Enjoy international flavours in very British surroundings at Lytton’s restaurant at the glorious Letchworth Hall Hotel. A country retreat set in acre upon acre of glorious gardens, Letchworth Hall Hotel, part of the Mercure chain, is beautifully appointed throughout, but it’s on entering the Lytton’s dining room and bar that you’ll really appreciate the history of this Jacobean landmark. In the bar, you’re surrounded by deep, dark wood, narrow beams and cosy corners while through in the dining room is a light, bright colour scheme allowing arched doorways and wall sconces, leaded windows and chandeliers to take centre stage. Service at Lytton’s is of the unobtrusive, efficient style that one expects in a hotel dining room but with friendliness and warmth. Combining traditional and contemporary British food with modern European flavours, all presented with a little flourish and a touch of flair, Lytton’s menu offers something for everybody.

The hotel was so run down! Paint peeling off all windows. Not many staff, not very inviting. Will not recommend. Only people in the restaurant.

FOOD QUALITY IS INVARIABLY DISAPPOINTING AT THE RESTAURANT AND WE ONLY CONTINUE TO GO THERE BECAUSE OF THE GREAT SURROUNDINGS AND AMBIANCE. IT IS OVER 45 YEARS THAT I HAVE FREQUENTED THE RESTAURANT AND IT IS FAIR TO SAY THAT THE MEAL NOWADAYS IS BUT A POOR REFLECTION ON MY EARLIER EXPERIENCES AT THE HOTEL. TIMES CHANGE AND NOT ALWAYS FOR THE BETTER! A GREAT PITY.

It was OK. My wife's mother got pork tenderloin which had been overcooked to the point that it was a bit tough. Service was also a bit slow.

They do not serve dinner after 2.30 pm and then not again untill 6.30 pm , you can only get the bar menu between these times. I was not made aware of this when i booked a table for four for 4.30 pm. The bar menue consists of the normal stuff that most pubs ect would serve up, burgers, salads, etc but not what i was hoping for. Also, it is the first time in my life that our bill was brought to the table before , 1, the table was even cleared and 2, before we had even been asked if there was anything else we wanted. Quite strange.

Table for three consisted of two small round tables put together making the third person feel out of the engagement. Brought to the attention of staff member when shown the table and with few people within the restaurant this could have enabled a quick remedy. Met with a shrug when brought to the attention of this particular staff member, although other staff members were helpful during the evening. No real provision for wheelchair users. Had to go outside the hotel to enter the restaurant through conservatory with no ramp provision, having to struggle over threshold of fire door.

Great weather so we sat outside. The service was excellent. Food was lovely but would have liked to have seen more variety on the set menu perhaps a nice salad. Would eat here again.
