M Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were excellent. It was not crowded, so the noise level was low enough to allow for conversation; I'm not sure how noisy it is on a busy night. The veggie tower is excellent and is recommended. I had the seafood special and it was also excellent. For us, the prices dictate that this is only for special occasions, but I would definitely go here again.
My father and I were in Nashville celebrating our birthdays and stumbled upon this great restaurant. Our server, Christian, was attentive and informative. We had the bacon pork lollipops as an appetizer. They were delicious. My dad had the veggie tower, which he counted as one of his favorite meals ever. I had a grouper Special. The fish was perfectly cooked — crisp on the outside, tender inside. The Brussels sprouts were in a red wine sauce and were delightful. I highly recommend.
Dinner was amazing, but the server basically pushed us out of the restaurant. Only complaint is being rushed out. One example would be that my desert plate, and spoon were taken from me before I finished. The server also kept interrupting our conversations when we clearly didn’t need anything (again rushing us). She would hover over us in the middle of our conversations until we stopped and placed our order, but we literally ordered all of the appetizers (group of 4), and had two bottles.
The food, and overall experience (minus the rushing) was great. I would recommend this place to anyone, but I would recommend being in a rush.
Thanksgiving. The appetizers - fried green tomatoes - were good but dinner was cold. Waiter mixed up our wines (A pinot noir, a cabernet, and a malbec...we corrected by color and taste on our own). Took forever to get our check. First and last visit to the M.
Waiter was really inattentive: seemed distracted. Lots of staff hanging around and early so not a lot of people.
Didn't inquire about wine which we would have had; after giving desert Menu wandered around some more so we decided to just pass and went and had desert at The Palm.
Although the food was great we were highly disappointed because the restaurant closed at 9:00pm... so why take a reservation for 6 people at 8pm. We were rushed as soon as we arrived, waiter came and immediately said “last call for food is at 8;30pm” and almost felt like we had to eat faster than ever, we didn’t even get a chance to order dessert. The cooks had their backpacks on @ 8:45 and while cooking!! We arrived at 8:15pm due to traffic so the restaurant called to check if we still needed the reservation, I feel they could’ve mention they were closing at 9pm. We could’ve gone elsewhere.
The menu looked very enticing, plus the recent awards convinced me it would be very good. However the meals were pitifully small, especially considering the price. We had to send back 2 dinners because they were lukewarm. The chicken + dumplings barely had two tiny spoonfuls of dumplings. The ambience is Mahattan level, the service fine. But the food, tho tasty, very much a disappointment due to the very small portions. They did comp our dessert due to our complaints.
We visited M Restaurant for a special occasion, our anniversary. The food was excellent. The menu is somewhat limited, but I suppose that allows them to focus on making everything they offer really first-rate, which they do.
Unfortunately, our romantic experience was marred by being seated next to a large table of very loud drunks. There is no sound baffling on the walls or ceiling in the restaurant. We literally could not carry on a conversation at times because the drunks were so loud and annoying.
M gets A's for great food and superior service. Just don't expect an intimate dining experience until they do something about their noise problem.
I have eaten here twice. Last time I had the scallops and tortellini which was far too salty.
My date had the shrimp and grits which were quite good so I wanted to give it a second try. This time we had a large group and all were very pleased with our dishes. The drinks were unique and the service was attentive. I would recommend to others and will be back.
