Super food great taste and good value
AC was turned on too high. Bad service when being seated but great service for remainder of the visit.
The food is very good and reasonably priced! One minor issue is that they had the AC on full blast, so it was pretty cold. Luckily, we were able to move to the back of the restaurant which was a bit warmer. Overall, we had a good experience here.
We got the unlimited mimosa brunch for 1.5 hours. 3 types of mimosas, which they encourage you to try. Huevos rancheros were our meal of choice and delicious.
Food and service was not good this time or the previous time I was there. Seem's like they are more interested in their guests on the other side of the space in their sister restaurant, Barraca.
Service was even worse. They seemed to be overstaffed yet no one was paying attention to us except to hover to refill the thimble size water glass when I could have just as well have done it myself since the bottle was on the table.
The real kicker was that they were missing simple menu items (arepas and french toast), and when we replaced it with another simple menu item (jamon croquetas & pancakes), they brought out granola instead of pancakes and the croquetas came out pre-frozen, pre-fried reheated and burnt and then re-heated again to room temp.
Great place for a weekday dinner with friends, the tuna tacos are very very good. The service could've been better though
The food here is so delicious and creatively done so well. Drinks are also tasty. Only thing our waiter looked a little disheveled but was super nice. Could have had our drinks moving to the table a little faster but this doesn't deter me from returning.
Nearly the worst experience ive ever had. Showed up 5 min early for first reservation of the day so they weren't open yet, they wouldn't sit us and we awkwardly stood right outside the (open) front watching them chat among themselves until it was open...
The only other table which was filled during our whole meal was seated nearly 3 inches away from us, so close that we kept bumping into each other in a virtually empty restaurant. But that wasn't a problem for long when the chef refused to prepare one of the party's orders without a sauce so they got up an left.
They than made a mistake on my order (which was quite clear and unambiguous) and when i requested the correct one come out they told me id have to wait 30 minutes. Not eating eggs, the balance of the menu, i was left to sit without a meal.
A side of bacon took three requests after the initial order due to the kitchen being backed up because the sister restaurant which head nearly 15 people in it (our restaurant we were the only party) so i guess that was understandable ....
its a shame because another dining experience there was quite enjoyable.
Our server was attentive. Grateful that they placed us in the back where we had a dining area all to ourselves, away from the noisy birthday brunchers near the front of the restaurant. The ceviche and poké were delicious, and the sangria was just what our group needed.
Do not order the special of the day ever!
The whole night started good and ended up one of our worst dining experiences.
The waiters were slow and kept pouring the water everywhere on the table and we had to ask to get napkins because it was so wet.
We bypassed that because we were having a good time.
We ordered one of their specials, a 2.5 lbs of ribeye and we were it'd be enough for all. Worth $100.
Well guess what? It had 3 tiny potatoes and the ribeye was 8-10 oz maximum with a bone that was almost as long as my arm. We were doubtfounted !!
The chef insisted that that was a 2.5 lbs ribeye. We left hungry and went for pizza.
These people think you are dumb and that you haven't eaten a ribeye before. Insulting.
Always great service and food!
Our waitress was wonderful and so was the food, but it took a long time for our food to come and the people at the front were fairly unaccommodating
The fish tacos were amazing 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
The waitress was super attentive and helpful, you won't be disappointed!
My favorite place to go with friends. Great food. Great staff.
Had brunch in a large group. Hada reservation , but still had to wait for being seated just because one of us was late.
Great ambiance, friendly service, not the fastest servers, terrible food, not a big selection on food items. Is a pass for me.
so great! Excellent brunch deal- try all the mimosas before choosing a flavor for the open bar. And the arepas are to die for!
The GM Luis was amaaaaaaazing
Exciting menu and the food is excellent but service was slow and a few of the items we ordered never arrived.
We are huge fans of the Macondo West happy hour menu, and eat there often However, we were very disappointed that their happy hour ended at 5, instead of the usual 7PM on 5/5, which was not evident on the Open Table page when we reserved our group for 6PM. Alas, we could not afford the oysters we were so looking forward to that day. It would have been appreciated if the restaurant and/or Open Table had let us know of the change.
Among the worst experience at any NYC restaurant (I've been here for 10+ years)
We were the only table that evening, and there were three servers, completely disorganized.
- Drinks unacceptable, tasting like dirty water. Very slow
- Service is among the worst I've ever seen: forgetting orders, need to be reminded several times. Forgetting to clean the table/ change plates, fill glasses with water, dirty dishes, etc
- Food was variable, some orders were OK, others below par: half of my guests did not eat at all
- Ambiance is overall OK, however music selection is quite poor, and freezing A/C was blasting over our table (despite not needed: it was a pretty chilly evening)
Very surprised how such a restaurant could be still around in NYC
Good location with an interesting menu if Latin food. I had the eggs and chorizo with some areas that were really well prepared. The service is a little off, seems we had 3 people coming by and none took ownership of the table. Most notably the place was extremely loud. I don't think a brunch spot has to be that loud. I was literally yelling at the person in front of me. Overall good food but bad ambience.
Had a great time there! Food was amazing. Many things to choose from. Would recommend!
Good food fun place
While the food was quite good, the service was decidedly sub par. Entire dishes were forgotten, cocktails remained unreplenished, and the timing of the service was barely a consideration. Do not recommend.
We had a great time with delicious food, great drinks, and an excellent server named Irene from Barcelona. We will definitely return. It is well worth the money.
Empanadas were outstanding
It gets loud. However, great servers and food was delicious.
HORRIBLE. food was under-cooked and took a long time to get to us
No mainstream, which is good in my opinion. We were two and we've enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I would recommend to go there. If you wanna go to the nearby Smalls Jazz Club it will double the worth of any distance travelled. We did, we were happy and we had a decent night - Cheers
Server was slow, but was kind and apologized about it. Food was really good, our table was close to the door so very cold whenever it opened, and the noise level is high but it's a very fun time for brunch with a small group.
If you're a large party doing the bottomless brunch, you have to be diligent with your server. They're stringent about the 90 minute time limit, but are slow to refill your glasses.
Other than that, the food is great and we had a great time.
We were seated next to the door on a very cold Saturday night. It was difficult to really enjoy our meal because we were all sitting in jackets, shivering as patrons walked in and out of the restaurant. We asked to move tables, but there weren't any available for 4, only 5 plus, which was frustrating so see open tables in the corner. Since they were unable to move us, they sent us a free carafe of sangria which we greatly appreciated.
Be prepared to wait. Wait for your table. Your drinks at the bar. Your appetizer ordered at the bar (which will show up mid-meal and cold at your table). Then you'll wait some more for your first round of small plates: your second round: oh, and your third. They'll forget an order altogether and then offer one random (clearly mistakenly made) cocktail to your table of six as an apology.
If you want a scene and poor service, this is your joint. Steer clear otherwise. Most disappointing part - the food was actually pretty good. If only the front of house could get their act together.
Came here for early Valentine's Day brunch! Even though they were very busy our server was excellent about checking on us and kept our glasses full with drinks throughout the brunch. Food was great as well - definitely get the guacamole!
I was not happy that we had to move from where we were seated...if they had been more organized I would not have gotten comfortable and then been moved to another spot that was much noiser. But the service was attentive and the food was very good. Delicious burger and a yummy flan and churro dessert for two off the brunch menu. Plus you cannot beat the bottomless mimosa deal for 15 bucks. They were gracious enough to give us an extra 15 minutes ( almost 2 hours as opposed to 1.5 hours for the bottomless mimosas). I would return...and try the french toast next time! The guy sitting at a neighboring table had it and it looked DELICIOUS!!!
Except for ceviche we tried, food was mediocre. Service was very slow as well.
Great service and margaritas!
I had been here many times for brunch, and decided to throw a surprise party here. Not only did they accommodate my party of 14 in the private dining area downstairs, but they made sure the element of a "surprise" party was met with fidelity. The food was delicious, abundant, and flavorful. I'd HIGHLY recommend this place for any type of brunch - parties, casual, formal, and even an intimate brunch date. I absolutely LOVE this place and will certainly be back for many times to come!
Service was terrible. The waiter disappeared, forgot our appetizers and messed up our entire order.
