The food was very tasty and the service was also very attentive. However, the food (despite being delicious) was very oversalted. The cake with pear dessert was excellent. We enjoyed the fish and pasta very much and plan to come back.

My husband, 21 year old son, 6 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed an early dinner at Lupa. We originally had reservations for a 6:00 dinner, but arrived about an hour early and Lupa gladly accommodated us with no problems. We would have been more than happy to wait, but we pleased we didn't have to. We were wiped out from traveling (made a trip from Michigan to visit a list of NYC restaurants, Central Park, etc.), but our waiter made us feel very comfortable and took great care of us. We ordered appetizers--marinated olives and the octopus--both delicious; Market Fish with sunchokes, grapefruit & broccoli, Papparadelle, Short rib and the Crispy duck agrodolce--all wonderful--perfect proportions, well executed. Thank you!

Not a pleasant experience from any angle. Too crowded. Food ridiculously underwhelming and overpriced. Service a joke. It felt like we were doing a huge favor to our waiter by being there. Will not be going back.

As always Mario Batali out does himself! I took my younger brother and his girlfriend here for their first time and they were blown away by everything. This was my second time here and it was better than the first. The food seems to just get better each time I go to one of his places. We will definitely be going to his other establishments.

Wonderful! This is a hard-to-find restaurant. Vibrant crowd. I asked if I could only dine here once, what would they suggest....pasta! Prosciutto is melt-in-your mouth delicious. Amazing wine list. Ienjoy!

Two of us shared 4 apps and a pasta so we could taste as much as possible. We were blown away. The flavors were fantastic. Even a simple pasta with olive oil, butter, cracked pepper and grated cheese was amazing. We looked at each other, knowing the ingredients, and wonder why it was so delicious!

Lovely food. Simple, ingredient-driven, just like Italy. Highlights were the delicate sardines with golden raisins and the best bucatini al amatriciana outside Rome.

Not impressed with the hosts at this place. Even for lunch on a slow day, they refuse to seat you unless your entire (small) party has arrived, which can be awlward and disruptive when you meet someone for a business lunch.

I came with high expectations, hearing friends talk about how much they adore this Batali spot-even more than his others. We were celebrating a birthday, which went unacknowledged by the hostess & waiter, despite my having noted it in my reservation as well as upon checking in. I'd have thought at least a biscotti w/ a candle, but no. What was meant to be a celebration of a milestone birthday was a little lackluster. The food was tasty and the timing of the courses was very good; I just hoped for that little something extra. We had the mackerel (tasty, but hoped the skin would be less chewy) and a special bufala mozzarella, then we split the linguettini w/ calamari and meyer lemon, and tile fish special & short rib mains, and tartufo.

The myer lemon sauce with calamari pasta was absolutely outstanding. This is our fourth time at this restaurant and never disappointed. My wife had the ricotta gnocci which also was light and extra delicious. For appetizer we had fresh sardines with raisons and pine nuts. We also had their olive assortment that we always order because it's so good. For desert we had real Italian cappicino with chocolate tarte and poached dated with stuffed almonds in a cherry sauce.

What a great meal and excellent service. The freshly sliced prosciutto was amazing as was the octopus and chard. We loved the saltimbucco and homemade sausages too. This was a great choice for a short trip to NYC.

The back room at this location has the ambience of grandma's formal dining room. The front is romantic but I was not feeling the romance in our Valentine's dinner in the back room. C'mon Lupa. You can afford a little face lift back there!

But the restuarant and food - amazing and lovely as always.

Regarding the food: I went for Restaurant Week Winter 2012, so perhaps the food quality is substantially better when one doesn't order from the fixed lunch menu. Nevertheless, I was extraordinarily disappointed by the food quality at Lupa.
INSALATA DI ZUCCA; ROASTED WINTER SQUASH SALAD WITH SHAVED PECORINO: This salad was, quite frankly, terrible. Apparently unmixed, bites were alternately very sour or extremely salty.
ABBACHIO BRODETTATO; MILK BRAISED LAMB WITH BUCKWHEAT POLENTA: Lovely polenta, unfortunate lamb. The meat was cooked tenderly but lacked any sort of flavor. Bland and full of gristle, this dish was completely inadequate.
TARTUFINO: Compared with the other dishes, the tartufino was relatively good, but nothing spectacul

We were extremely disappointed after the restaurant was recommended to us. Our server was clearly unhappy with her job and was very rude the entire time. Having worked with Mario in a fundraiser we had high expectations, but would never recommend it to anyone.

Have gone to lupa many times and thoroughly enjoyed it but this last time was off their usual provided experience.The restaurant was not well attended(unusual) and the foods we had(and have had a number of times) was not to the level where we would rave about it.Maybe it was just an off night.

After many years of watching Mario on television, it was a great kick to have lunch at Lupa. Fun atmosphere and excellent food. A great place in a great neighborhood. Our waiter could have used a bit more sleep the night before...he wasn't quite "with it" but we easily got past that. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared . Would have loved to see the orange clogs passing by, but one can't have everything during one lunch visit. The only thing. Enter would have been lunch at Lupa, then dinner at Babbo!

By far the best restaurant week restaurant I've gone to. I went for lunch and everything was absolutely delicious. My only gripe is that I wish there was more Cacio de Pepe so I could enjoy more of it. My friends loved it as well. 5 stars!
