LUXBAR features a second level private dining room that boasts a beautiful wood bar setting and a balcony with a birds eye view of the action on Rush Street. The LUXBAR private room accommodates groups of 20 to 200 people for cocktail hors d’oeuvres receptions.

LuxBar is one of my favorite local options. I reside nearby and find this place a great option for 'comfort' food, outstanding service, and great drinks. Pending your timing and sitting location it can be very noisy. Something to keep in mind. I've had several of the menu options from a simple Kale and Chicken salad to a Cheeseburger. As mentioned a nice option for a great meal knowing that in the later evenings it can get more energetic.
I was looking for a nearby place for a brunch get together with friends. While this was not my first choice due to lack of table availability at other establishments, I ended up making a reservation at Luxbar. Coming in from the cold and rain we were all pleasantly greeted by an ambiance that is warm and welcoming.
We arrived on time and were seated almost immediately. Within minutes of being seated our waiter came by to see if we were interested in drinks. Upon returning with our beverages he took our food orders. In between our drink and food orders the place became very crowded.
Despite what appeared to be an endless flow of people coming and going, the service was impeccable. The food taste and quality was top notch. All this was delivered at prices that do not destroy your budget.
If you are looking for an all around enjoyable brunch experience, give Luxbar a shot. Just be sure to make a reservation.
As always LUX BAR was right on point - Owned and operated by the Gibson's group, everything is done right in this gold coast hot spot. The food, service, well thought craft cocktail and craft beer lists as well as a very nice wine list and a terrific atmosphere make LUX BAR a true home run!
Lux Bar is always a neighborhood staple in the Gold Coast. The food is consistently good, with fair portion sizes. They just introduced a happy hour menu featuring $5 glasses of (good) wine and their famous truffle fries. Great for a casual get-together or upscale event.
Service was very bad. Have been here many times and have only gotten good service once. I think this will be my last visit to Luxbar. Have had managers apologize bit never comp anything. I let them know I hated my last visit with my 2 cent tip.
Luxbar is fantastic! From the moment I walked in my experience was wonderful. The service was professional, friendly and accommodating. John was an exceptionally gracious host and our server was great. We were able to sit for hours and chat while having cocktails and enjoying our food. The staff was mindful to not interrupt us but they were very attentive as well. Great experience!
At Luxbar, the food is always great, the vibes are always fun, and the service can be as quick as you need it to be -- whether you want to unwind over a cocktail or order a lunchtime slider and head back to the office. The restaurant's placement in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast make it a perfect choice for all types of occasions, from date night to post-theater.
Great atmosphere AND delicious food. Reasonable priced for the neighborhood. The burger, the kale avocado salad, the croque monsieur, and the scratch fried chicken were all delicious. The whole menu looked awesome and I am anxious to come back and try more of the menu. We sat outside on the sidewalk patio which was pleasant, though very crowded - we were practically on top of the table next to us. The server was a bit slow at first but our food came quickly once we ordered.
It pains me to write this review. I have been a guest and Luxbar for over 6 years and my experiences were nothing short of outstanding. Until the last 3 months.
Over the course of my last several visits the service, attentiveness, attention to detail and accountability of their staff has considerably gone downhill. When R. Gunner was behind the bar NOTHING was ever missed.
The new team behind the bar lacks the level of professionalism and service only R. Gunner could give. Nonetheless I wanted to give them a chance, or 5 to get it and make it right.
We came here for my mothers birthday and ordered steak frites along with other items. I have ordered the steak frites numerous times and was excited to share this with my family as I'd talked this great dish up. The steak came out about 5 minutes after we ordered it, which would have been fine it I had ordered it blue, but we ordered it medium. I had to send it back twice because they couldn't get the correct temperature. The manager came to the table and took the steak back. It arrived back at the table, I cut through the center as requested and it was not correct. But I kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to be a nuisance, which is what it seemed like I was being. My fries that were supposed to come out with the recooked steak didn't, the demi was cold, the maitre d' butter was cold, server forgot my drink and honestly, I was so put off by the whole experience that I was no longer hungry or even wanted that steak. Manager apologized but why make me feel bad sending steak back?? I'm not the one who made the mistake!?!?!How disappointing and really disheartening that my neighborhood gem and favorite restaurant just doesn't seem to care anymore. Where is John?? Send help.
Good place to connect with friends on a beautiful weekend for brunch, we dined inside, but outside is great as well. The meal and ambiance made up for the shellacking that the Bears took on Sunday afternoon. Try the Bloody Mary's...particularly if during a Bear game to numb the pain!
The waiter was great, but my pet peeve is when they put down the check and never asked you if you wanted anything else. When he put down the check we had only been there an hour and 20 mins. I can see if we had been there for 3 hours and they wanted the table, but this wasn't the case.
