Having been "regulars" at previous incarnation, Jane's, before attending The Trap Door Theatre (down the gangway between Mable's two storefronts), we were DELIGHTED to see modest but smart changes made. The menu brought many creative item that we very much enjoyed, along with some fine cocktails. We'll DEFINITELY return! Welcome, Mable! Sorry to see Jane's close, but another gal of this ilk is most welcome!

Great ambience and welcoming hostesses. We were seated in the adjacent room which was nicely decorated for the holidays. We started with the shrimp cocktail appetizer and enjoyed it. Our party of 4 had the filets and Delmonico steaks. All were cooked perfectly to our liking and came with their own au jus. Caesar and house salads were very good. Mashed potatoes were good but could have been a bit warmer. The dinner rolls are tiny but tasty. A bit tight between the tables but that did not inhibit our comfort. Our server was excellent and quite attentive throughout the dinner making sure we had what we needed. The apple tart for dessert was perfect! I would definitely dine here again.

Food, ambiance and service was great but alcoholic drinks were a bit watered down for me. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary and I ordered an Old Fashioned but both seemed a little underwhelming.

We loved everything we tried! The salmon tar tar was my favorite. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays and the staff was great. I’ll definitely be back to try brunch!

Good effort from the staff and very friendly but didn’t live up to the reviews. “Amazing brick chicken” was dry. 11 ingredient chop chop salad was underwhelming. Won’t be back unfortunately.

We travel from the South Loop in order to attend the Trap Door Theater that is adjacent (just behind) Mable's Table, which used to be Jane's. The restaurant was very busy the night we visited (for the second time) on Dec 28. They have expanded the normal seating area into the former private-dining area. The menu has changed, with some additional items, but MUCH more attention must be paid to preparation, service, and "sides". We found that our waiter was unknowledgeable although seemingly well-intentioned. Bread service is TERRIBLE. We waited about 15 minutes for a "bread serving waiter" to wonder around seemingly not knowing which table to serve until our waiter pointed him to our table. We then each received one TERRIBLE "parker-house roll" I'd call it--kind of sweet and doughy. Just like the good old days in Chicago back in the 1960s. My wife ordered the white fish, which was a soggy mess (frozen?). I ordered the daily special of prime rib, which was very good and well prepared. It was served plain with juice, just right. BUT THE JUICE CALLED FOR SOME DECENT BREAD, NOT THE HORRIBLE LITTLE ROLLS THAT TASTE LIKE THEY'RE FRESH OUT OF THE BOX FROM A DOLLAR STORE. Available beverages are adequate.

We are fans of this new hot spot. Dinner several times and brunch most recently. Dinner has been spot on but brunch was lacking a little bit. Server didn’t understand English completely and missed a few specifics about how we wanted food prepared. Not a big deal but will ensure order is correct next time. Chef, amazing venture and what a home run. Open the wall between the two rooms?

Pros: Easy location given proximity to highway. Meatballs. Whitefish with crab. Lamb. Wedge salad. Table was huge and inviting (table for 6 in back room). Atmosphere. Service and attentiveness.
Caveats: Salmon tartar and truffle/crab mac were underwhelming (not enough flavor). Mixed review on Porchetta (some bites tasted absolutely amazing but too high of a fat to meat ratio). Wine list too limited. Out of oysters the night we were there.

From the minute you walk in you know your in a neighborhood local. The staff is warm and friendly a make you feel like a neighbor.
On every table there should be a beef carpaccio,and the porchetta. The porchetta will blow your mind good.
Thank You to the entire staff for treating us like rock stars,much continued success.

We chose Mable’s table because of its proximity to the Hideout and its excellent reviews. We were not disappointed. We arrive before the rush, and were welcomed by several folks, including the manager (or owner?) and the chef!
Our food was delicious and they happily accommodated some modifications. The ribeye was so tender melted in our mouths and the whitefish dish was subtle and sublime.

Two of our group ordered fillets, and TWICE they both came to the table raw/deep red and clearly under cooked. Not remotely pink inside... The NY strip was very poor quality - lots of gristle. Great space - really poor experience with the food, at least the night we were there (12/6)/17)

Great new neighborhood spot, but also worth a drive for those outside of Bucktown. Service was friendly and helpful, the food was very good and well paced, and the cocktail and wine we had was also very good. Our favorite foods were the bisque, brick chicken, brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese. We'll go back to enjoy those again, and try some others.

Awesome addition to the neighborhood! Moderately priced wines, great food, cute festive holiday atmosphere, friendly service! I wouldn’t want to sit at the table right where the server station is but otherwise, every table seemed like a good one! We’ll be back!

Great new addition to the neighborhood, cocktails were fantastic, and Scott, the beverage director, recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with my fiancé’s salmon as well as my porchetta (tender, roasted pork belly, amazing!) we will be back for sure the guy next to me at the bar said the mussels were the best he’s ever had!

Just a wonderful dining experience. Chef Anthony has put together a menu full of comfort food that is still elegant. The Porchetta is ridiculous, meatballs are silky smooth, my wife had the Delmonico that was awesome and friends had the salmon and raved about it. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the ambience is comfortable and reminds you of sitting at your grandma's table eating way too much and laughing with friends. This is a special place.
