M Restaurant and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Waiter was really inattentive: seemed distracted. Lots of staff hanging around and early so not a lot of people.
Didn't inquire about wine which we would have had; after giving desert Menu wandered around some more so we decided to just pass and went and had desert at The Palm.
Although the food was great we were highly disappointed because the restaurant closed at 9:00pm... so why take a reservation for 6 people at 8pm. We were rushed as soon as we arrived, waiter came and immediately said “last call for food is at 8;30pm” and almost felt like we had to eat faster than ever, we didn’t even get a chance to order dessert. The cooks had their backpacks on @ 8:45 and while cooking!! We arrived at 8:15pm due to traffic so the restaurant called to check if we still needed the reservation, I feel they could’ve mention they were closing at 9pm. We could’ve gone elsewhere.
The menu looked very enticing, plus the recent awards convinced me it would be very good. However the meals were pitifully small, especially considering the price. We had to send back 2 dinners because they were lukewarm. The chicken + dumplings barely had two tiny spoonfuls of dumplings. The ambience is Mahattan level, the service fine. But the food, tho tasty, very much a disappointment due to the very small portions. They did comp our dessert due to our complaints.
We visited M Restaurant for a special occasion, our anniversary. The food was excellent. The menu is somewhat limited, but I suppose that allows them to focus on making everything they offer really first-rate, which they do.
Unfortunately, our romantic experience was marred by being seated next to a large table of very loud drunks. There is no sound baffling on the walls or ceiling in the restaurant. We literally could not carry on a conversation at times because the drunks were so loud and annoying.
M gets A's for great food and superior service. Just don't expect an intimate dining experience until they do something about their noise problem.
I have eaten here twice. Last time I had the scallops and tortellini which was far too salty.
My date had the shrimp and grits which were quite good so I wanted to give it a second try. This time we had a large group and all were very pleased with our dishes. The drinks were unique and the service was attentive. I would recommend to others and will be back.
Excellent food. Really well crafted, beautifully prepared fresh ingredients with a farm-to-table quality, but very fancy foodie preparation. The scallops and the filet were among the best I've had. Cocktails were also very well done. Service was excellent, and the vibe is casual yet modern/hip, but also comfortable. Bistro feel.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and we were hoping for a special evening. Unfortunately, it fell short. The service was poor and the food was good but had some issues. i had a filet which was done perfectly. My wife had Haddock which was prepared nicely but the potatoes and vegetables were so cold she had to send it back. We ended up eating separately. It was obvious that the server did not want to be there and we had to call out to him to come to the table. I will not return. When you spend $150 for dinner you expect an experience a step above.
Had the potential for greatness, but, flat. Mediocre service, slippery floor that myself and several other guests slid on.
I was expecting a farm to table rotating menu place, which I associate with better service.
Had to send the raw fish back, never saw a bucket for the white wine. Meh.
Customer service was exceptional and Chef David was impressive to say the least. Nice find of farm to table food prepared authentically to Nashville, without being pretentious. Enjoyed it very much, and would definitely recommend and will return when in Nashville.
M was a great choice for our anniversary! The hostess and wait staff were congratulatory of our occasion and very attentive. For celebration, we were given complimentary bubbly, which served to set the mood. Our food was out of this world, and our server was very helpful with the recommendations.
My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary. We ordered the bone marrow canoes and fried green tomatoes to start, and I had the short rib picnic and he had the fish of the day. The bone marrow canoes were good, but there was enough marrow for about 1-1/2 crostinis (and we don't go nuts with it). For the price, it was certainly not worth it. The fried green tomatoes were great. My husband liked his fish and I liked it as well, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the accompanying sauce was great! The short ribs, however, were really disappointing. I had three large chunks of meat so there was definitely enough food, but it tasted about as good as a pot roast that had been in the freezer too long. The meat was dry and the mole that was served with it was nothing more than a bland sauce with a slight chile note. I love short ribs and I love mole so I was very disappointed all around. On top of all of that, our server was very short with us and it seemed like he didn't want to be there.
The peach, arugula, red onion, burrata cheese, red and yellow tomato and candied pecan salad with champagne vinegar and oil dressing ranks with the best salads I have ever enjoyed.
My sister loved the vegetable tower, a stack containing portabella mushroom, green tomato, zucchini and herb pasta. The service was friendly and excellent. White tablecloths in an industrial, sophisticated atmosphere. Loved it and would return!
