Lupo Verde - 14th St
While making your reservation please be aware that the restaurant provides seating on two floors. On the first floor we have high top tables which are community style seating for small groups or individual large party tables. The upstairs floor is a traditional dining room. Please let us know if you have a preference on where would you like to be seated when making your reservation. We will do our best to honor your request depending on availability of tables.
Food is truly outstanding, service could be more efficient
Went for graduation dinner. The Verde salad to die for. Special wine of the evening different and fabulous. Excellent home made pasta. I will go back next time I am in DC.
The bottom part is a bar and smells like cleaning solution
Some of the tastiest homemade Italian food in the DMV! The pastas are so good you will want to eat 3 plates of each one. The desserts are inspirational and whimsical, and equally delicious. Service is top notch. This is one of our favorite restaurants in DC.
Mother’s Day brunch. We were the first in the restaurant when it opened and we were seated next to the door to the kitchen. There was some weird high pitched hissing sound that was annoying not just us but the tables near us. The wall was shaking. My mother ordered coffee that was cold, but thankfully the server heated it up and then it was fine. We both ordered dishes with salmon which should have been good and maybe would be with with different salmon. But the salmon was so salty I could only eat around where the salmon touched and my mom could only eat her noodles. It wasn’t even just like “wow this is salty” it was “wow this tastes disgusting.” The manager did comp the meal 10% which I appreciated but it was so terrible I really think it should have been comped completely... I will not dine here again.
Have been several times and loved it - brunch was a mess and the host could not be bothered to be helpful.
Great atmosphere, outstanding service, and the food was just as notable. With my reservation I made a simple note to congratulate the guests on their anniversary, expecting only the first person that greets us at the door to see that message and perform that request. However that message was communicated to a few other staff members of the restaurant who came up to us at various points during our dinner to congratulate us. A very nice gesture that was appreciated. Would definitely recommend this venue.
I’ve been to Lupo Verde for dinners and brunches multiple times, always highly recommending it to family and friends. This time, however, while we enjoyed ourselves for much of the meal we left frustrated and feeling a bit cheated. We were over-charged twice. Although we got the “brunch deal” of $35 per person, each guest was charged more than $60. The staff acknowledged their mistake and we received a new check, but it was not itemized. Later, we realized we had still been over-charged, but we had already paid and gone through double-checking the bill once, so at that point opted simply to leave. While there is much to like about Lupo Verde, and this may have been an honest mistake, it is frustrating to feel we might have been ripped off a bit.
Delicious Italian fare at a (fairly) reasonable price point. You won't be getting Olive Garden-sized portions, but the cacio e pepe is peerless in DC.
The seating is a bit tight, so be ready for a "cozy" dining experience.
A nice place just off of U St NW in D.C. I've been there with friends, family, and on dates. The only people I might not recommend this place for is kids. I mean, you could certainly bring children and the staff would handle them just as well as their adult customers, but why would you waste such delicious food and cocktails on people who can't appreciate them? ;)
The food was delicious!!!
Great food and service. Music much too loud but request to turn it down was honored.
Host made us wait even though we had a reservation. Restaurant was blaring the tv. Food came out all at once and was lukewarm and was nothing special. Bill was over $200 for 2 people.
Love this restaurant. I encourage management to stock the bar with paper straws.
Excellent food. Great ambiance. Minor mishap on a service side (primi piatti order was served together with a main course order).
Found the decor to be very attractive & warm. The noise level was very manageable. The staff was quite welcoming, friendly & efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our main courses, the suggested wine & our dessert.
Service was a bit slow, although our waiter was kind enough to apologize. Apparently several people had called out sick. Otherwise, great food as always.
Once again, my go-to restaurant to which I bring out of town guests did not disappoint! I ordered the pasta special- a rabbit ragu over house-made rigatoni- absolutely delicious! Other than my mom joking repeatedly that I ate the Easter Bunny, it was perfection. Cheese, charcuterie, wine... everyone enjoyed themselves and their food immensely.
We ordered three courses. We asked specifically not to have everything come out at once especially since the table was very small. Everything came out at once. The pizza we ordered had a completely raw egg in the middle of it. The puddle of raw egg white on the pizza was not edible. Our waiter was also tending bar and handling other tables; while he was kind, he was stretched too thin to provide much help. This restaurant is generally great but this experience was not pleasant. We couldn’t wait to leave. Won’t be back soon.
Luopo Verde is always outstanding. Their service is great, and the food is to die for. Especially impressed by their breakfast pastry platter.
We started off with the Charcuterie
board that was delicious. My husband had the short rib pasta and I had the Branzino. All was perfect. A lovely evening.
Table not ready, maitre d forgot about us. Then no table available. Ended up seated at bar next to incredibly loud party of drunk guests. Wine overpriced. Food ok. Won’t go back.
Hadn’t been here for 5 years and came back to a disappointing meal all around. This used to be such a special experience. Looks like the owners ditched it to start their new places. Very stale feeling, food no longer sparkles, service way average. One main course was wrong meal, the other over salted to point of being inedible. They fixed both and brought us (after we asked) some stale cubes of bread. No plates, butter, oil. So sad as 5 years ago it was one of our favorites in DC.
Friendly and accommodating staff ... service was timely and food was delicious. The manager and staff on the day of our reservation were helpful and attentive even though the restaurant was very busy...
Gnocchi and ravioli outstanding! Tiramisu authentic. A bit crowded and noisy but food definitely worth it
Great food, smallish portions for price, long wait
Food is so authentic!
My first time in DC and my first time at Lupo Verde - the food, service and ambiance was amazing. I even ordered additional appetizers after my meal. So, so good. Book way in advance and you will be happy that you did.
Tables are tight so it wasn't that comfortable at a table set for 4 and we were only 3. Food came in about 7 minutes - seriously. Scallops for two of us and the gnocchi for the other guest. Gnocchi was ok but mushrooms tasted bad and not fresh. scallops okay but too salty. served with a lot of salad with bitter dressing. didn't work. no balance. cute restaurant but not comfortable and food is obviously not cooked to order and not fresh. for the price, not worth it.
The food is always good and the noise level is better than most restaurants in Washington
Massively average food at way too high prices. They have apparently never met a salt shaker, herbs/spices or the Maillard reaction. I'd have a drink and fried artichokes at the bar but don't waste your time on a full meal.
The food in this restaurant is amazing!! Everything was so fresh and delicious. We ordered 3 different pastas to share and everyone was better than the next. Our server, Joe, was excellent. The restaurant is so cute and adds to the experience. We had a communal table and everyone loved what they had. I can't wait to return.
Lupo Verde is one of my favorite restaurants in DC! Great location right in the middle of 14th Street - very close to awesome bars to keep the night going after a delicious dinner! The Cacio & Pepe is the best I've had yet!
Service was primary factor for low rating. Staff is either rude or incredibly slow. Food has gone down hill recently- now it’s just above average italian. Fair warning: they serve bread as if rationed with one small slice per person at the table.
The seating was awful and cramped. Restaurant was half empty, we had reservations and they seated us on these awful unstable stools at a communal table. Not impressed
As usual, the food was great. I got the pomodoro buratta for an app and then the spinach gnocchi for my main course. Both were the right portions to be full, but not stuffed at the end. And it was delicious. Our service was a little less attentive that usual and it was not the crowded. But overall, it was a good experience and I will surely go back again.
Fabulous authentic italian with homemade pasta.
Can’t wait to go back !!!
Great place! The social brunch was just enough food to feel full and happy
food is amazing, drinks are great, and you have actual Italians who work there. the only thing i'd say is the cacio e pepe, though delicious, was about 2 levels too spicy. would still highly recommend lupo verde. the angliotti was AMAZING.
