Mad Chef Kitchen & Bar
great service, good food. very quiet for a business meeting
A bit too loud for good conversation, but food and service was excellent.
Ethan was THE BEST server ever!!!
Kind of a strange meal, in terms of results. Clearly, the chef is highly talented. However, the meal had very mixed results. Tomato bisque was excellent. Calamari was very tender, but not crisp on the breading and very, very greasy. Oil not hot enough to properly cook it? Crispy fish and chips was good with a mountain of fingerling potatoes compared to the fish - which was properly cooked with a light, crisp batter. The scallops were crusted beautifully, but were brought to the table barely warm. How can that happen unless it was prepped and then just set around? The purple sweet potatoes and the rest of what accompanied the scallops were excellent. To their credit, they comped desserts which were excellent and a large portion. We will be back because of the obvious capability of the kitchen.
My meal was a complete hit. I got the beet salad topped with shrimp and a side of sweet & chili cauliflower. My cocktail was also yummy, some type of seasonal margarita with a brown sugar rimmed glass. My husband got the lamb burger. He ordered it medium and it came out well done. If he gets it again, he will order it medium rare.
Love the small plates , desserts and drinks. The quality is always the same .
It was a nice night. The venue was very noisy, especially since the table they gave us was right near the door and near the live music and bar. However, they switched is when we requested it and the room in the back was better... Though still loud. The server was great! The food was good. I had the paella which was good until the last couple bites where some burnt bits really interrupted the great flavors.
It's a nice option for dinner.
The food is absolutely delicious here. We had delicious guacamole and chips to start and ordered cauliflower as an appetizer - so good! . I got the tuna entrée which was out of this world. Service was outstanding. Very accommodating in recognizing our friends’ birthdays. Attentive, friendly, delicious. The atmosphere isn’t anything to get excited about but everything else is.
Good food but expensive!
Food was amazing. Service was great. Cocktail menu was also delicious. I would definitely recommend this place!
Extremely loud but server very good and food excellent! Not the place for nice conversation though. My daughter and I had to literally keep repeating!
Food and service were both excellent. We will return
One of the beat meal we have ever had. Calamari was fresh; the drinks were awesome and the seafood pot was out of this world. The dessert of donuts and nutella was ridiculously good. Our server Ethan was so informative and friendly, he was terrific! We shall return again.
Initially was seated by a wall with not much room, but we were easily able to be switched to one of the many other tables that were not so closed off. Nice menu choices, flavors were good but not outstanding. Will definitely return to try other selections.
Somehow it doesn't seem fair to always rave about Mad Chef. They earn it though. We love it! It's our #1 go to. It's got a neighborhood vibe without being cheesy. The food is always flavorful. There are routine menu and drink specials. Excellent and attentive service. Management is always visible and interacting with guests. We've never been disappointed!
Mad Chef never disappoints. My only struggle here is to choose just one thing. The ahi tuna dishes are awesome as are the scallops!
Great value meal. Only downside is the noise with the concrete floors.
Retake on the filet was exceptional, as was the mako dinner special. Dessert (s'mores cheesecake and out old favorite, bread pudding) was delicious. Also enjoyed seasonal cocktail, apple cider martini was on par. One can never go wrong at Mad Chef. It was the first time Oscar took care of us, he was attentive but not annoying. Christian was his usual hands on self. From the door to dessert, Mad Chef is hands down one of our go tos.
- Celebrated 34th wedding anniversary... was wished a happy anniversary. Neighboring table was offered a complimentary champagne toast. (Also celebrating anniversary) We weren’t offered the same.
- Waitress didn’t return our to-go food.
Great Happy Hour location and great food. Wait staff and bartenders are very attentive. Always enjoy are visit!
We went for my birthday! We love this place. Everyone liked their food. My tuna dish wasn’t my favorite but the dessert was exceptional. Our waitress was very pleasant but soft spoken which was hard with the music in the background. We will be back but next time will get my favorite which is the fish and chips!!!
Very good. Enjoyed ourselves at this new place.
I got online to check out your menu since I was bringing friends along to try out your restaurant. The menu at restaurant was different. I ordered the Seafood Pot and it did not have lobster in it but it had lobster broth yet the menu price was the same. For the price, I expected a little more seafood but bulk was mussels and clams...didn’t feel I got what I paid for (compared to other places I have had it).
Made a reservation the same day, it was my wife's birthday. They offer appetizers that can be a meal which my wife likes. Food was very good
Service was great. We didn’t care for one of the appetizers (nothing wrong with it just wasn’t something we cared for) and he took it off the bill without us even asking. We’ve eaten here many times and are always pleased.
We enjoyed Mad Chef especially the outside seating on the beautiful night that we dined there. The food was good but nothing spectacular . Nice for a casual neighborhood dinner .
we have gone to the mad chef a number of times, bringing friends or family, since we knew the food would be good. This time it was OK, but the help is just not friendly. Our waiter was OK but the girl who brought our salad out was more than rude. She brought out a Caesar that two of us were going to share and it was in one big plate. So I nicely mentioned that it was supposed to be split, she put down the plate and said well that isn't my fault. When I asked her for another plate to split the salad she almost threw it down on the table. Our friends were amazed at her behavior. I actually apologized that it usually isn't like this. I think a lot of the help could use a lesson in smiling and meaning it from some of the greeters to the servers. They always look like they are overwhelmed and confused. Will give it another shot but if this overall unfriendliness continues we will go some where else. Plus the menu is getting a bit old.
We didn't listen when others wrote that the seafood pot was "so so". Unfortunately, it was true. The stock was thin and much less flavorful than other Cioppino's we've enjoyed. It was served with a single slice of grilled bread, but they did bring more when requested.
The roasted sweet chili cauliflower was more sweet than chili, limp, drowning in sauce and in need of salt.
When asked about a couple of the wines, the server was at a loss and returned to say their manager had no information either. Vivino helped us out instead.
Seating outdoors was the saving grace on a lovely September evening.
Offers a great appetizer happy hour! The happy hour wines are not tha best selection, but that's personal taste. Beer list good. But, dont let that keep you away. I have never had a bad meal and the service is probably best in the surrounding area. Bar service excellent and super clean. Lots of tables in bar area as well as restaraunt.
The chefs dishes are made with fresh ingredients. Desserts are outstanding as well as their daily soup. Salads fresh.
I feel prices fair on the menu, but the daily special can be on the pricey side (i.e. fish), but was perfectly prepared.
Pretty darn expensive and the food wasn't that grand; I had a special cocktail, appetizer, entree and dessert with coffee which cost a whopping $88.00 for one person. The blueberry margarita was small and didn't taste all that great; the french cut lamb chops were gritty (yes, gritty) and overcooked, the dessert was the bread pudding. The coffee was French Press (you can't ruin that)....everything was presented superbly but I cannot say the food tasted all that great. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it.
We had a great time, the service was amazing, the food was incredible
Fantastic service and great food!
The service is outstanding...Second time at this restaurant...Food is good to very good, but pricey...Not convinced the price meets the expectation for a pricey restaurant...Dined outside, which we requested...inside noise level makes for difficult conversation...Inside temperature (August) a little to chilly for my comfort...
Our serve Ali was very patient with us. We were catching up with a friend that we had not seen in years. It took us a while to order. The guacamole was delicious. I ordered a grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was just right! We sat outside and it was simply divine. Overall great experience, we’ll be back!
Great food and drink choices and service.
We enjoyed dining outside. Our server, Ben, was friendly and took care of all our needs very quickly.
Expensive noisy not much decor and small portions for the cost. Server was fine.
Outstanding flavors in each bite.
The white wine initially poured @ room temp. But once it was chilled, really complemented the salmon dish. Apps were wonderful, all in all delishes! Definitely a must return!
I took my mom and uncle out to celebrate my uncles birthday. When booking the reservation online I indicated that we were celebrating my uncles birthday and was pleased to see the staff acknowledge his special day from the time we arrived until we left. Everything we ordered was well prepared and delicious. We had the pig wings - Amazing!, mussels- flavorful and fresh, crab cake sandwich, lamb ragout and scallops. We also ordered desserts and all three of us couldn’t help but to comment throughout our meal about how delicious everything was. Our server Mario was very friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely return!
