policy (you have to pay your own bread now); not very attentive service compared to other 5-star hotel restaurant. For the price they charge, you surely don’t get the value back. We will not be back as there are too many other great restaurants in Bay Area!
Always a crowd pleaser- wonderful 3 course menu. Good value too. Wine list is overpriced but a good one! Have been before and will go again. Professional and attentive service.
Overall ok experience. Service is outstanding. Taste, presentation can be better for Michelin start restaurant. Portion is in smaller size. We like the starter and main course but I feel like the desert fall short.
Wishing there were more dinner menu items than the fixed price… they were out of some items & the time between courses was excessive
Excellent business lunch location.
Service and view never fail.
It was a wonderful time with friendly service, good food, and amazing views!!
Outdoor dining for lunch felt like we were on vacation. Lovely food and servivce.
Really enjoyed it. However, it was difficult to understand on Open Table if it was poolside or in the restaurant. Was not clear on your website as well. I had to call front desk to understand if lunch menu was a la carte or prix fixed and about the seating. And could not directly call the restaurant. A little inconvenient. Will return!
The food was good, pricey. The price for a glass of white wine was offensively outrageous. So, no one order one.
Lovely and I want to go back
Perfect service from Peter and the rest of the staff
The view is gorgeous. You can see the mountain and the swimming pool downstairs. Food is delicious with local and seasonal ingredients. The flavor is strong, balancing between savory and acidity. Some highlights: iceberg lettuce salad is beautifully made and refreshing; dungeons crab is fresh but kinda salty; New York strip is absolutely tender where the ratatouille really blows your mind in a subdued way. Comparing with appetizer and entrée, dessert is a bit sub par. Overall experience is wonderful. I’d like to come back when menu changes for new season
Quality and presentation of food was disappointing for a high end hotel/restaurant. I will not go back.
They put a candle in my dads dessert which was a very thoughtful touch for his birthday. He’s 64 and works in the food industry, but never gets to treat himself to fine dining. This was a very special and memorable occasion - thank you Madera team
It was great—food, service, ambiance.
Went there for our anniversary dinner. It was Prix Fixe menu with choices. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was great!
Breakfast was basic and uninspired. Served cold food omelet and potatoes. Breakfast potatoes were cold and had no seasoning.
Enjoyed a great Sunday Brunch. Our server was a delight and the food was delicious. Madera never disappoints and we were so glad to return to one of our favorite places and see it unscathed and unchanged post-Covid!
Celebrated my one year anniversary here a year after also meeting my girlfriend here for our first date.
The server got our order wrong and the food was not as we had expected from before.
Madera offers a beautiful dining room and patio, stellar service and delicious food. This is our second stay at this pretty property and all the staff greeted us by name. Darling Audrey at the front hostess stand and awesome server Nancy remembered us immediately. Peter, Kevin and Eric are all great too. Breakfast and lunch daily were delicious- you can’t go wrong. I would recommend sitting on the pretty patio. We only had dinner once during our stay - the steak and the sea bass were excellent.
Such a lovely spot!
All guests really enjoyed “everything”!
Horrible service. The waiter was rude and incredibly slow.
It was a great place to have business meeting.
