LUX Steakhouse + BAR94 Ratings and Reviews
Lux has a nice ambience and the serving staff is friendly and courteous. We had the steak and potatoe soup which was delicious. We also had the kale salad. It was tasty but I am reminded again that kale is just not my favorite food. Far too much chewing!
We also had a nice glass,of Wayne Gretzky wine at a reasonable price. All in all it was a pleasant evening out.
Really enjoyed our visit at Lux on the 22 of November. It was my best friend's birthday and our waitress made it special by being so gracious and catering to our requests. The food was delicious, we enjoyed the lobster macaroni along with the rest of our meal. We left very satisfied with the service and menu selections.
Hello , I had requested a booth when I booked my reservations and when I came in they tried to sit us at a table with chairs. Also we did not get our drinks or water or wine refilled even once . The restaurant wasn't that busy that night so I don't see why the service wasn't on point . Also it was a bit pricey for the service. The keg is definitely better for the same price point .
We were disappointed in Lux. We were seated by the door, when anyone entered the restaurant the cold draft from the winter air outside was biting. It was uncomfortably cold. The steaks were delicious, however the mushroom polenta is fit to be a side dish at best. The service was mediocre at best, she was friendly enough but did nothing when we mentioned how cold we were everytime the door opened and barely came to check on us. The duck was tasty but over cooked and a bit dry. We certainly don't mind paying for a nice meal, but the price for the experience was definitely not worth it. All in all a disappointing experience.
One of the best meals my fiance and I ever had. The steaks were cooked to perfection and all the accompaniments and starters were well seasoned and tasted wonderful. Our cocktails were delicious especially the Manhattan. One of the best steakhouses in Edmonton.
Incredibly slow service at pricey lunch. Our foursome arrived for lunch and waited for wine list, then a longish wait to order then an even longer wait for wine to arrive. Server apologized for a "mix up", he thought someone else had brought our drinks. Then another 5 minutes while he went to get the drinks. Then food orders followed by a longish wait for food. A table beside us that arrived 10-15 minutes after we did had their drinks and food long before we did. What's with NO rose's on wine list? Not macho enough for the crowd this dark room is trying to attract. Management needs to pay attention to service and wine list.
The food and drinks were good. Very tasty. However, we were seated near the front door, basically in the entryway. It took forever for our waitress to come and take out drink order. The bar was busy, so it took a long time for the drinks to arrive. We waited forever for our appetizers. When they finally arrived, one of our orders was wrong. Upon checking over the bill, we noticed we were charged for the wrong order, as well as what we had actually ordered. The waitress kindly, removed the item we didn't order.
Server was overly loud, boisterous. Ordered a medium rare steak and it came fairly rare. Serving staff was way too busy doting on the oilers and their wives in the private room and completely neglecting the rest of the place. Had to ask for ketchup with fries, which they then forgot to brinf out anyways. For $150 for 2 people, your better off going to Ruths Chris or similar and getting a way better experience.
The service was very good and we were attended to quickly and often. The entree took a little longer than one would expect given that the front house was empty. My only complaint would be that the Asparagus was $17. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the manager comped a glass of sparkling wine when he found out we were there for our anniversary.
We will definitely be back and will recommend to our circle of friends and colleagues.
My husband and I made reservations at Lux to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. We arrived early, and we were informed that the dining room was not yet open but we were welcome to take a table in the lounge. We accepted, and because we had access to the full menu we never moved to a table in the dining room.
Upon arrival, there was two gentlemen seated in the booth next to us (one of which we quickly determined was the manager). He proudly announced that he had made it his personal goal not to get up once tonight. We were seated for close to 2 hours, and during that time he never got up from the table, true to his word. A server came to him to ask him to take a call from a customer, to which he responded that he wouldn't take her call without more information. He asked the server to take down her information so that he could call her tomorrow.
During the course of the two hours we spent at dinner we had to listen to his loud, booming voice complain and talk down about his job, his co-workers and an excessive use of the "F bomb" during his conversations.
Our server did an outstanding job, and if I could remember her name I would give her the credit she deserves and note that she was not involved with him in any way. The food was also amazing, and well worth the trip downtown.
I'm unfortunately sadly disappointed about the ambience that the manager provided for us on such a special occasion. It was unprofessional for him to act the way he did, and he soured the overall experience for me.
We had to wait awhile before the waitress came to take our drink orders and did not check on us very much throughout the meal. We were disappointed as the restaurant was virtually empty! Had the seafood appetizer, which was average. My husband and I shared the surf and turf for 2 and it was delicious. I would suggest skipping the appetizer if ordering this as there is a lot of food. We were unable to finish it, but glad we tried it. Will maybe give this place another chance. Service needs to be improved!!!
The food quality was bad in compared to previous visits. The last time I was there I just thought the chef was having a bad day, due to previous excellent experiences. However, this time it was even worse. My wife's plate was bland and lacked flavour even after adding salt. Parts of my dish were salty to the point of still tasting the salt on the drive home. The steak, even though cooked to my preference (medium rare), was charred and tasted burnt.
The seats in our booth were ripped, the decor was dated, and the music was loud and club like for a fine dinning restaurant. We did not sit in the bar area. When previously visited the music was soft and romantic.
Lux WAS my steak house of choice and I would recommend it to anyone who asked for a great steak house. After this experience we will not be going back and will not recommend it to friends and family unless there is a major revamp.
The food was not great. Filet was done nicely, but sides, appetizers and dessert were lacking flavour and the proper temperature. When spending $250++ on a dinner, my expectations are that it be amazing. I am not a fan of chain restaurants like Earls or Joeys, but would much prefer either of those to Lux. They also don't give the option to taste a bottle of wine before purchasing, which I wasn't impressed with.
Disappointing and will not return.
