We had a super nice server. Food need some work. Beets in salad undercooked, hard and crunchy. Black and blue burger was a bit dry, fries were delicious. Churros were also slightly overcooked, but dessert was still good.

Service was not good. Waited about an hour for food and then order was wrong. Compensated by two drinks. They also thought we did not show for reservation. Will not return. Not sure where the problem was - server or kitchen.

normally it’s a great experience but the service was slow and it took about 20 minutes for someone to come over once we were sat and ask us about drinks. I think they were short staffed but I did notice that we had different servers throughout and they seemed sort of disinterested. for a saturday night, I was surprised. this was a little bit of an odd dining experience this time.

My husband and I really enjoyed our first visit to Mad Chef. I had the rockfish special. The skin was crisp and delicious and the red pepper purée was so good I could have eaten a bowl of it as a soup. My husband’s steak was cooked perfectly. The mixed drinks were awesome. The only thing I didn’t really enjoy was the beet salad. It was a little bland and really needed some acid, I think maybe they just forgot to add the vinaigrette. The zeppole dessert was hot and crispy. The lemon zest added to the chocolate sauce for the zeppole was a really nice touch. I would definitely go back.

Too bad that they don’t have a Virginia location! We met for lunch yesterday because it was a convenient location for my nephew, who is in Maryland, and for us in Virginia. The menu is fabulous as is the food. Our server was efficient, professional, and personable. If I happen to be in Ellicott city, I would definitely return!

We truly enjoyed our dinner at MadChef tonight. We went early (5pm). Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Drinks were tasty and well apportioned. We had the mussels and tuna taquito apps; both were enjoyed, but taquitos were very good. Main courses were steak sandwich (very good) and OG burger; also tasty. Fries are so good! Ambience and noise level were very good!

Restaurant has a lot of hard surfaces. Sound travels all over. Difficult to have conversation and we were there on an off-hour. I can’t imagine how loud it is when busy. Meals were so-so. One of our party along with me had the blackened fish sandwich. They were both good. Another guest had a burger and liked it. My wife had a burger which was not good. So overall we were not pleased with the quality from the kitchen. The wait staff were very pleasant. So the lunch was not a disaster.

They were able to change our reservation 2 hours ahead of time. The food was tremendous, the wait for food was a bit long granted they were very busy. I just wish they had a longer on tap list.

Our servers, Ashley and Jen were great! We had guests from out of town and they loved the pork chop, the beet salad and the mussels! We were disappointed with the high prices on rail liquor but the wines on tap were really good. Our favorite local place for happy hour and dinner!

The cream of crab soup was to die for! I've never had cream of crab with that many big chunks of crab before- and I've had a lot of cream of crab soup in my life! Everything we had was really good. Can't wait to go back.

We picked this place due to its reviews and proximity to where we were heading after dinner. Turns out this is a place to pick because it's awesome, period. Staff are friendly and efficient, food and drinks are excellent. Has outdoor dining if the weather allows it. Indoors ambiance and decor is wonderful as well.
