Food, cocktails and service by Christian were excellent. Ambiance much less than expected at this price level or that matches quality of food and service. Could easily be improved by lower light level with suplemental table lighting and table cloths. Also, my reservation included that we were celebrating a milestone birthday, but it was never mentioned nor was any token recognition offered. We'll probably go back for the food but it was a bit disappointing.
Not a single dish was bad - one better than the next. Great service too. Just surprised that for a party of 4 we were charged a 20% gratuity without being told. This is typically done for parties of 6 or more. Overall a memorable experience
Tricky for a fine dining restuarant in a hotel to cater to both travellers and local diners but they pull it off well. Good was great, service very good. Veal chop, veal marsala, gnocchi bologaise all delicious. While our seats were in the cross-road of the restaurant entrance from hotel and route to the restrooms it was only minorly disruptive. Bonus was view of wine and people watching, but ask to sit away from wine rack of you want a quieter seat. Only complaint was paying 3.5 X for a bottle of wine that goes for $50 retail. I may switch to a couple cocktails except for truly special occasions from now on. Overall very good!
Loved our food and Alex our server was the nicest!
We had an excellent evening at "M". Frank (the chef) made it special for all of us by changing some of th e menu item for us. The lamb shank was succulent and the steak done perfectly. The only menu item that wasn't change, my Mahi Mahi, was dry and overcooked. On the whole I would recommend "M" to anyone.
Great food. Very noisy.
Liked it so much for lunch I went back and had dinner the next day! The staff have a great vibe of happiness.
The reuben was scrumptious and memorable. Highly recommend.
Nice restaurant could use some dining music and candles, little stark. Shrimp and Grits were wonderful! Christian provided us excellent service.
This was my 4th or 5th visit. Every visit has received the highest marks for food and service. We had the salmon and the catch of the day (Halibut), both were excellent. Apple fritter bread pudding...
Reasonably priced. I plan to go back.
Fantastic restaurant. My wife has dietary restrictions so the chef was kind enough to come to our table, ensured he understood her needs and prepared an amazing meal. Great service that’s not found very often anymore! The rest of the menu was fabulous.
Excellent choice for an intimate dinner for two
Maybe the best salmon I’ve ever had!!! It comes with an amazing risotto and a variety of garnishes (apples, pecans, pomegranate) that add to the overall flavors. Tons of great menu options and delicious drinks. Along with the salmon I highly recommend the steak and biscuit appetizer.
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Just delicious.
Food and service was wonderful from start to finish! Alex was our server - absolutely fantastic! Great place to visit - you won’t be disappointed!
EXCELLENT waiter!!! Great food! Very nice experience.
Always one of my favorite places!
The food was incredible and our server was very personable. Service and food were definitely 5 star. Great food at a good price. You won’t be disappointed!!
The food was wonderful and the ambience was nice but our waiter just wanted to hear himself talk. Multiples times he interrupted us during on our conversations to tell us a story he wanted to that was complete unrelated to anything. When handing out the bills one of us just said we would do that since we were in the middle of a conversation and he said something very rude and proceed to hand them out.
Excellent restaurant and still supported by locals! We love the varied menu....everything is really good. The service and ambiance refreshingly relaxing.
The food was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the Apple Butter Salmon and Bread Pudding. They also had a Derby Pie as a special for the Kentucky Derby that was delicious. M Restaurant is definitely a MUST.
It was amazing for Mother’s Day brunch
The food was surprisingly delicious. My family went here for Mother’s day and mother wasn’t disappointed. Service was okay, but not great. The waiter was very friendly, but slow to refill drinks. We would have ordered more wine, but it was too late by the time he asked. One order had a problem and the person delivering the meal kindly offered to fix it. The waiter had no idea. Highly recommend the pork shank and the appetizers!
Amazing food from appetizers all the way down to dessert...would definitely be back!!
What could have been a wonderful evening was completely ruined by our waiter. I thought at first he must be the owner as he started telling us stories of all the restaurants he personally had opened, young people he had helped in the business and more. He brought out half of our ordered cocktails. Ten minutes later when we reminded him half our party still didn’t have drinks he rudely reminded us he wasn’t the bartender and could only bring out what had been made so far. By the first course we hear about his upcoming trip to Paris blah, blah, blah. To clear plates we would push the silverware off the plate on to the table. It was a birthday celebration for one in our party. When desserts were brought he made a big flourish of setting a dessert in front of the birthday person (who hadn’t ordered a dessert). He blew out the candle and started eating “his” dessert. Another in our party had ordered a dessert but it hadn’t arrived yet. You guessed it! It was the dessert he gave the birthday boy. The food?? I was so mad I hardly remember the food. It was good but not great. The worst part since we were a party of nine, the tip was included in the bill.
I was at M Restaurant in November 2018 with our company and have been thinking about the shrimp and grits ever since. Ordered it again and it did not disappoint! My friend ordered and loved the salmon. We had a wonderful evening catching up with good food and drinks. Luckily for us, they weren’t too busy on the Sunday that we went for dinner., so we basically closed the place down.
My husband and I went to this restaurant based on reviews. We weren't disappointed but also not our best meal in Nashville. My husband had scallops on tortellini. He found the sauce too spicy with the scallops for his taste. However the scallops were sweet, delicious and perfectly cooked. I had their halibut special with apples and spinach. I enjoyed my meal very much.
Service was wonderful and ambiance great. Prime location to take in downtown afterwards. Portion sizes are entrees could have been bigger. Overall delicious. We had snapper special, veggie tower, wedge salad, and chicken and waffle appetizer. recommend all.
For starters, the restaurant was empty which should've been a red flag. However, a large group of us decided to stay and give it a shot. The server was disengaged and unattentive. The crab salad was extremely fishy and not able to be eaten. Our veggie flatbread also came out extremely dry and burnt. Overall, very poor experience. Would not recommend.
Shrimp and grits were really great. Chicken and waffles were also good.
Always a delicious and thoughtful experience!
We love M!! Always great food and service. Definitely a favorite!
Stellar. The food, cocktails and service were wonderful. It was a great dinner and we will be back. The grouper special was amazing!
Our server was very good and attentive and the restaurant had a nice vibe. However the food was just ok and took at least 30 minutes.
Great food and service. Meal sizes were perfect for the price.
What an incredible little downtown spot! Felt upscale but without the pretension. Menu items were refreshingly “Nashville” while not being completely full of BBQ, brisket, and ribs. The steak and herb fontina biscuits with horseradish cream appetizer was AWESOME. The Shrimp and Grits (with peppers, andouille sausage, and NOLA cream) was THE best I’ve had. Portions were just the right size. Service was great!!
We started with specialty cocktails and appetizers. It almost broke our hearts to leave so much food on the plates but we are traveling and could not take it with us. The steak and biscuit appetizers were melt in your mouth with a bit of a kick. The chicken and waffles were fabulous. While one of us had fabulous scallops, I had the most amazing pork shank that I have ever had. The meat was so tender and fell away into a magical sauce. Oh and a taste of dessert must be had. Great service. Unbelievable food.
They were able to accommodate a large number on short notice. Our waiter was attentive and food was delicious. Only recommendation would be to bring out food as it was ready, as my mashed potatoes were a tad cool. Second recommendation would be to add 18% for a large group not 20%. There is no wiggle room to tip server more as 20% is most people's max. All in all, you guys rocked!
My husband and I had a very nice dinner at the bar at M Restaurant on our first night in Nashville. The food was absolutely delicious. We overheard one server telling another that a table of walk-ins were the same customers who had been there for lunch that day. I could see why!
