Lupo Verde - 14th St
While making your reservation please be aware that the restaurant provides seating on two floors. On the first floor we have high top tables which are community style seating for small groups or individual large party tables. The upstairs floor is a traditional dining room. Please let us know if you have a preference on where would you like to be seated when making your reservation. We will do our best to honor your request depending on availability of tables.
Noisy poor service. Reasonable food
Food was excellent. The vibe was wonderful. Conveniently located.
Nebil, our waiter, and Attilio, the manager, were outstanding! They were very helpful with members of our table that were gluten free and contributed to an excellent evening! I can’t wait to come back!!
Toilets didn’t work.
(Note: We did not stay to seat here) Arrived and seated downstairs despite booking upstairs. Tried to explain to host but quickly realized he had a speech challenge so let the matter drop. Got sat in. Post bar abs presented with overpriced limited menu with few choices. To make matters worse, the red wine list started at $50 per bottle and was mostly higher. While expect that at a bit finer dining, we all found it insulting considering we felt we were dining at a bar with bar food. After server took so long to return to our table, we all 3 decided it was best to leave. $200 wasn’t going to be worth it for dinner in that place.
WOW! Amazing food, amazing drinks, and staff was so friendly and timely! We went for a birthday celebration and our waiter gave us a free tiramisu and glass of Prosecco - so nice and unexpected! Our entrees were phenomenal as well. We will be back!
My salmon dish came, initially, without the salmon. The waitress forgot our order of olives and brought them only when she was reminded (and she asked if we still wanted them). There were about 7-8 olives provided for $9. However, the olives were the best part of the meal. The food itself was not interesting and the smoked salmon, when it came, was fishy. We will not return.
One of my favorite date night spots with my good friends
We sat downstairs at high top tables, good experience but for some reason it was very warm in restaurant so I was uncomfortable for a while until I startled drinking ice water which helped 🤷🏼♀️.
In the Italian custom of 'food is love', The wait team here provides a very personal attention (while not overbearing), and the wine selection and menu are to die for. Truly, you cannot go wrong with Lupo Verde...Tutto Bene!!
It was great! Just make sure they read the notes clients write on your site, when making the reservation. They didn't read that I asked for the most cozy and romantic table en in the to restaurant, do they wanted to seat is in a share table with 3 other people 🥺. They were able very quickly to find a very good solution. Service was excellent! Waiter was professional and warm. Very personal treatment. The food was very good too. Once they knew about our wedding anniversary, they surprised it's with a free slide of tiramisu. That was a great ending note.
I actively told friends not to go... the server put an incorrect order in and then advised a member of my party not to correct it because the kitchen was busy and the incorrect dish, in the server’s opinion, tasted better than the one she ordered. The server failed to mention that a salad I ordered had anchovies although I specifically asked if it was vegetarian. Furthermore, she offered to bring us an aperitif but because neither of us drink - we declined twice, she brought us aperitifs regardless. Noise was extremely loud and seating was narrow.
Very disappointed in the food. I sent a steak back because it was undercooked and extremely tough. Probably the worst steak I’ve ever ordered. Manager didn’t even stop by to apologize.
Surprise birthday for room mate - server was awesome and complimentary dessert was a hit.
We go to Lupo Verde often. Ricco is very knowledgeable in regards to the menu. He explains the cheeses, meats, pastas and give wonderful recommendations. Have not been disappointed yet. Everything is delicious. I especially enjoy the charcuterie and the sparkling rosé.
Love, Love, Love this place! The food was incredible. I went with 2 other guests and tried each person's meal and everything was truly spectacular. We were sat a communal table and our table mates were super friendly. Great wine, great service--I will definitely return on our next trip to DC!
The food was quite good, but not special. The portions were small, especially for the prices. The upstairs room, where we sat, was very pleasant.
We had such a great evening. The food was delicious and our server was a lot of fun and had good recommendations. We will definitely go back!
Wonderful option on U Street Corridor.
Pretty nice but food is really small! Not alot food!!
Felt a bit overpriced, but the place and service were great. Good wine, too! Thanks, Aldo, for the recommendation.
Perhaps it is just me, but I have a hard time getting over a lack of bread when the place "seems like a bread place." Real scientific of me, I know, but some fresh bread would've bumped my rating up a star. In fairness, we were served one round of herby bread bites which, while tasty, lacked the crisp/size elements. Would've been nice to at least receive another round of this to dunk in the delicious sauce of my 'al nero' pasta dish.
I lean more toward the al dente side when evaluating pasta, and was able to find excellent choices in all pasta dishes ordered. Fish seemed just okay, although I quite enjoyed the clams, squid, and octopus featured across my personal courses. Really good slow-cooked lamb neck bolognese across the table from me - wish they'd been sitting closer!
When it comes to recommending this restaurant, it comes with some accompanying qualifications. If you're looking for the best meal of your life, keep looking. If homey Italian eats are on the mind, and you're in it for the overall experience as much as the food itself, it's hard to find a better spot in DC than Lupo Verde. Ambiance and service are top notch.
I didn’t eat any food there. There should really be an N/A option to the rating scale.
Generous portion of fish, perfectly cooked. Pleasant ambiance...a good buzz. Strong wine list (nice Primitivo). They forgot our side dish until we reminded them, but graciously comped it when we did. I would return!
Friends birthday. Very good service and food
The waiter spilled pickle on me and didn’t bring a replacement. Later, he went to refill our wine glasses and he overpoured for the other two guests leaving me with nothing. It was really rude considering that he dumped food right in my lap and I was a really good sport about it. I can’t believe he didn’t bring replacement food, much less offer some sort of righting of the situation. The service has generally been poor and I am hesitant to bring new people there, despite the fact that I love the food.
Great dinner on a lively Sat nite. Every course was Delicious!!
Delicious food, great service! We enjoyed our date for 2 over brunch. Will return!
This was a pretty unfortunate experience. We had a rat run past our table when we sat down, then we were located to the upper floor to be away from any more furry critters. Then later one of our party was stuck outside because they had apparently had a pipe burst and weren't able to let anyone in until it was cleared. Finally, when we did get our food, it had a piece of cardboard in it. I've had many lovely experiences at Lupo in the past, so I'm unsure what in the world struck them on this day or if they've taken a turn in quality. My friends and I made the best of it. I don't think I will be returning in the future though.
Hostess was very rude, ignoring us for like 10 minutes. Food wasn’t good at all, this was a very disappointing experience
Food and wine are “Best of DC” price for “just pretty good” quality. Service was abysmal. Both us and the table next to us were delivered other tables meals twice. We waited so long to order and get refills from our wine bottle. To top it all off once we got our food we didn’t see a waiter till 45 min later when he dropped off the check. Then after he picked it up we waited another 30 min to get my change back so I could properly tip and they just never came back. I flagged down a busboy twice! I was going to tip something reasonable like 15% even though it was so slow but I never had the opportunity to! After a while we just left (thank god I paid in cash, who knows how long i would’ve had to wait for my card) I assume they didn’t want my tip. I will not be going back, food was good but too expensive and I don’t want to wait so long.
Quality but the portion sizes are small for the price. Filomena / Sfoligna prices for half a cup of pasta left me and my date wishing we’d gone elsewhere...
Food is truly outstanding, service could be more efficient
Went for graduation dinner. The Verde salad to die for. Special wine of the evening different and fabulous. Excellent home made pasta. I will go back next time I am in DC.
The bottom part is a bar and smells like cleaning solution
Some of the tastiest homemade Italian food in the DMV! The pastas are so good you will want to eat 3 plates of each one. The desserts are inspirational and whimsical, and equally delicious. Service is top notch. This is one of our favorite restaurants in DC.
Mother’s Day brunch. We were the first in the restaurant when it opened and we were seated next to the door to the kitchen. There was some weird high pitched hissing sound that was annoying not just us but the tables near us. The wall was shaking. My mother ordered coffee that was cold, but thankfully the server heated it up and then it was fine. We both ordered dishes with salmon which should have been good and maybe would be with with different salmon. But the salmon was so salty I could only eat around where the salmon touched and my mom could only eat her noodles. It wasn’t even just like “wow this is salty” it was “wow this tastes disgusting.” The manager did comp the meal 10% which I appreciated but it was so terrible I really think it should have been comped completely... I will not dine here again.
Have been several times and loved it - brunch was a mess and the host could not be bothered to be helpful.
Great atmosphere, outstanding service, and the food was just as notable. With my reservation I made a simple note to congratulate the guests on their anniversary, expecting only the first person that greets us at the door to see that message and perform that request. However that message was communicated to a few other staff members of the restaurant who came up to us at various points during our dinner to congratulate us. A very nice gesture that was appreciated. Would definitely recommend this venue.
I’ve been to Lupo Verde for dinners and brunches multiple times, always highly recommending it to family and friends. This time, however, while we enjoyed ourselves for much of the meal we left frustrated and feeling a bit cheated. We were over-charged twice. Although we got the “brunch deal” of $35 per person, each guest was charged more than $60. The staff acknowledged their mistake and we received a new check, but it was not itemized. Later, we realized we had still been over-charged, but we had already paid and gone through double-checking the bill once, so at that point opted simply to leave. While there is much to like about Lupo Verde, and this may have been an honest mistake, it is frustrating to feel we might have been ripped off a bit.
Delicious Italian fare at a (fairly) reasonable price point. You won't be getting Olive Garden-sized portions, but the cacio e pepe is peerless in DC.
The seating is a bit tight, so be ready for a "cozy" dining experience.
