Mable's Table Ratings and Reviews
We had a lovely dinner with tasty food. My crispy salmon was prepared perfectly. This elegant restaurant had incredible wines and still had kid friendly staff. It is pricey for a neighborhood restaurant, but was charming and very pleasant. They even have TVs but somehow it doesn’t charge the charming elegant atmosphere. Think Shaby Chic with high quality food and service. My kids loved it (10,8yr boys).
Mable's Table is already a hit -- best evidenced by the packed restaurant last Saturday night -- and deservedly so. With the warmth of the greeting from...well, everyone...still echoing, we enjoyed a great meal from creative apps through steaks and chops, and a delicious salmon. The entire Mable's "team" pitched n throughout from Owner right through the buses, with smiles sometimes making up for the kitchen being slammed during "rush hour." A great apple galette topped a wonderful meal. The best we can say: we'll be back.
What a charming little resto that has sweetly arrived after Jane's Resto left us. We were greeted by the Owner/Chef and he, along with the wait staff were superior, genuine and highly professional. The new look is amazing with what they have done with the space. We are vegetarians and Mable (Chef's dear mother) served mainly meat and fish specialities, which looked very special from our neighbors. The very best item we enjoyed was the tomato fennel soup, as it was amazing! They offered cozy, comfort foods with 4-5 different macaroni and cheese dishes, which go down well on these sizzling hot Chicago nights we have been having. My only gentle suggestion is, if serving Caprese salad make sure it is authentic Italian. Heirloom tomatoes are best at room temperature and not hot house ones that are nearly too cold to bite. We can't enjoy the summer tomatoes freely in our climate without some detective work to find the right ones. Pesto is quick and easy to make and adds to the overall flavor. Buffalo mozzarella should be room temperature, less dense with a distinct flavor. Utilizing cherry or plum tomatoes during the winter would make a big impact on the overall taste of this very special salad. The basil and vinegar utilized for the dish were perfect. We will return again as the overall experience was amazing! I know brunch is coming soon and how wonderful to venture here than the often too hectic locations in Logan Park or Wicker Park. I wish them great success and to be around for many decades to come!
Great service they were all very attentive without over doing it. Yet, the food was under par. The pork chop was over cooked and the apple tart you literally had to cut with a steak knife. Tomato soup was wonderful along with the bread pudding dessert.
This was our fourth time at Mable's and, from a very strong start, it keeps getting better. The food is consistently excellent and the service is outstanding. The owner / chef circulates the dining room and strikes up conversations. All of the staff are on point and continually watching for anything they can do to make your evening that much better. Favorites are the zucchini carpaccio, beef carpaccio, meatballs, fish of any kind, steak, beet salad. The blackberry cocktail is so good. Mables is the essence of a warm, inviting, delicious neighborhood spot as ideal for a date as for a family gathering.
Table for 6 (including 2 infants). Very welcoming staff and space. Only ding for ambiance was that the second room was a bit warm. We had the rib eye, Mac and cheese and Brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious. The type of menu where you can easily come here a few times a month.
New addition to the neighborhood. Great atmosphere, excellent food preparation and menu selection. Very attentive wait staff. Proprietor was welcoming, kind and personal. Seated next to the kitchen and fun to watch the cooks in action. Will definitely go back again.
This restaurant was only open for one week when we went there on Saturday. It was pleasantly crowded. The decor has been freshened up since it was Jane’s. It was very cozy and they did a nice job with the bar seating and adding just a couple of TV’s. I still love the open kitchen. Our server, Sean, was very professional and friendly. We will definately ask for him again. Portions of the main dishes were HUGE. Small plates were nice to share. Didn’t have dessert, but saw some go by and it looked delicision. Our friends that had cocktails said they were great. Would like to see a little more variety on the wine menu. The chef and manager shook our hands on the way out and asked how everything was. Much appreciated! Great neighborhood, walk to restaurant. Definately more comfort food and less “foodie” which is fine. There is plenty of that in the neighborhood!
We had a great night at Mable's Table, the food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. We were hoping we would enjoy our experience as we are looking for a new neighborhood place with a versatile menu with great food, and we found it. We had the Lamb Chops, Porchetta, Cauliflower and Potatoes, all prepared perfectly. While we sat at a table, we also look forward to going back and sitting at the bar, great crowd.
