Burnt ny steak, that amazingly made it to the table. Lqck of attention from the kitchen and the serving staff
I had heard good things about Lupa, so perhaps it’s only become substantially worse recently. The tables are packed so close as to be a caricature of a New York restaurant. Our server did not know the menu well and provided poor recommendations. It took 20 minutes to get someone to identify for us the white bean purée crostini that had been brought to our table without a word. Our food took absurdly long, so they brought us a rather parsimonious caprese salad, way overdressed with balsamic vinegar. When our food was ready, they simply took it away, even as we were eating it, without asking. My food arrived with a different accompaniment than stated in the menu, but our server simply shrugged off the discrepancy. In all, the service was clumsily unprofessional, the food was so-so, and the atmosphere severely lacking. Why bother?
Delicious meal. Loved all that we ate. From the delicious pastas to the chicken. And the Tartufo Service was great as well Great neighborhood place. Will definitely be returning
Lupa is always excellent. After dining there a la carte many times, this time I did the pasta tasting menu with wine pairings, and it was even better. Great wine selections and large pours and food portions.
Always love Lupa! Everything was delicious. Appetizers were great, very authentic Italian. Had a gnocchi pasta that was terrific. Would highly recommend.
Amazing. Super professional staff, traditional Roman fare with twists along the way.
Our pasta was a bit too salty... otherwise we are never disappointed after all these 15 years
This is first time ever I’ve had to walk out of a restaurant. We arrived on time for our reservation at 4:30 pm. Our table wasn’t ready, ok no big deal. The restaurant was pretty empty I believe they had just opened. We sat down and ordered a bottle of water which was the only thing we got. After that, we ordered a bottle of wine and waited 30 min for someone to come say they didn’t have the bottle, 15 min later I complaint and the waitress answer was “I’m sorry we are going through a big transition”, so she took our order. We order another bottle of wine and the food… another 15 min passed and we got nothing, not the wine and not even bread. At this point we had been sitting there for 1 hour just drinking water. I had to stand up to speak with the hostess and pay her for the water, because they wouldn’t even bring us the check. I’ve worked in restaurants for years and believe me I can understand what being understaffed or busy is, but this place was EMPTY, the employees where there walking around and not getting even drinks after 1 hour is completely unacceptable. Highly disappointed.
Great food, great outdoor ambience, great service and great time with a dear friend - Lupa never disappoints!
Fabulous food, wine and staff. Favorite restaurant in Manhattan
this was our third or fourth meal at lupa, but not up to the standards of earlier meals. fritto misto was rather greasy; lamb scotaditto was fair. pastas were good. wine was good, but very overpriced.
Food was great, as usual. However, we were very annoyed about all the “rules” imposed by the restaurant. We had a party of 7, and only 2 people from our party wanted to order from the “Restaurant Week” menu. We were not allowed to, because the chef will only allow this menu if the ENTIRE party is ordering from it. Very deceptive and disappointing, when you find a restaurant that participates and is marketed for Restaurant Week, but doesn’t allow customers to freely chose what they would like to order.
Food was overly salty
Sent pasta back twice
Pesto was spicy and there wasn’t any sausage
Not as good as I remember back in the past
Average cuisine limited menu and relatively uninspiring food presentation. Great wine list . Staff was attentive. Tables are way to close. Place needs a face lift. Very dark colors which hides a lot of stuff in a restaurant. Extremely small restrooms place is not handicapped friendly. One of the outdoor tables the customer was sitting over a cellar door.
Good food and extra friendly service.
eh, ma mama taught me not to say nothing at all if you don't got nothing nice to say
It’s the best pasta in the city, I dare you to challenge that
All was great. Getting bread and salt required a lot of asking.
Food came after a long time (25 minutes after ordering).
Food was good.
It was a pity that they couldn't write any name on the birthday plate..
Pasta is still outstanding
Great food and a wonderful server. Recommended the perfect wine. My only regret is the meats were very good but the pasta was AMAZING! Next time I will do the pasta tasting menu!!
Great small space with excellent food and an affordable wine list. The ricotta gnocchi were light and delicious; the porcetta was fatty and full of flavor. From start to finish, the best!
very busy, good food, not great service though
Service was awful
Outstanding in every manner. The good brought us back to fond memories of many trips to Rome. Absolutely “to die for!”
Other than our salad being overdressed, everything was lovely.
The waiter was absent
Worst experience ever. Waiter or waitress never came to take orders and ended up waiting 30mins. No other employee helped us and the attitude of the hostess was quite rude and unfriendly.
Fantastic place! So glad to be back there! The food is still as great as is the atmosphere.
seated at a 3 top facing the wall when we were essentially the only diners. Server took cocktail order, then we never saw her again. Second server asked for cocktail order. Food not quite pre-pandemic levels ... still very good.
One of the best Italian restaurants. The strozzspreti with short rib ragu was amazing!!!! Really the best dish in the whole menu.
Fantastic food, great drinks/wine list and cozy atmosphere. Will go again if I’m in that part of town. Highly recommend.
Amazing food! We will definitely be back. Overall great experience
Lupa never disappoints. Had lamb rigatoni. Their pastas are always cooked perfectly. Highly recommend!
Bad table. Otherwise, great experience.
This is our favorite restaurant when visiting NYC. It never disappoints. Love the pasta carbonara!
Will not return because the music in the “quiet” area was too loud and inappropriate. What about Italian classical for an Italian restaurant?
Excellent wine pairing. Sad that most of the pasta dishes were way too salty.
Cute, good service
