Not your red sauce Italian. Very creative take on pasta dishes. The fish and meat entrees were fantastic; from lamb to duck (like Peking) and crispy light cod.
The special cocktails are worth a try and the wine list is diverse and reasonable.
The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was prompt and mindful of COVID precautions. I would visit again in a heartbeat.
Loved it, If only I lived closer,
Another great meal at Lupa. Outdoor set up was comfortable and safe. I can never decide which is better - the service or the food. Doesn't really matter though, just can't wait to return.
Great experience all around. Sad about the curfew but the restaurant didn’t give us the feeling that we were getting kicked out. Always a good time at Lupa!
The outdoor seating is good any weather with substantial cover and heat lamps plus beautiful plants. Relatively empty and comfortable. Staff get a little close though and the contorni/salads were just OK compared to Pre-Covid but entrees and pastas are still AMAZING. Pasta prices increased but are still below normal for this level restaurant.
As always, our dinner at Lupa was great!
We went for our Anniversary and we had an amazing experience. Outdoor dining is beautiful and the cod was delicious. Will be back for sure!
Food was great. The lady who served us was terrible.
This was my second visit in the 2 weeks. It was just as delicious as the first! Authentic Italian style dishes with quality ingredients and presentation.
Disappointing food. Incredibly Slow service.
Wonderful food and Covid protection
Great service didn’t make up for mediocre food. Pasta dishes were excellent, everything else disappointed.
Lupa is one of my favorite 'GO TO' restaurants. I have been at least 20 times over the years. I had a friend in from out of town and did the pasta tasting with the wine pairing and was disappointed for the first time in many years.
Pasta was not fabulous as usual, portions seemed a bit smaller and the flavors were not as 'harmonious' as the past. wine pairing also didn't stand up. Whites were a bit light and reds were way off, extremely light and without the tannins and length of finish to stand up to the spice forward red pasta selections. Pours were small and not worth the $49 price point based on pour size and wines selected.
Who serves sorbet in late October for a dessert??? Apple? Poor finale.
I'll definitely go back, but order off the menu for both pastas and wine. I know what they are capable of and this was an off night.
great place to eat italian pasta. good value
A little too close to our neighbors despite plexiglass. Tables outside felt very tight considering CoVID. Would have been better to get a table inside, but towards the front of the restaurant where it was open air and more socially distanced. Food was good and service was great.
Go to Italian restaurant in Manhattan. The food is always spectacular.
Delicious food. If you sit outside, try to be under the tent rather than on the sidewalk
There was not enough social distancing. I love Lupa but would probably not eat there again until the pandemic is over.
It was my first time at this restaurant and the food and wine was great. Service towards the end faded a little bit but otherwise a very good experience.
Giving five stars for the food alone - this was one of the best meals I’ve had all year. Cacio e Pepe was perfect, and the cocktails were very well made. The service was not good unfortunately - first a 20 minute wait to order, then a rush to get us to pay at the end because they wanted to seat another party. But with food like this, it was still a five star night.
This is my go to place for cacio e pepe and carbonara. They hit the right notes, from the olive oil they serve with the bread, to the crisp saltiness of the foccaccia. Clearly in my top 3 Italian spots in the city
Excellent food and service. We were sitting in a very tight spot under a tent though; this woman kept turning in her chair and looking at me as if I was in her way when I was literally jammed in a corner and couldn’t move. And there was a VERY loud snap every time the canvas flapped in the wind.
Even after 20 years, Lupa never ceases to satisfy and sometimes amaze. Nothing like long sunday lunch here, even outside on Thompson Street due to Covid. The food is really wonderful -- as good as anything in Rome — and all done correctly.
Our waiter was great but maybe overworked as he disappeared for long periods -- once carrying our not yet opened bottle of prosecco! But he had good advice & was charming.
The food is great, the wine is excellent, and the staff are impeccable and lovely.
Rustic Italian Osteria where the simplicity of good wholesome food, home made pastas, and an unbelievable wine selection ( best wines by the glass selection in all of NYC) make for an unforgettable meal. Be sure to come during White Truffle season and order the white truffle papardelle.
Chef doesn’t disappoint. My absolute favorite NYC Italian restaurant.
They did a nice job with Covid safety
Food was great
Drinks were really nice
Excellent service from the entire team
It has been a while back to Lupa. I am very impress with the restaurant service and foods.
Definite will go back again!
One of the best if not the best Italian restaurant in NYC
Pasta Tasting🍝 is the way too go. Every dish was amazing
The food was impeccable and service was terrific. Despite limited options, our server moved us from a noisy birthday party to a quieter corner. All outside. Go Lupa!!
We had the escarole salad, Nonna's meatballs, bavette cacio e pepe and sirloin steak. They were delicious. I will definitely go back to try other things on the menu.
We are frequent diners (until Covid). This was our first time back since pre-Covid and so excited to return to our favorite place. Service was horrendous. We bought a nice bottle of wine that was never poured after the first glass. The waiter never returned. I had to motion him over to ask for grated cheese...which was never brought over. And the place wasn’t busy. You can look up my history. We spend good money everyone time we come. Huge disappointment.
Wine list wasn’t updated. Quality of the food was not as good as I remember it but the staff and service was great!
I've enjoyed Lupa in the past, so I'm not sure what happened, but wow was it bad! Our pasta was so undercooked it tasted like cardboard. We waited an incredibly long time to get our food while our server disappeared. We finally asked a different server to check on our food. So, the food was awful and the service bad. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but we won't be back.
Lupa makes the best of a challenging situation with COVID restrictions... comfortable outdoor seating, same attention to good service and wonderful food and wine. We came last seating and while they were cleaning up and taking down tables and chairs around us we did not feel rushed and the work around us was discrete.
All around lovely experience from end to end. Very nice outdoor set up and well protected should you be there on a rainy night
They do not have enough stuff. Stuff is not trainer well.
