Machete Tequila + Tacos - Lodo Ratings and Reviews
We came in on a Saturday night with a group of 8 ppl. My first impression on walking in was - wow, there's a lot going on here. It was very loud and dark. The décor was quirky and eclectic. We ordered chips, salsa, and guacamole to start with- nothing annoys me more than a Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa. We ordered the platter of 12 tacos--- trying everything from the lobster to the beef tongue. Nothing I'd write home about or go back for. My friends did rave about the chicken quesadilla- so if you go, try that.
Loved the decor. It was rather warm inside with the sun coming through the big windows. The tacos were good, however from the description I thought they may have a more unique flavor. The shells didn't hold up, especially the squid ink ones. It was great that they had a kids menu.
Right across from Union Station, Machete was a great find. Yummy apps and great selection of specialty tacos. Started with fundido and sampling of tasty salsas. I had the vege taco with spaghetti squash and crispy kale and the chicken mole - yum! The arrichada taco was a favorite. We would prefer to have chairs that had a back. We were at a high table. It is lively and noise level is high. The Service was wonderful and we will definitely be back!
I've been to this location once and the Cherry Creek location twice. They have reheat margaritas - and they are STRONG. You might want to pick DD. I also really like the vegetarian tacos. Right now the chef's seasonal one had sweet potatoes and kale...very good!
I was visiting from out of town for work and needed to reserve a table for 6 for lunch. I used the online booking tool to reserve the table. The tool allowed me to reserve a time and provide some details for the reservation. I let them know it was for a working lunch and asked for a table with some additional space and off to the side for the least amount of noise and distractions. The staff was able to accomodate. The staff was great and the food was great. Thanks!
Went for my birthday celebration with some girlfriends. Very accommodating and friendly staff and good food. Loved the decorations. The drawbacks? Although I wanted a fun and lively ambience, it was too loud. The large size of the tables make it hard to carry on a conversation across the table. Also, the margarita's were not consistent. Every time we ordered another marg, it didn't taste like the first one . At our table 3 ordered the same margarita all different tastes. We had to have them remixed several times and still didn't taste right. We left with half of our drinks not finished.
Went to checkout the Union Station and then headed up to the Art Museum. On the way back we decided to give Machete a try since we have seen them at other food and wine events. The food was awesome especially the tacos that had an unique flare to them. The tilapia with aioli was fabulous as was their ceviche taco on jicama shell! Lots to choose from but nice that everything was sharable small plates. This place was an awesome find and the atmosphere was unique - or a little strange to us - but the food was awesome!
The food here is fantastic, the drinks are delicious, and it worked out fantastically to book the private room for my fiancee's 30th birthday party - we had about 15 people in the room comfortably. The private room was was a great area to sit and eat, and quieter from the rest of the restaurant. Did I mention that the tacos are delicious? Also, the staff was very friendly! Kevin was our waiter, and he was very good managing a large sporadic group. Thanks to the folks there for the great food, great margs and great atmosphere! Highly recommend for a fun evening.
Don't go here if you want to have a conversation with your companion(s), as it is extremely loud and the music blares. That said, if you are looking for a "happening" place, with a lively, energetic scene, to drink and eat specialty tacos, the place is great. The service was very good, and the drinks were excellent. The menu is unique, and 4 of us tried a platter of 8 tacos, as recommended by our server, who was great. The tacos were very tasty. I recommend this place if this is the atmosphere you are looking for.
We went here for a date night because with our busy lives it's hard to have one, and we had a blast. The service was incredible. We had Jessika? She was awesome. So helpful, gave us complimentary cookies and took care of us all night. Also loved the host who sat us. He was so nice :) we will definitely be going back again, not only for the delicious food and incredible drinks we had but because the service and atmosphere made it an incredible place to have a fun date night.
The service was incredible. We were seated immediately upon our arrival, and our server was friendly and had terrific suggestions for us to try. The manager also joined us for a bit. Our group had a wonderful time. Love this place and will recommend it to all of my friends who are looking for an energetic evening out.
The tacos were delicious and the service was great. The drinks were on spot. I ordered their habenaro infused tequila margarita and let me just tell you, they are not messing around when they say it's hot!!! I love hot and that was right on spot! They have tons of different tacos to choose from, and dont forget Sunday funday, its happy hour all day! We will definitely be stopping in again.
We got to Machete at 11:30am, and it was pretty quiet. The service was friendly, albeit a little slow for me, since I only get an hour for lunch. We ordered the guacamole and 4 salsa selection, both of which I would highly recommend. I got three tacos, while my dad got two - I probably would have been better off with two, since you get so much guac with your order. The tacos were good - definitely for foodies but kind of difficult to eat and my tortillas were hard, so I couldn't eat them and just ate the filling. I'll probably try something else next time, because I'd like to go back for the guac and salsa.
I did not have any of the tequilas, so I cannot comment on that selection.
2 of our party of 4 arrived 15 minutes early at 8p and we were seated right away, which was great but when the other 2 arrived they were told I did not have a reservation so they went to the bar as they were unaware we had arrived early. Maybe the reservation was marked closed/completed after 2 of us were seated early? The service was attentive & the food was excellent. A few different servers brought our items & our waitress was super sweet. Since I had asked about corn tortillas, she realized I have a gluten sensitivity & was quick to point out there is flour in 2 of their 4 salsas which I very much appreciated! A male server who was very familiar with their tequilas helped us with those selections--loved, loved the Crema recommendation!
