Wow! Starting from the moment we walked in the door where we were greeted by a fantastic hostess, the great service continued throughout the meal. We were seated in a beautiful table in the upstairs dining room. The food somehow exceeded the quality of the service which didn’t seem possible. Can not wait to return.
Love the brunch and dinner, food is great and staff are very good and friendly.
The food was spectacular. Can not recommend that enough. There is a distinct difference between that and the service that was offered up.
First off if I show up 15 minutes or after a reservation often times that leads to a charge of some sort. So it is difficult to comprehend being seated 20 minutes after my reservation time. During this wait, I presume the manager, offered us a drink while we waited. Perhaps I wrongly assumed that the “drink while you wait” would be on the house due to having to wait 20 minutes after the reservation time to sit (this is not the reasoning for my poor service review).
The waiter was completely indifferent to either his job or our table, not sure which. First off the table next to us was sat after us and had their order taken first. We then had to ask for bread which was dropped at their table upon them sitting. At the end we asked for a dessert menu. After not getting one we asked again and the waiter blamed someone else for not dropping it at our table. We then asked for our wine to be Corked so we could take it home. Eventually he brought the bag to seal the bottle but told us to do it.
The cheese and meats platter it’s a must have; you create your own. Also serve amazing beef & pork ragú.
Really liked the waitstaff, the sommelier, the maitre'd, and the setting, but it just felt pretty average for the price you pay. DC doesn't have great Italian, but there are definitely places that do it better and for cheaper.
Memorable mother's day brunch! The service was exceptional!
Food was excellent! The desert was a delight !
Great food but terrible service. Especially from the receptionist. We had to wait for quite some time despite having reservation, meanwhile those who didn’t have reservation got seated before us. Receptionist made face when I asked to speak to the manager who btw I never got to speak with.
Food was absolutely delicious and out of this world. Can improvise dessert menu though.
Overall, I’ll probably won’t go again since service to me is equally important to me as is food.
Delicious food, great service, followed Covid-related restrictions. Will go again!
This is my second time dining at Lupo and was very excited to share the experience with my family because I knew how delicious the food was going to be. It is authentic, high quality Italian that deserves to be recognized.
Tough to write this review because I know the heart and quality is there despite my not so epic experience. Might’ve just been a busy day where the small attention to detail lacked. If you’ve never been, it is a must. I will be back again.
I made a reservation for 515 and requested an outdoor table upon arrival which meant I had to wait a little bit longer, which was communicated and totally fine. We went for a walk and started to head back to check in again (since I had still not received a text about my table which I was expecting about 25 min later). We ended up waiting for over and hour and finally sat at 6:30.
There was no sense of urgency from the staff/server. We were just like any other table that had not been waiting and it took us three asks to finally get bread out onto the table, but I will say the focaccia was delicious.
I ordered the Ragu and Pork Saltimbocca to split. Both were delicious!! I felt a little slighted on the amount of pasta that came out, and felt the same about the potato side that accompanied the pork dish. For the entree to be $35 it would’ve been great to see some more on the plate. In regards to the meat, it was super tasty and flavorful, cooked perfectly.
Our server was fantastic, and they did something special for the person at our table who was celebrating a birthday! Would highly recommend.
Food was fine, just wasn’t really good! Can get better Italian food other places
We always love our evenings at Lupo. The staff is extremely friendly. The food and drinks are perfect every time.
Pancake and pasta are both very good.
The only annoying part is that we encountered a homeless person standing by our table and trying to get food from us. Would be better if the waiter can come help communicate with the homeless person earlier.
First time dining indoors with COVID. Beautiful upstairs ambience and felt very safe in our little "alcove" with our party of five. Salvatore was exceptional. I had the seafood risotto and it was absolutely wonderful. Others had a cacio de pepe and ragu. Everyone raved. Ambience is important to me along with a good meal and good service. Lupo Verde excelled on all three.
First time eating here, was attracted to go based on the appearance/ambiance of the place whenever I passed by, which did not disappoint. The food however was meh, and not worth the price, to me personally. I got the special, which was a sort of white fish (I believe the waiter referred to it as "dorado" or something?). He said it came de-boned, which it did, but did not mention it would still have the head on it along with the skin, which kind of turned me off. I would have appreciated a better description of the dish beforehand and would not have ordered it if I knew.
This brings me to my next point, overall the waiter didn't do anything wrong, but he was just kinda in and out very quickly and it didn't feel like the service matched the menu prices. The other dishes we got and which I tried were the artichoke appetizer (this was pretty good) and the cacio e pepe pasta dish (which was also good but damn $22 for some pasta cheese and pepper...I guess it is what it is.)
The ambiance was very nice, the fish was okay and a bit too fishy for my taste (oh and it didn't really have any sides in the dish except for some potatoes, again, just meh), and the service was also just meh. There are better places, specifically Italian places at that, to spend your money in my opinion.
Salvatore was great, had great suggestions and was super polite and friendly. Felt safe dinning inside during the pandemic, there was plenty of space between tables.
Great experience! The food was very good and authentic, when compared to many of the other Italian restaurants in DC. The staff were very kind and accommodating as well.
I have been here many times and the food, atmosphere and service is always outstanding.
Fabulous for an Italian twist on brunch. Great day to dine outdoors. Very attentive staff. Carbonara is surprisingly light. Citrus carpaccio is delicious. Superb cocktail menu. Looking forward to HH and dinner.
Not a good experience at all. I went today for brunch with my friend. It was her first time; I have been several times for dinner and brunch. My friend is very allergic to dairy and we advised them to keep anything dairy on the side. Pancakes with cream were delivered to the table which we had to send back for obvious reasons. Replacement order arrived with raw batter pancakes when we cut into them, which once again...we had to send back. Finally about 30 mins since we sat down, a new (correct) order arrived. The entrees we had were delicious (steak with potatoes and avocado/egg). Our drinks took awhile to arrive which should have been a part of the brunch package we selected. One of the staff members abruptly dropped off our check on the table (we did not ask for the check) and of course, the check was incorrect. They adjusted the mistake and brought over a new one. This was an extremely embarrassing experience for me, because I raved about this restaurant to my friend and this ended up being the experience. This was just bad. Plenty of other great restaurants on T/14th street NW. After today, I’m avoiding Lupo Verde.
Such a solid restaurant. Good drinks and food in a cozy atmosphere with kind staff.
The food was good. But the selection was limited. Service was definitely below par. They forgot about the wine and brought after the food was served. We had to ask twice for a box for the dessert. I will try again however. It might have been the server.
Lupo Verde has become very popular - tonight the service was a bit off from their usual high standard. Otherwise, perfect, and a pleasure.
Lupo is a longtime favorite but Monday was an off night. Staff and kitchen couldn't seem to keep up though they had limited seating. Dinner lasted about 2.5 hours as service was very slow with everything, from being seated, to focaccia service and the final entree, taking an unusually long time. The caesar salad was over-dressed and soggy, the pork saltimbocca was drowning in oil and my friend's lamb dish was minuscule with two tiny lamb loins. Dinner for two with just one cocktail, appetizer and entree each totalled close to $170. Simply not worth it this time. Know these are hard times so hate to write this but I hope they will do better next time. They tried to be accommodating but I could tell staff was strained and unhappy.
Fantastic food and service.
Well prepared and fresh Italian dishes, very friendly service and nice vibe with tables outside.
Amazing. The food was spectacular. We enjoyed every moment
Always a pleasant time. Great service, cocktails, meats and cheeses and homemade pasta.
Lupo Verde is a great place to have brunch with friends! While the inside is tiny, they have created a great environment with a covered patio dining area and heaters at each table. Highly recommend the food too!
We always have a delightful time at LupoVerde. The service is professional, and the food is always tasteful and creative. Bring a coat if dining in the evening in spring, as when the sun goes down, it can be a bit chilly.
Service was terrible - they had to have forgotten about our food order and took over an hour to plate and bring it out.
Everything was delicious and service was very conscientious
Good food and great service from the waiter. Rude hostess though
Place is dope and food even doper. I will return I will recommend.
I had a great time there for brunch with friends. Staff was very friendly and professional. And the food was delicious as well. Will be back for sure :)
Birthday! Surprise champagne, dessert, great experience
Friend from out of town
They called me literally 2 minutes before my brunch reservation (at 2:58pm) to tell me that they close the kitchen at 3pm now, contrary to what is on their website and that I would have to order immediately as soon as I was seated. Then, I asked why they would wait until 2 minutes before to tell me that-- they lied and said they had tried to call me earlier in the day-- simply not true. Then the waiter seated us and literally stood there until we decided. Very unprofessional and honestly annoying considering the price of the food at this restaurant. We felt extremely caught off guard and rushed.
It was wonderful experience.
Food is fantastic
Staff is friendly warm and very accommodating
Love it every time
Outstanding food & service. First time visit to celebrate a birthday & will definitely be back.
