Josie was an absolute sweetheart! Excellent service, food came super quick and was delicious! It's our favorite restaurant to come to when we are in town 😁
Terrible visit and I’m a long time fan of M&S. The reviews on yelp are terrible and I was worried they may be struggling- after visiting I can see why. They have always been reliable, quality, well priced seafood and steaks in Chicago, DC and Dallas yet I’ve never eaten at this location. I caution it.
The waitress was so sweet and punctual at first. In fact it was obvious we wanted drinks and an appetizer and then wanted to relax for a few minutes. She asked us at least 8 times if we were ready to order despite our engrossed conversation. Once we ordered we never saw her again and didn’t get a chance to order another round of drinks before dinner. (My martini was made with sugar despite my asking for none and sending the first back- they still sweetened the second).
We never got bread. We never got water refills. We finally went to the kitchen area to ask for both and no one did anything. Food was finally delivered which was well over 20+ min since ordering and again we asked for water yet received none. Never got our salads early. One of two steaks were well overdone. Waitress never checked back to bring water or ask about food. Waited at least 10-15 minutes and then again went into the kitchen to ask if someone could come get my steak and make it right. Instead of the runner just coming over he said he would tell someone. Our waitress seemed doubtful and I had to convince her to have my steak remade. Despite being medium rare it took about 10 minutes (that’s fine) when it was delivered it was just tasteless. Very disappointed.
The rolls were amazing at least.
We decided to try the apple pie. Oddly it was served to us upside down or bottom crust up. It almost felt like a “screw off” sign.
Despite all the issues the waitress never apologized or even acted like anything had gone wrong. Then the last straw- We had a complimentary appetizer yet the waitress forgot to remove it so that delayed our departure even more.
Just a terrible experience.
Mark provided excellent service! Please let him know my grandson and me enjoyed our meal.
A spider hovered over our table and instead of the waiter removing the spider, he placed the spider on his tray, the spider spun a web to the ground and the waiter then took the web by his hand and passed it to another waiter all the while still taking orders and seeing that one table guest had to stand on the other side of the table because she was visibly shaken as he refused to move with the spider. It took a very long time to receive anything requested, bread, straws, food etc. Only two people ordered a beverage and both drinks were weak (tea and soda). When both requested strawberry lemonade they received what was described as strawberry flavoring. One had to add lemonade and water to her drink. One guest specifically ordered a well done burger with no pink. She received an undercooked burger anyway. When it was replaced, the burger still had pink and instead of ketchup she was provided with cocktail sauce. We had to wait an extended time to pay our check and left feeling like we had a bad experience and would not return for a work luncheon again.
Friendly service, great kids menu, crab cakes were wonderful!
Awful service. Seafood was not tasty... we left the restaurant earlier than expected.
Ordered the half rack of ribs, which were dried out and chewy, actually burnt on one side. Wait staff didn't know which table to bring food or bill to.
The foot was fine; the waiter was fine. My issue is that they don't have enough wait staff. Second time I have been there with people waiting 40-50 minutes, but lots of open tables! We made a reservation through open table and were seated within 15, but still.
We were there on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to grab dinner and a drink before the Orioles baseball game. I am glad I got a reservation by OpenTable as, when we arrived, potential customers were being turned away for a 55 minute wait despite the fact that 80% of the seating was unoccupied. Maybe they were just terrible understaffed? The bartender was working alone and was overwhelmed. They didn't have any draft beers available (despite a good list on the menu). Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was quite good - the kobe burger was well cooked and juicy and the blackened Caesar salad was tasty if not lacking in presentation.
I received a message from Open Table about why we did not show. Apparently when we arrived and gave our name the hostess did not recognize our reservation. We ABSOLUTELY arrived, even 10 min early. The bill was $108 & service was a MESS. An hour for an appetizer which had to be re-ordered because they forgot to bring it. We were asked if we wanted bread, then had to ask for it 2x when that did not arrive. My food arrived cold, but was tasty. My husband enjoyed his meal but arrived in this tiny, tiny, portion. Then they have this really nice specialty drink menu ranging from $12-14 and the drinks come 3/4 full?
The server was very nice and kept apologizing for all the delays and mishaps stating the bar and kitchen were backed up. Keep in mind this was a 4pm reservation and both inside /outside seating was only half full. What will they do with a big busy dinner crowd? To sum it up, the food was good, but everything else would deter me from revisiting this restaurant. LS
The service was extremely slow. The only time we ever saw our waitress was when she was delivering something to the table. She was, very very nice, just not attentive. It seems to be the norm for every place we ate in Baltimore.
Enjoyed my business lunch there. Corey was our waiter (also the bartender) and did an outstanding job. Great experience from being greeted at the entrance and throughout the meal. Highly recommend!
Our entrees and dessert were very good, but the service was awful.
Nice place and our server was friendly but the food was extremely underwhelming for the price. We waited 50 minutes for our food at an 8pm reservation, which I think is ridiculous. I ordered my filet medium and it came out more than well done. It didn’t even have a very good flavor. Everything was bland. My boyfriend had the Rockfish and he said his food was bland too. We really felt like it was a waste of $100. Also took forever to get the check.
Wonderful staff and excellent food! The personalized menus for my son’s birthday were an unexpected treat! We’re hooked!
Food seemed old and reheated. My dining companion noted a soapy taste in her salad. Service was slow but friendly. Very surprising considering the brand.
Always enjoyable at M&S — especially when it is nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the waterfront activity in the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Great happy hour! Highly recommended.
We enjoyed our 1st dinner at M& S Grill even though we are Baltimore locals. Our Restaurant Week dinner was fantastic. The food was wonderful with reasonable choices for the limited menu. We were seated by Emma who turned out to be our waitress. She was wonderful she did everything to make or evening pleasant. We will certainly return even if it’s not restaurant week. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Food was excellent. We were there for 2018 Baltimore Restaurant week. Even though we had reservations we still had to wait for a table. The tables were not bussed around us. When he started to bus the tables it took over 30 minutes and he was breaking glasses and noise gathering up the tableware.
A bit expensive but 100% satisfying! Side dishes should be shared because they are huge. Our waitress was delightful and you could tell that all of the staff really took the time to care about every detail. We loved it!
We really enjoyed our time there with friends to celebrate our 4 year anniversary together.
The place was empty just because it wad a Thursday afternoon dinner time. So it was quiet. But because it was dead and quiet we should of had great service. Right? WRONG!
Good food. In a touristy area so pay a little more. Able to have conversation at table. Not too loud (and I have hard time hearing in public places)
Very hot in the restaurant and expensive for what was received. Friendly staff but slow service. Husband called while I was making an open table reservation, they said come on down tons of room. We get there a few minutes later and told there was a 15-20 minute wait but the restaurant was empty. I told them I made an open table reservation and they said ok cool we’re sitting on time but got sat almost 10 minutes past the reservation time. There were literally over 15 tables open but we waited 20 minutes to sit and it took close to 40 minutes to get our food.
Good location with nice water front view. Excellent staff that did a great job, attentive. The food was exceptional, vegies not overly done. The seafood was good as well. A good option.
we got there early and ordered drinks at the bar, we thought from the happy hour menu....no they came back at $25.00 for two....one would think the bartender would have said...one is $6 and one is 12.50...
restaurant was hot during the entire meal.
disappointed! we could not have a hot meal
Slow service. Served food and asked if anyone wanted another drink. All 5 of us did.
All 5 of us were on last bite when drinks came.
M & S Grill was not busy on a Saturday night which is quite telling in the busy Inner Harbor area. We had dirty glasses and plates on our table. Service was fair only, prices were excessive for what you got. Only one out of three steaks ordered was cooked to order, the others were overdone. We were disappointed and would not recommend the restaurant.
We were in Baltimore and staying at a hotel near the Harbor area. We walked down to the Harbor and I saw the M & S grill. The next day I was in the mood for a steak so I went online and checked out their menu. The prices were a above average. I made a reservation. We arrived at the restaurant about 40 minutes early and even though there were probably 50 empty tables, they would not seat us early stating that they were seating on time today only. Ok so we took a walk around the area and came back at exactly the time of the reservation and they seated us promptly.
I ordered the 13 oz. Ribeye extra well done. It comes with asparagus and I asked if they would substitute broccoli or mixed veggies since I don't like asparagus. The server came back and relayed that the chef said that they would only sub mashed potatoes or French fries. I really don't like potatoes at all but said ok mashed potatoes.
When the food arrived the Ribeye was was burned badly. Also there was no taste of seasoning on it.
The server did an acceptable job.
The front of the house did not in my opinion as I believe they should have seated us early because I don't think that reservations are required, but not sure.
Also the kitchen not so good. Steak burned is not acceptable even though it was ordered extra well. Substitution of veggies in place of asparagus should have been ok also in my opinion.
With all of this in mind I would have to give this restaurant a three out of five stars.
Father's Day lunch at 12.15pm. Very few people in when we got there and ordered and it was almost an hour before food arrived. They seemed to be out of quite a few things on the menu, even though it was early and Father's Day, and it was a reduced menu for the day. Food was OK everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Waiter was doing his best. Would not go back.
No service from our waitress and food was way over priced for what you actually get
The service wasn’t bad. Server was a little spacey. The real disappointing thing was they ran out of a particular dish. It was my boo’s birthday and it was his dish. We both ended up ordering the stuffed shrimp, which was pretty good. He changed one of his sides to cream or spinach, which was on the dry side. Over all it was a good experience, but it wasn’t great. I’m sure we would eat there again.
The food was great, although not exceptionally hot when it came out. Dinner was very leisurely, taking us a full 2 hours of sit down time, even though the restaurant was not very busy. This was not all bad, we enjoyed ourselves, but we only had our waitress stop by every 20 minutes or so to see how we were doing, and by that time we were in need of additional drinks and other things. We also had both our waitress and another server, refill water over the top of Sprite and Lemonade (very odd, as water glasses were all a different shape).
This is a great location and the food was good. We had good seafood and enjoyed our visit. If our waitress would have been more attentive, it would have been perfect.
I had a drink spilled on me by the waiter and never received an apology. Waiter just said he was embarrassed. I deserved an apology and visit from the manager. I had to eat my menu with a wet back.
The waitress was nice but at point our appetizers were given to another table but management resolved it. But i prefer the msin restaurant down the street on eastern blvd.
Initial service was quite slow after being seated. After that was worked out all else was fine.
The service was outstanding but the memorial day meal was not the best, at least the meal that I chose.
Great restaurant. I enjoy the special meals for Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. This location is perfect. The Baltimore Harbor is very scenic.
Our evening started off poorly after we waited for about 15-20 mins for our server after being sat. The manager Sherri was very responsive and accommodating. She ended up turning our experience into a great one.
The food and service was great. Our reservation was ready the moment we arrived. It was perfect for a large group.
