Small place with lots of decorations that could use a cleaning. The food was OK the brussels sprouts were good the Brie was fine. 3 of the appetizers listed on the menu they were out of. ordered “home made” Pasta that was OK, that I could’ve definitely made at home. Ordered fish and chips that was greasy and the fish wasn’t cooked all the way through on all of the pieces. Was not offered a drink refill or dessert not sure if they even have dessert menu. the drink menu was large but not very unique. I expected more from this restaurant. If you want a quick bite this may be the place for you. seems like more upscale bar food than a bistro.
Loved the make your own eggs benedict. I had the basil hollandaise sauce and it was a great mix of basil and lemon. The mimosa selection was great for brunch! Fun place with my girlfriend to catch up with over brunch.
Love this place!
We drove almost 4 hours to be very disappointed. Waiters had a lot of drama and it was very noticeable. They didn’t care about experience people were having and over all the place was not well kept up. This place did not meet up the expectations for what blogs make it seem like. We even heard a comment from someone else said, “and this is why we have the reviews we do”. Now it makes sense. The place was in a really good neighborhood and honestly and for a Bistro expected good experience. And I’ve had better treatment at a Starbucks. I sad that a place with that much “fame” had such poor management. Just like any other industry, fame does not define one.
Traveled over three hours, food was ok. Service was horrible. No parking. Unprofessional.
Always a delight- every time we visit this restaurant, we are very pleased with both our meal and our service. Highly recommended.
Mad Hatter is a fun, casual place to have burgers, wings, and drinks..
Fun ambiance and great servers!
So much fun! Food was great, we had the basement to ourselves but that didn’t mean the service was lacking st all.
Another great night at MadHatter. We had the chicken and fish and chips. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try something different. Highly recommended.
Took the kids for dinner - food and service were impeccable. It was quiet because it was dream cruise, but the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. We’ll be back.
They didn't have a few things on the menu that we wanted. It was poorly marked on the paper menus. The food fish and mac and cheese was very bland. My older kids were here a few years ago and wanted to take me here for my birthday. I was very disappointed with the whole experience.
Unique spot in Birmingham. Cute place with interesting menu. Server, Sean, very good.
Some updating/maintenance in order, however. Menus had x over items no longer available & menus looked dirty. Time to retire those & make some new ones. Restaurant & decor very clever, but seemed a bit worn. Things don’t appear well maintained. Hoping those aren’t bad signs that things aren’t going well & no funds to do routine maintenance.
I would definitely recommend to anybody who wants delicious food!!
Fantastic ambiance and delicious Eggs Benedict! The service was prompt, and the prices are super reasonable. Can't wait to go back!
My friend and I had a lovely time and hope to come back again. :)
Always a great experience at Mad Hatter. Sean and his team provide the absolute best service. Killer food - the kimchi Mac & Cheese was to die for, and his beer recommendation was perfect. Dessert, shots, appetizers... not one thing is less than exceptional. I always look forward to an opportunity to dine there.
The service was a bit slow and I was having a bit of claustrophobia in the basement part of this section but the soup was good and the brunch menu was really great. I will be back!
Wouldn’t ever recommend the “red velvet and blue moon flavored” pancakes to anyone ever unless they are looking for food colored bisquick. Absolutely disgusting. Waiter forgot my order of Mac and cheese so I didn’t receive that until the other person in my party was already finished with his meal. No, I absolutely won’t be recommending this place to anyone but I will recommend iHOP if they want a pancake that actually tastes like a pancake. YUCK!!
Everything was delicious, truly one of the top in metro Detroit. Nice taste for music too.
We were so impressed with everything! Jason was our server. He was outstanding! He was very attentive, friendly, and gave us exceptional service! The food was amazing! We loved the different teas that we sampled! The artwork was phenomenal! We travelled over 3 hours to visit the Mad Hatter for my daughter’s birthday and we plan to do it again! We had brunch on Sunday and would like to experience Afternoon Tea next time we visit. Well done!
We sat for 20 minutes without any service. After talking to the hostess, they realized their mistake and tried to make it up to us. The food was good. I didn't care for the party next to us that was cussing up a storm with young kids at tables around them. No consideration. I wish management would have addressed it.
Awesome! I highly recommend this place. A very cute whimsical place with great food and drinks!
The only thing that turned me off, was our server was the bartender, even though we weren’t seated at the bar. Her focus was definitely on the drinks for other tables rather than us. The food was great. The drinks were great! I’d definitely go back.
Cute place, great food wonderful service with a smile. I have always enjoyed my experience with this fun restaurant.
Our group had an amazing time and cannot wait to go back! The food and drinks were fantastic, the employees are super friendly, and everything was just awesome!
We decided on MadHatter for a birthday brunch. There was 2 of us. The ambiance of this place is amazing. It is full of little pieces of whimsy & surprise touches. They offer a full bar with phenomenal liquor choices that cover both traditional brands as well as craft labels.
Kyle was our server as well as the female bartender (so, sorry I don't remember your name). Service was flawless!!! Any questions we had were answered with detail. We never felt rushed even though we knew our reservation was slotted for 90 mins.
The Food.... The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND DIDN'T DISAPPOINT!!!!! We ordered the brunch burger. It was phenomenal & cooked to order perfectly. The red potato hash as the be one of the best things I've ever had. I have no shame & ordered some to go also. We also ordered the chicken and waffles. It tends to be one of our go to's when we brunch & y'all nailed it. The waffle was so fluffy & almost had a slight hint to chai tea taste to it. The chicken was so flavorful, moist, had the perfect crunch and a little heat at the end. That in combination with that sticky sweet Maple bourbon syrup was HEAVEN!
We had also wanted to order the sticky toffee bun but unfortunately they were out. I'm thankful they were though. We ordered a side of Mac & Cheese instead and it slaps! So damn good! Super cheesy & great herbed breadcrumb topping.
Also GET THE CREAM PUFF!!! Screw the diet, get the puff, savor the house made chocolate sauce with the delicate slightly crispy puff and THANK ME LATER!!!
As always, the food and drink were perfection and the service was outstanding. I joined the “Gris Club” and I’m looking forward to my next few visits and finishing the tour.
Place was a bit rundown. Waitstaff seemed distracted. Small lunch menu.
The theme is what got us here in the first place and we were not disappointed!
Food was delicious and served with a smile.
The food was amazing, and Jason our waiter was great!
Delicious brunch with fun twist on a great selection of menu items. Loved the brunch drink options, and the build your own egg Benedict. My daughters enjoyed a hot tea served in fun cups and a sweet tea pot~ exactly what you’d expect in this mad hatred themed gem!
It's a very small venue. I would say it's shabby shiek, Meets Alice in Wonderland.
It was cute but not what i expected.
The food was ok. I wanted to rave about this place , we were excited to go , maybe i expected too much.
Was looking forward to visiting, drove from other side of the state. We made a 2pm reservation, arrived a little early and was seated promptly. Then found out brunch was being served. Had looked on line at the menu and was excited to try somethings. No we're did it state brunch being served that late. We would of adjusted our day.
Had to come here again for the shrimp and grits. Delicious!!! Plus the atmosphere here is great. Always good food and fun times to be enjoyed.
Excellent food and service!
We went as a double date with some friends and had an excellent time. The food was full of flavor, creative, and well made. The atmosphere was thought through and fun. Your downstairs is yet to be completed as of June 2019 but is better than the main level. It is full of cleverly decorated Alice in Wonderland pieces. The best spot to take photos. This should be completed asap.
Recommendations: Keep the online menu and printed menu updated including desserts.
This was my second time coming and I brought my grandma who absolutely loved it and enjoyed her time there. The food and drinks were great cant wait to go again.
I wanted to check out Mad Hatter for a while and was not impressed. The service was pretty good, besides the burger! That was delicious! Everything else was just okay and overall seemed to lack seasoning...nothing that I was really excited about or that I would want to order again. I likely won’t return.
The food was great and the emplyee team was awesome. We had a wonderful experience!!
Great food, drinks and ambiance
