I was a little disappointed with the cut back of their menu. This was a great place when they first opened but now not so much. The servers don’t wear the uniforms to give you the whole feel for the place.
We had a man who was clearly intoxicated come up to our table 3 times. The first time we were polite and waited until he left. The second he came back with a friend and again we were polite until he left. Both times we gave short answers and did not really interact. The third time he came alone and sat down at the one empty chair at our table. We all just tried to ignore him when our server came over and recognized we were uncomfortable. He asked the man if he needed anything and when he walked away, I could tell he was going to get a manager to handle the situation. Before management came back, he grabbed my friend under the table so I ended up yelling at him to leave and made a scene because why should I care if I am rude to a stranger who has no respect for anyone else. But the manager, our server, and one other worker came by as this was happening. They made sure we were ok and also made sure that someone walked us to our car when we were finished eating. The man and his friends stayed at the bar and kept starting at us throughout the night, but the manager himself and our server escorted us from our table to the front door and then to our car. I've worked in food since I was 16, and I appreciate how they recognized there was a situation without us verbalizing it and taking the necessary steps. I cannot remember our waiter's name unfortunately, but he did a wonderful job reading and addressing the situation. And the food and drinks were great!
Love their happy hour menu! Those cheese steak egg rolls are to die for... And you can't go wrong with a $2 draught.. favorite new spot
Very good time! Great food ! Tables are spacious chairs as well
We had an excellent experience and everything was delicious!
Fun and lots of great drink ideas
Had a birthday dinner for my daughter with a party of 10....Food was really good!!! Service was fast...Everyone there, was really polite nice chill environment....
The virtual games are too much money
The wings are good
Fun atmosphere and friendly service. Food was tasty. Would definitely recommend
Great place! Delicious food and drinks. Ambiance was great. All decoration staffs and costumes was like real. Server Enes was awesome he was so nice and he did good job thank you
It was awesome place ...
Be a Survivor :))
Very different, nice decor, delicious food. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.
Out waiter, Enes, was the best! Had such a great time! Also the food was good too!
Very interesting. Will go back again
Food was great but took a long time to come out.
It was so fun. It was hectic because it was so busy and it was Valentine’s Day but it’s worth it!
Waited over an hour for food that never came. Will never go back
The server was an absolute sweetheart but the meal took well over 2 hours and the place was fairly dead. Food was middle of the road- we got steak and lamb. They comped is dessert without asking. I would try this place again but only for a bar experience.
Fun times Good food
Loved the unique atmosphere and the ability to not only have a great meal but also to engage in virtual reality experience afterwards. Really great family evening for us.
Food, service and ambiance was perfect. Dennix was a great server as well. Will definitely be back.
This place was awesome! It’s Valentine’s Day which mean restaurants could get extremely hectic, I know because I’ve been in the business, but they held it together! Well my server did at least Denix! He did a great job of keeping me and my wife informed of any possible delays and did an overall fantastic job with us. This place looks amazing too! Food was good price! Steaks at other restaurants could go for 50+ but not here. And it was really good on the rock. Can’t wait to come back next week. Hopefully my server is on.
My fiance and I had a great time at Mad Rex! It was pretty busy so a little chaotic. We ordered from the survivor menu, which was a great deal for steak; however, I paid extra for this experience and ordered scallops, which didn't really didn't need much cooking time and were small compared to a steak. The food and drinks were great, though, and the whole vibe was really unique and fun!
Great food super service
We had a fine time over all.
Our waiter was, literally, ill stating he couldn’t speak any louder because of is throat. The hostess could not accommodate us for at least an hour for the VR experience because of equipment malfunctions. We had wanted to have some drinks and do the VR before dinner (which is why we arrived at 5) but that didn’t work. The survivor menu was OVERPRICED! I got 4 scallops for $30. There was a smear of parsnip purée but nothing else. WHAT?!?!
We had a party of 5, spent hundreds of dollars and left hungry.
The place looked nice, very cool decor. The online menu must be out dated because lamb lolipop was not on the menu in the actual restaurant. It was freezing cold in there, there was only one server who was serving all the rooms and the floor so he wasn’t able to come to our table much. The mashes potatoes are watery, over priced... I was extremely disappointed. The employees were very nice. thats all i can say really.
Our server was amazing! The food was great and they sang to my boyfriend. LOVEE this place!
Great place to have dinner! Staff was super friendly and the food was amazing!! The decor was outstanding! So glad we got to experience this place!
This place had some much potential that just went to waste. We had an 8:00 reservation and was told we could not be seated for 20 mins and they would get us. They forgot to get us so we had to go up to the front after about 30 mins and then when we looked the place was not busy at all! Several empty tables!! Also, The menu had several things that they did not have available , and then we didn’t get any good for like an hour they were reaaaallly slow! Now, I’m talking an hour for appetizers and then like another 45 mins for entrees.! When we looked in the kitchen it seemed like everyone was just standing around!! We saw the bad reviews but tried to give them a chance. Unfortunately, everyone was right. I’m rooting for this place!!! It is a fun and interesting place compared to other restaurants! C’mon y’all get your act together!!! This place could be a real winner!!!!💕💕💕 The best thing about our visit was the bar! The service was attentive and the drinks were on point! Go there until the rest of the place improves!!
YOU WILL WAIT A LONG TIME FOR SEATING AND FOOD... RESERVATIONS DO NOT MATTER.
The people working were nice so its not a comment upon them- this is a management issue. It’s not the same restaurant since when it opened. Regardless of reservation time and notwithstanding the fact that the restaurant isn’t crowded, you will be forced to wait another 15-20 mins and directed to their Virtual Reality Lounge to encourage you to pay to play their system. Frustrating! The lava rock cooking experience is something neat to do.
Arrived on time for our 7:30pm reservation for 6 and were told that it‘d be a 25 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up. They wouldn’t seat us even though there were plenty of open tables on a Monday night! We had a couple folks who hadn’t tried virtual reality yet so we were glad to have that as a diversion, although it’s a bit pricey at $1/minute. Our server was nice but it was hard to hear him since the bar was so busy, and drinks got delayed. My friend ordered a cocktail which she thought was terrible and couldn’t drink— this got taken off our tab. They were out of crab dip, scallops, and lamb... all dishes we considered ordering. Food and portion sizes were good, and the salt slab survivor entree was fun to experience. Prices a bit on the higher side. Roasted brussel sprouts were delicious and the lobster pasta was very good, but chicken BLT was just okay (good flavor but chicken dry). Overall, go for the ambiance/decor, VR lounge, and a salt slab experience, but keep your expectations for the food and service low and you’ll have a good time.
MadRex was terrible. We waited over an hour for our food. First, the kitchen was working on it, then they were backed up. Our server avoided us knowing we were angry. I spoke to one of three clueless hostesses and her answer to me was “I don’t know what to tell you.” When the food arrived, it was cold and greasy from sitting. Our burgers came out at the same time as the apps - there were raw parts in the burger. Was sick most of the night. Just awful
Service was good , our server was great & food and drinks came out pretty fast . My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves and coming back again
Set at the bar bartender Steve makes a great margarita went to the Filmore for a concert which is right around the corner very convenient
Awesome. Delish and a lot of fun!
Horrible experience at Mad Rex. Waited 45 minutes for our main courses when we had told them we had a show at the Fillmore when we first arrived. We had to leave without eating in order to make the show, just paid for our drinks and appetizers. Will never go again.
Terrible, terrible service.
Cool concept for a restaurant. Great food, both of our appetizers where excellent. Each of us ordered the Survivors Menu items. One Boneless Rib Eye and a Salmon. Both were delicious and fun to cook and eat!!
Restaurant has lots to look at and within walking g distance to the Comedy Club and The Fillmore. Would eat there again for sure.
I dined at Mad Rex with a group of 10 people. The service was not great - we waited quite awhile for certain drink orders, 2 burger orders came out incorrect, and one person's entree took a long time to arrive. However, the food and drinks were all really good! We did voice our frustration with the service to the manager, twice. He understood and assured us that he would do something to help us out. He ended up taking off almost half of the total bill...and for a party of 10, the bill was very large! So, even though we were frustrated throughout the meal due to the sub-par service, the manager took care of us. The food and atmosphere were both really good. The manager said he was working on improving the overall service. If the service improvements are put in place, I would highly recommend Mad Rex!
We have been coming here for years, but I doubt we will ever be back. The ambiance remains the same, which is clearly the main draw, but everything else has been left to suffer. The menus have changed from apocalyptic leather bound tomes to laminated sheets of paper. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks and half our party's food was never rang in at all. The Himalayan cooking rocks are showing their wear, and one of ours has a huge piece missing. I'm not someone who likes eating until the whole table is served, which is impossible to do here unless food comes out at the same time due to the rocks cooling off quickly. So half our party watched us eat until their lackluster pita pizza that looked like it was uncooked and heated under the lamps in the window made its way to the table. Additionally, our food came before the sauces and sides we ordered, and when sauces did come they were neither flavorful nor very appetizing, and our meat was already cooked and getting cold. The sides were still good, and the appetizers were tasty. Come for drinks, apps, and vr games, dodge the sit down dinner entirely.
