Macelleria Italian Steakhouse Greenwich
hand cut filet mignon, capers, tabasco, aioli, egg yolk
chicken breast, crusted parmesan, lemon, white wine, seasonal vegetables
diced smoked pancetta, pasta & beans
Expensive, but excellent food. Service was polite and knowledgable. Friendly. About half the tables were occupied and ambience was on quiet side which made dining more enjoyable. Fireplace added coziness.
Delicious meal and service at Macelleria Steakhouse! It is pricey, so plan accordingly. There is no red wine by the bottle less than $100. I think this is a shame and should change.
Excellent service owner very attentive staff very attentive as we’ll
We went for dinner on New Year’s Day. It was our first time at Macelleria and it was great! The ambiance was cozy and inviting. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season! We started with the calamari and the octopus appetizers which were very good. My husband and I had pasta…I had the pappardelle with short ribs and he had the carbonara. The pappardelle was fresh, housemade. Not sure about the pasta in the carbonara, but nonetheless, both were fantastic. My kids both had the filet and both said it was outstanding, cooked perfectly to order. Service was pleasant, attentive, happy to cater to any request, and our head waiter had a great sense of humor. We would absolutely come back in the future!
New year Eve
A lovely evening. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and the service was great.
New Year’s Eve 🎉
The food was delicious and the staff was attentive!
The new iteration of this restaurant was very well done, more upscale now. Food was very good, healthy portions and a good value. Staff is professional, very pleasant. Perhaps not the broadest wine list.
This location has housed numerous restaurants over the years; some good, some fair. This is the best of the lot in my opinion.
We heard mixed reviews and wanted to try for ourselves. To start, there was no cocktail menu. The endive salad was soggy and not attractive to look at. The Burrata was so cold it hurt my teeth and the tomatoes were not properly ripened. The diver scallop entree was over salted and just average. The short ribs with risotto was pretty good but I’ve had better at many other restaurants. I’m thinking we will pass on this restaurant going forward. The prices are pretty outrageous for what you are getting. I love food and have NEVER before written a poor review like this.
Excellent. Would definitely return!
Macelleria very generously sent us a $50 holiday gift card for their location in Greenwich. The restaurant is very pretty and cozy, especially this time of year with the fireplace. The food was absolutely delicious. My only dissatisfaction is related to the value. The prices were too high and/or the portions too small — if the portions were even just 15-20% more, my perception would be very different. For example, the chicken martini (truly INCREDIBLE, $34) had 2 small chicken breasts, 3 sprigs of asparagus, and a piece of a potato. That’s just not a complete meal.
Consistent, excellent quality of food and service. Great for business, group get togethers or date-night.
Main courses were excellent
I would skip the apps, not so great
Excellent new restaurant
Food is outstanding
Service is wonderful
Our 1st time- will definitely return
Service needs improvement, two different people came to ask for our drinks, waiter served tap water over our premium spring water, we got the bill twice at the end. Need to coordinate staff, is all about training and coordination of waiter logistics.
Good wine list but overprices.
Food excellent but overpriced.
Great Italian steakhouse with excellent pastas, steak, appetizers, and salads. My friend and I split a pasta dish as an appetizer and the had a steak each. It was a good meal in a great atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.
Very enjoyable and tasty meal! Waitstaff was so professional- the best I have experienced. Cuisine was superb, even the shrimp cocktail appetizer was so large & scrumptious. Plenty of parking. To avoid stairs, walk around to the sidewalk entrance.
The service was friendly, welcoming, generous and attentive.
The food quality is impeccable. Fresh and amazingly flavorful. The sauces did not overpower and were a perfect compliment to the dishes. The tiramisu was the best I have had.
This is our 2nd time eating at Macelleria in Greenwich. We plan on making it one of our go to restaurants.
I have enjoyed dinner at this new restaurant…while i understand they had an event Saturday night it does not justify the poor quality food we were served. The branzino was just very watery as it was like having a soup of fish that tasted very bad. Branzino is best when it’s crispy and grilled. The salad was not properly mixed with the dressing…parts of the greens were very sour and had too much vinegar and no olive oil. The pappardelle pasta was just bad and the sauce had a horrible smelled. The stake was too rare for a medium rare request, which further confirms our food was not given the attention it deserved. This was not a good experience…paid a lot of money for bad tasting food.
Fantastic meal. The service and the food were top notch.
Excellent food and service will definitely go back
Extremely disappointing! Food quality was poor and prices very high. Lump crab appetizer was small and smelled fishy - as if it hadn't been rinsed. Steak tartare was far too wet masking the flavor of the meat. Pastas were good. Steaks were cold! They also lacked salt. Deserts were pre-made and frozen. Chocolate mousse was literally solid and ice cold. $800 for 4 people...not even remotely close to worth it.
They need a cocktail menu but the drinks we requested were well made. Steak, chicken and pasta (particularly the pasta) were all well prepared and tasty. We preferred this experience over their other location.
Food was fenomenal porterhouse was es executed perfectly all the courses was great also. The service on the other hand was lacking luster and found us trying to get them to come and attend the table, maybe was too busy and not enough staff the place was packed. Will definitely come again food made it all better.
The food was hit or miss - though mostly a miss. Appetizers of Clams Oreganata and crab cake were good, which made the disappointing main dishes really a surprise. Branzino was awful - rubbery and tasteless. Menu said whole fish - but it was actually two separate filets that I would bet came straight out of the freezer. I have never seen a piece of branzino that needed a knife to cut it. Not sure how they can call themselves a "steakhouse” - The NY strip and veal chop were similarly tasteless and tough. The service was also lackluster.
Would not return.
We waited 30 min for menus. We’re given 5 min to review it before someone asked for our order then we were promptly forgotten again. Apps came asap. Mains took another 45 min and our rare steak was received well done and the filet was riddled with fat. Would never, NEVER, eat here again
I still love the restaurant, but the prices have skyrocketed :(
Excellent steak and classic apps and sides. Terrific, reasonably priced wines. Will return many times.
A GREAT addition to the area! The food was amazing as well as the service and restaurant!
Food was good, very expensive and charged $45 for corkage fee. Very crowded, close together and noisy. Staff not wearing masks and seating back to normal, not spread out at all
This is my 4th time since late September that I have dined at this restaurant .
I kept returning because the value for the food ,service ans environment was great. However since my last experience dining there 2 weeks ago, all the prices on entree jumped $20 dollars higher . It was shocking !
This huge price increase was so shocking that I will not go back there again since all the high end steak places charge the same . We thought we were getting a great value here . There are so many great restaurants is the same price point that are better all around .
It was still good food and service but just disappointing to see the shocking price increases .
Especially in today new service world, it should be commended that the service was excellent. From beginning to end everyone was attentive and there was never an issue, what is more impressive it was a packed Saturday night. The food, especially the steaks are exactly what they are known for. Good wine selection with regional choices.
Amazing food and attentive staff. Loved the Sole!!! No question will be back for another date night.
My wife and I had been here a few weeks before and we were both pleasantly surprised. We could not wait to go back but after last night, I am not sure we will be going back again.
First off, if you are a party of 2, they will always sit you in the bar area. The main dining room is only for parties or 3 or more.
The main dining room is nice with a wood burning fireplace.
Anyway, the place was packed and unlike the first time, you can really feel like you were being rushed. From the second you sit down, they are pushing the alcohol. This I get, but typically not before the water. Bread was good but the butter was served in a cheap aluminum container. Pretty tacky.
I ordered the arugula salad which was pretty tasteless, and my wife the wedge which was soaked in blue cheese dressing. She enjoyed it though. Just wished she ordered the dressing on the side.
As a main I had the chicken which was simply ok. Again, not much flavor but cooked well. My wife had the salmon of which she could not have been more disappointed.
The food was rushed out and they seemed to be trying to clear the plates before we were even finished. The table behind ours the woman was complaining about her pasta not being al Dente, in which none of the waiters in an Italian steakhouse could understand what she was talking about. As we are eating they are removing a table next to ours, and left the chairs there. Just dragging it around making a ton of noise. Then the table reappears. Again dragging it making a lot of noise during dinner.
Don’t get me wrong, we want to like this place, but it seems like they just got too big, too fast and it’s showing.
As a final issue, they valet park your car for you. When I went to get my car, the valet pulled it out of its spot and left it across the parking lot. He came over with the key and pointed to it. Really? He could not bring it to me?
Come on guys. Last night was a pretty bad experience on what was supposed to be the start of a very nice evening.
Popular steakhouse with great food. Service was attentive and staff went out of their way to accommodate special requests. Highly recommend.
It was the least relaxing meal ever. We weren’t able to put down our forks to take a breath between bites before someone would come and attempt to clear the table. We politely asked no less than 8 times to leave the dishes and plates that we were still working on. We felt like we were being pushed out the entire time. Would not return.
Absolutely phenomenal service! Very attentive staff. Food top notch. The main dining room could use a better configuration as it almost looks and feels like a cafeteria. Needs a more intimate design. Otherwise a great experience.
Professional staff. Good food, lovely setting.
Just what you want in a steakhouse. Big tables, comfortable seats, great martini, good wine list, plenty of fun appetizers and of course a terrific steak. I had the NY strip medium rare, which was ever so slightly overcooked, but no complaints because it was delicious. I will go as often as cholesterol levels permit.
