Lutyens Grill at The Ned
Fantastic food and service for my gfs birthday. Thank you.
Absolutely outstanding. Delicious food, excellent service, lovely ambience.
It was our second time there, maybe because we had really high expectations, but this time the steak was little to fatty, oysters were amazing but Scallops were OK.
Beef wellington tremendous, good service, quiet, very good all round
Perfect place for a date
Many Thanks for a great meal and excellent service.
We've dined at Lutyens Grill a few times. The service is always excellent and the steaks are great however, for some reason, the accompanying "side orders" have arrived tepid and not hot - as was the case on this visit. Whilst the restaurant manager resolved the problems very promptly, by removing the items and replacing with acceptable ones, it's a shame that the items being served aren't checked, prior to service, for temperature correctness.
Great food. Great service. Brilliant experience. Would definitely recommend.
A firm favourite in this part of town. Service is always prompt, the food great and the ambience perfect.
Fantastic night Excellent service and attention to detail.
A fabulous dining room with first class discreet staff
The decor & styling is exquisite & very comfortable too
We were welcomed warmly & service was very well timed
Our food was amazing and such a lovely treat
I’m Gluten intolerant and was well catered for. Amazing night, great food.
Highly anticipated as the other outlets in the venue were great with high quality drinks and ambience. Food let this one down i'm afraid, disappointing starters and sadly both the pork chop and ribeye steak were below par and expectations for a venue of this calibre and price.
Superb evening, the location and ambience are perfect for a critical business meeting or a intimate evening with friends. The food is outstanding accompanied by an impressive wine list. Will be back
Good atmosphere, ambience, food and service. Will visit again!
Drinks and service were good - steak was worst I have had in a long time.
Excellent food and service in a well-healed environment.
Really enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. The only reason for 4* for the food is because everything was overly salty but still well cooked and delicious.
Good steak. Attentive staff. Great for business. Good decor. Quite impressive suroundings. Loos are a long way away.
Top quality food and service, steak was as good and you will get anywhere, well worth the money
We were made to feel very welcome in what felt like a grand restaurant. I was offered a cocktail of my choice to replace the one I didn’t really like. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Other touches like the silver salt and pepper shakers and hearing the live band in the background made it a lovely first experience. Friendly and accommodating staff who assisted my friend to get her phone charged. Thank you!
Beautiful settings, steak to die for !
Great food and service although a little on the pricey side
Great food, particularly the Beef Wellington. Proper grill house decor and ambience.
A pleasant panelled dining area with good spaces between tables. The choice of both steaks/wines are excellent and the service is attentive without being intrusive' prices are what you would expect for dining in a five star hotel.
My first visit to the Ned. What a fantastic place it is. A stunning and impressive old banking hall with may historic features retained. As I walked in there was a 20s swing band in full flow in a central stage. The Lutyens grill is one of several restaurants in the Ned. We received a very warm welcome. It's quite small but nicely laid out with an air of exclusivity. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive throughout without. We tried the Cote Dr beouf and the aged Hereford ribeye, both were exceptional. The sides however were all disappointing, thin oven type chips, creamed spinach which had little or no cream and bland mushrooms. Nice Creme brulle for desert. The wine list is extensive but pricey, there are very few bottles under £50. All in all, a good lunch.
The food and wine selection was amazing.
The waiters very attentive - ambience just right .. I was nice to escape the hustle and bustle of the bars outside to the classy calm of this restaurant.
Disappointing after eating at Cecconis in the same building. The starters were fine, but the presentation wasn't as good as I would expect. My client and I both had beef wellington. We weren't asked how we liked it cooked, and it was overdone, when we would both have liked it rare. The broccoli was supposed to be char grilled. It was steamed. I would not go back.
Prawn cocktail - prawns had shell on with sauce and salad on top.
T bone steak was cut up and the cut, could t see where the fat was!!
Definatley Goodman next time
Lovely food and fab service
We visited Lutyens Grill at The Ned for our tenth wedding anniversary on 1st December 2018. Sadly our experience did not match the high price tag. Having been to The Ned during the day for work meetings, we thought it would be a safe bet for a high end gastro treat. The meal itself was pretty good, cooked well, wine tasty but at £300 it was double what the Hawksmoor would charge and the food was no better. What lets Lutyens Grill down were a number of factors and not just price. Firstly we were not prepared for The Ned on a Saturday night. It seemed it was full of Essex and Kent party goers on a night out. Trying to enter the restaurant through the swaying, drunken throng and after several 'excuse me's' for those standing in front of the door to the restaurant, we were greeted with 'who the f*** do you think you are, Lady Diana?!'. Not a great introduction. Secondly the service wasn't very well drilled, no amuse bouche, we had to ask for bread repeatedly, petit fours were forgotten and there wasn't a very high end feel to our experience. Especially considering the price tag. Sadly we left disappointed. Lutyens and The Ned should have a look at their set up. The ambiance, price tag and service only detract from a good but not sensational meal.
We loved the highly professional but unobtrusive service and traditional feel of this place – set in a former banking hall that's a classic building in the City of London. I definitely would return to savour the Beef Wellington again. The selection of stakes also looked very tempting. The menu is deep across all courses. We chose the Château de Ricaud, claret wine which complemented the beef wonderfully.
This is not a cheap dining experience but is worthy every penny of the price.
This place is ok, but average and overpriced for what it is. The service isn’t unfriendly, but there was no one at the check in when I got there, no one asked to take my coat and when I asked about a cloakroom I was told I could take it downstairs. We waited a fair while for a menu, had to keep asking for water and attract attention for more drinks. Food was good, but not remarkable. I think there are lots of places in the City doing similar food that is better with service that is more attentive.
I fell in love with my wife again :)
Excellent service. The location is great and the food I had was very good. I am looking forward to my next visit.
The food was fabulous, the entertainment was great, loud in the main area but did not spoil the atmosphere. The restless really nice, I think it was originally the managers office. We had drinks after and just really enjoyed the whole evening.
Lovely food, staff were very knowledgeable and able to offer excellent advice.
Service was prompt and efficient.
Friendly & knowledgeable service and good quality food all set in a comfortable, classic restaurant.
Waitress met us at the entrance to the Ned and found us a seat at the Nickel Bar for pre-dinner drinks which was no mean feat as the bar was heaving with people and queues were forming outside the hotel to get in. Trouble was there was not enough bar staff to cope with the demand for drinks and they really do need to sort this out. In the hustle and bustle that was the Nickel Bar she did also remember to come back and find us to take us to the restaurant for our reservation at 7.30, and gets 10/10 for her level of service from us.
Service just as good in the actual restaurant with knowledgeable and attentive staff. Steaks were tasty and cooked well and the wine recommended by our waiter was excellent. Expensive but worth it.
