Ma'am Sir is a work of love by chef Charles Olalia. The menu draws inspiration from dishes he grew up on and specifically, dishes from Panpanga. The dishes and drinks embody the beach culture of the Philippines in a fun and polished way.

I've been here a few times and it's a bit hit or miss. The items on their menu that hit are fantastic (Pork Sliders, Lumpia, Roast Eggplant), but the dishes that miss are only so so (Hangover Fried Rice, Pork Belly, Vegi Pancit). Would go here for happy hour and a snack but don't think we'd come back for a full meal.

As a Filipino, I'm always excited to try the new fusion restaurants in LA; and was really looking forward to Ma'am Sir after all the good things I've heard about it.

The food selection was great and tasted amazing. The only part of our dining experience that made it poor was the service.

We arrived at 8:15 for reservations and were seated promptly. At around 8:40 we still have not been waited on, and had to ask the bus boy to get a waiter to our table. Through the dinner, it seemed like the bus boy did more of a job, and a better job of service to us than our waitress did.

Too expensive for Filipino food. The same Kare Kare (same taste, same flavor, and bigger in size) is half the price at a regular Filipino restaurant. The lumpia was just ok. The sisig was too sour and bitter and did not have the crunch that I was looking for in sisig. The Lapu Lapu was an amazing concept (Ube flavored old fashioned!? what?) but to my unfortunate surprise, was too sweet. Service was great and ambiance was great. I wouldn't recommend having a full meal there if you've had more authentic or home cooked Filipino food before. I was appalled by the bill because for the same price, I could have fed an entire Barangay (4 drinks, 8 dishes, 20% tip - $300!!). Don't skip it entirely because it is innovative. Go for the drinks, pandesal, and the atmosphere.

Service was friendly and welcoming, but made several mistakes, including forgetting three items we ordered at different times during the meal. The food, for the most part, was good, but not great. We all felt like it wasn’t a very good value...it was very expensive, but the food and service didn’t live up to the price tag. We think this restaurant is trying to do something very cool with Filipino food, and we wish then luck, but we are not likely to return, as the experience didn’t merit the cost. Cocktails were well-made.

On top of the great food & ambiance, amazing customer service - we had a miscommunication with my reservation and they went above and beyond to correct the mistake.

Staff efficient and friendly. No Filipino looking waiters.
Food was good. Fusion. Innovative.
Young crowd. Mostly white guests enjoying Filipino food. Made me happy this native food is getting exposure.
Would recommend.
Non traditional Filipino Resto.
Interesting bar drinks incorporating Philippine fruit ingredients to traditional concoctions.

Beautiful ambiance and I like the presentation food. I ordered the longanisa sliders, garlic rice and pork sisig. The sliders were good especially with that sweet bread. I have had different kinds of sisig but this one just didn't stand out. I was a bit disappointed. It probably could have been better if it was cooked for longer, when it came out on the iron skillet it was still pretty mushy.

Love this place per usual. Please add some historical info/background about this place and Filipino culture. It would make the experience so much more interesting!

It's not bad but for the price and the amount you get (3 pieces of chicken for over $20, 5 tiny slices of pork belly for $18) I wouldn't go back. Food was good but at that price point, I expect more. Enjoyed the music selection, though it was very loud and could barely hear my server. The staff though was 100% on point and very accommodating.

Service was absolutely abysmal. After our initial orders were taken, servers struggled to keep up with clearing finished plates and we were never asked if we needed more drinks or other items.

Absolutely the best restaurant. My husband and I always enjoy coming to ma’am sir. The food is delicious. The staff is amazing. The ambiance is spectacular! What we love about coming here is the passion, love, and culture that is invested in every aspect of the restaurant from the food, to cocktails, and even the generosity of the people who are working here. I truly appreciate all of that.

Great food and great service! I really appreciated the small things such as being asked what the occasion was for our reservation. It was my partner's birthday and I was really happy to just find a simple birthday candle on the banana bibingka when it came out. Thanks, Ma'am Sir!

Very poor quality food. The worst garlic fried rice I have ever had by overpowering of garlic and oil resulted to indigestion, bad garlic breath for days and bad taste in my mouth. The Bangus dish was topped with ketchup not giving the customer the choice to put in a side which impacted the taste of the dish. The adobo lacked flavor or the garlic fried rice masked the flavor. Limited choice of food (did not offer steam plain rice to substitute garlic fried rice) and price point does not align with the quality of food. I will not be coming back in this establishment.

First time to Ma'am Sir and loved the sunny, high-ceilinged room, properly enthusiastic staff and interesting (delicious) food.
Between two of us, we split a special fish and cracklings salad (maybe my fave); Ma'am Sir Lumpia (good!); adobo chicken rice (really tasty and G's fave); and the oxtail (also maybe my fave :).
Walked out having spent less than expected. Conveniently, it's in the neighborhood, so we'll definitely be back.

The service was fine. Our waiter was very nice. The waits weren’t terrible. The food was fine, but I just had that it’s definitely been ‘overhyped’ feeling. We ordered several things on the menu. None of the dishes were remarkable. I’m glad we tried it, but I wouldn’t go back again. Not that special. Seems like many people love it tho.

A very nice modern take on traditional Filipino food. The menu was imaginative and varied, and many of the choices were very well done. Portion sizes are quite large. The space is lively and full of life, and the overall vibe is pleasant and imaginative. The server was professional, but didn't seem to have much a clue about the broader Filipino culture.

Went to take my best friend out for her birthday. The food calamansi (sparkling) drink was amazing along with the Pandesal with ube butter 🤤

The Bangus (Milkfish) was pretty good, I think next time, I’d like to try their adobo chicken since thats a Filipino staple.

Staff was accommodating, even though a couple in our party arrived later. Brunch was good and the combo was good value. The pan de sal and Ube butter was really delicious. Pichi pichi reminds me of holidays, sticky rice and coconut topping. Longaniza had a good combination of sweetness and tartness. I enjoyed the sisig as well. The tocino was not cured consistently. A bit too loud to hear our conversation.
