Opened in June 2012, Macchialina Taverna, located at 820 Alton Road in the heart of South Beach's residential west side, has quickly become a favorite among critics, locals and in-the-know tourists who flock to the casual neighborhood eatery to indulge in James Beard Semi-finalist chef MichaelPirolo's soulful Italian fare. From the start, Macchialina has been racking up accolades such as a 3.5 star Excellent rating from The Miami Herald, Best Restaurant 2013 from the Miami New Times "Best Of" Edition as well as a stellar review from the same paper, Pirolo and his team at Macchialina are taking the city by storm.

Loved it, amazing food and not overly fancy. Sat at bar and bartender gave excellent recommendations all night. Would come back o Miami just to eat here!

An old favorite. Be sure to have the on menu polenta option (currently with Duck) or the off menu request only polenta board . The pastas are made in house , excellent, and great to share several. You May be seated outside on a busy and somewhat noisy street.

We love this place! We come to South Beach once a year and this is the one restaurant we come back to. The tasting menu is amazing- more than enough but too delicious to pass up. If you are not going for the tasting menu, you MUST order the polenta! It’s worth the trip!

Amazing food and service with the exception of the front of house. Be prepared to wait 30-60 minutes past your reservation time while tables sit empty and the hostesses lie to your face about setting your table.

Hostess Christina was friendly and engaging. Waiter Dan was responsive and attentive, as were all staff. Food was excellent, environment was energetic and family-festive. Authentic, fresh home made Italian specialties. Highly recommend for a fun, special or everyday dining experience.

Amazing pasta. Went on ten dollar night. Long wait to get pasta and comes as it is made so no order. Be ready to have family style. But delicious.
