My party arrived at the restaurant timely. We were seated within a few minutes, but after that the service was SO SLOW that we were one minute away from walking out! Due to the open floor plan, the staff had a clear view of all guests, yet after being seated, my party of 3 sat there for 20 minutes before the staff bothered to further acknowledge us. And although the restaurant was not overly busy and it didn’t appear that there was a shortage of waiters and waitresses, when a waiter finally did arrive, there was no acknowledgment of the long wait. We were not even offered some obligatory tortilla chips and salsa. Although the food was good, it’s obvious that this restaurant does not put a priority on making its guests feel welcome.

We came here to celebrate a 4 year olds birthday 🎂 It was heaving, and everyone was so busy. From walking in and speaking to the hostess, to our server and all the support staff, we had an amazing dinner. Our server Macie was extraordinary. So sweet, and such a hard worker. Thanks for making her birthday and our meals amazing.

We had reservations for a group of 20 and the table was not ready until 20 minutes after the reserved time even though restaurant was not busy. Service was awful. Some people never got their food and it was difficult to even get water refilled. Waited forever for checks and had to ask for them. They had extreme difficulty handling separate checks and due to delay gave a good discount. However, overall was not a good experience.

The food was cold when it finally came out. It took over 30 mins to get our food and the restaurant was not busy. We waiting over 15 mins for our table even with a reservation. They never brought over the kid menus and we had 4 of them with us. Our plates on our table were dirty when we first sat down. It was a miserable dining experience.

We waited for a table for 20 minutes even though we did open table. Along with four-five other sets of people waiting. There were about five tables with people and only one server running crazy. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat. As a training tip, the hostess should address the waiting parties with an honest assessment or update. Instead she let us just stand there. We would most likely be back since this is a family favorite.

I’ve been eating at macayos since 1975 as a child, so when I came back to town I obviously wanted to share with my family. First the wait was 20 minutes later than our reservation because so many large table were dirty when we arrived. Finally after 20 minutes I asked how long it would be and the hostess then took us to a table that had been clean and ready since we arrived. The quest dip we arrested came out cold, had to send it back, the appetizer plate came out with food so over cooked we didn’t eat half of it. The chimichangas shock they are famous for now has half the meat they used to have. The ambiance was not what a macayos used to be. It’s now more like a place to go in the afternoon for lunch. We had a party of 7 and everyone said it’s the worst meal they had while in town. I’ve taken macayos off my list of places to eat while visiting my hometown.

Easily the worst mexican food I had in Arizona. The Green Chili cheese crisp was good. The rest of dinner was bad. You would have thought the wait staff could have figured it out. When we didn't eat dinner. They asked if we needed boxes. We said no.

Never got eat! Hostess stand was very confused when we arrived with a reservation. Finally figured out where to seat us. Bunches of staff running around , no one came near us. I asked someone about our server, no help. 5 minutes later my wife went to hostess stand and asked again. Waited 5 more minutes and left. No one at hostess stand to mention our disgust with as we left. Stay away!

my husband & I eat out frequently. we thought we would give Macayo a try. let me set the stage -- it was a friday night. the restaurant was moderately packed. our server announced that it was the FIRST night for their new bartender and that we should be patient. you scheduled a new bartender for their first night on a friday night??? that doesn't seem right and/or fair to anyone. 20 minutes later our drinks finally arrived. AND i was told they were out of PATRON! really? a mexican restaurant out of PATRON? and the booth next to us had ordered the same drink & they heard my response. they agreed with us. how could this happen? the food arrived fairly quickly; it was good, but nothing sensational. we had thought the restaurant would be re-decorated from its former occupant, but we didn't see much difference. Overall, HIGHLY doubtful that you will see us at this restaurant ever again.
