We had a great time! It was our first visit, and we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. Harmony, our waitress was very attentive, suggested items and explained everything to us. She left us alone, so we could enjoy our dinner and drinks, but if we needed her she was right there. The Filet Mignons were cooked perfectly and mouth watering. The ambience was great and not too loud at all. She told us about Wednesday's wine special of half off on bottles of wine $99 and under. We took advantage of the special. We even got a free dessert with a candle in it for his birthday. We will definitely be coming back for dinner, lunch and even cocktails!
Pretty expensive for average service, average settings, and extremely small servings. Wasn't offered the dessert menu as they were starting to clean up. The famous is where it's at.
This isn't our first trip to MacKenzies and it's always very good. The drinks were perfect and the service was great. I ordered a Filet and my husband had the Surf and Turf. Both were very good.
Our crab cakes were burned, our medium rare steaks were burned. We asked for a traditional bourbon sour and got sour mix with a splash of bourbon. My martini was all juice. We used to love it but the last 2 times we have been there have been awful.
We were seated in the bar which was ridiculously loud. On one side of our booth was the bar with the blender and people talking over the blender and on the other side was an area where dishes were being bused which was constant clanking and waitstaff talking. We could barely hear each other across the the table. Our dinners were good, but, our waitress forgot one of our desserts and the other dessert, a New York Cheesecake, was pretty much inedible. Unless you want to be part of the bar crowd, insist that you not be seated there for dinner.
The food was ok but not for the price next time we want a fancy getaway I guess we will hit an Arby's.
MacKenzie’s consistently delivers a quality experience. The service was outstanding for us as Kevin provided top notch attention without being overbearing. Two of us enjoyed the Sea Bass and it was light, creamy and very tasty. Another had the Cioppino and while he wasn’t as happy as those with the Sea Bass, he didn’t leave a drop in the bowl so it must have been pretty good. I also added the French Onion soup to my dinner and really enjoyed it. They have a unique take on that dish. For some, it might have a little too much bread and too little soup but I still found it well flavored and hearty enough. The atmosphere was louder than usual the night we went but that was attributable to a large group of women that were seated close to us and having a good time. Normally, MacKenzie’s is on the quieter side which is nice for a business dinner where you need to have some conversations.
This was my first time to Mackenzie’s and I was very disappointed. The service was good and my waitress was very nice, but for $150 for my meal was unacceptable. My steak was not cooked to how I requested it, and my steamed asparagus and mashed potatoes were subpar. Will not be back.
The Cesar salad was totally unremarkable. Mainly just chopped lettuce with a SMALL bit of dressing. Disappointing. We tried to order quiche, but the reason for it non availability was not clear— as if the server was trying to make up reasons.
They can and must do better.
Mackenzie's is always first rate, and our latest visit did not disappoint. The ciappino was outstanding. We will come back again when we visit Colorado Springs.
We had previously been to MacKenzie's but this was limited to only the bar, which was good. This time we experienced drinks and meals in the regular dining area. Despite being very busy the ambiance/atmosphere was good, our server was great, and the drinks and food were perfect.
We highly recommend this fine restaurant, but consider obtaining reservations in advance.
We went here off the other reviews and didn't want to go to a typical chain restaurant. The food was delicious, great service and good environment. The servers and bartenders were great! I will for sure go back. If I had to say anything negative I would say the mushrooms were too salty but other than that the food was great!
Great atmosphere especially for a special night out with your spouse. Make sure to tell the waiter that you want the Happy Hour price or you will be charged the regular price if you are sitting at a table. This should be automatic, and the waiter didn't change it back to the lower price once we figured it out. That's not cool. It is a little pricey, so save it for a fancier event. Medium rare is very close to rare there, so Medium may be a wiser choice for steaks. Overall a good experience though.
We have visited many times and always enjoyed the evening. On this occasion the waiter served the wrong dinner to my wife (not what she ordered), but the alternate was good and the waiter adjusted the price. We will continue to return to MacKenzies for special occasions.
Awesome dining experience. Great atmosphere. Terrific service. Best food in Colorado.
Wonderful to return to MacKenzie's , has been at least a year since my last dining experience . Greeted warmly by Oscar who was our waiter and he did a superb job. Food was excellent, just as I remembered.
Great salad, good prime rib and excellent wine. Nice comfortable seating near the fireplace.
This is unquestionably the best place to eat. Of the steakhouses in town, and I've tried most of them, I will spend more to eat here than pay less to eat elsewhere. They are that good!
Had an amazing meal at MacKenzie's on Friday night. The seating was intimate and perfect for a quiet celebration. Everything we ordered from appetizers through dessert was perfectly prepared. Can't wait to go back.
Food quality was not as good as in the past and super disappointed they took the Monte Cristo off the menu
