Lupa was everything I remembered from decades ago. It has a great formula and wisely doesn't change it. The antipasti were of the highest quality, and the main courses were a worthy follow-up. It's not a thrilling or surprising or even fashionable place, but it's a place where one eats good food and feels good. Nice value for the money as well.

My wife and I dined at Lupa for the second time in from Toronto for the weekend and for the second time had a great experience. In fact I wrote a similar review for the same restaurant a couple years back, which is not something I often do , so I feel like the fact we had great service, great food and a great time is not an accident. Cheers to Lupa and a special thanks to our server & bartender Kevin , my " tocayo" i learned , as we spent the evening dining at the bar. Good times . Until next time . K + C

No restaurant in Manhattan cooks pasta to such an exquisitely perfect moment of doneness — and with such consistency. The staff is amiable and efficient, the bar man Kevin is a mixologist with an engaging manner. Great to revisit and see high standards being upheld.

We ordered the spinach pasta with lamb ragu - there was mostly pasta - we never tasted the lamp ther was hardly any ragu in the plate. It was the special. When we ordered 60$ red wine - the bottle was warm - it was really lack of experience- And tact. The waiters/ busboys / were surrounding our table every 4 minutes to hurry us out of the resto. Horrible experience- so many better Italian Restaurents in the city. Still left a 20% tip.

Lupa has been solid for many years and I would say since coming back from Covid it’s as good as ever. The linguine with Clams was perfect and the DUCK never disappoints. Finally the wine list is extensive from every region of Italy including some value on the list. The staff was also great! Thank you for a great evening!

I had Lupa on my list of restaurants to try for many years but was discouraged because it was difficult to get a reservation, I knew I was going to be just a few blocks away on Sunday afternoon so I tried in succeeded. So glad I did. The food was delicious, Exactly the type of Roman Italian fare I wanted to eat. The service was attentive; the decor made me think I was in Rime again. I’ll surely eat at Lupa again, and so will my friend.

It was not what we expected. Food not great, my moms plate was with too much salt and garlic. No one care to apologize the only thing they wanted was for my mom to order another plate and not compensate for the bad moment. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE

One of our favorite restaurants in NYC we showed up ready to enjoy some of our favorite dishes. It seemed to be missing some of the more interesting seasonal apps that we’ve enjoyed in the past. That was ok, but we made a grave error in ordering the pasta tasting. We love the pasta, but the portions were so big we were stuffed after round one, we had another 4 to go. So it started a feel a bit miserable. Plus many of the pastas dishes tasted similar with the thick creamy sauce that were kind of icky for a summer dish. We should have asked more questions before ordering or maybe the bar tender (we sat at the bar) could have given us a heads up on the size… anyway it ended up feeling like a wildly expensive pasta night without it feeling special or worth it. We are looking forward to coming back to Lupa, but won’t order that again.

I’ve been going to Lupa for 20 years and it used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Alas, my last visit there was so disappointing that it will be my last visit. Doos was served at random with sides coming out with apps. Pastas took 20 minutes longer. During that lull we tried to order 6 different bottles from the list, each of which was sold out! We finally got a glass of wine and everyone at the table agreed that it was one of the worst dinner experiences we’d had recently.

we had a lovely evening and the service is great. Starting off I was very surprised they had no champagne available. We were seated way in the back right under a loudspeaker so it was a little bit too loud. Also the food was very good but not really great. I think the last time I went which was a long time ago it was really great. Still super fine restaurant though.

The service needs improvement. The servers are not as experienced and polished as they used to be. It seems they lack training. Servers should not interrupt while dining and must be careful when serving beverages and food. Also, my cacio e pepe pasta was lacking pepe!

Terrible experience. Squashed, very greedy seating. Bad attitude of wait staff. Could not order an appetizer of olives to have with a glass of wine until the entire order was taken. We ordered specifically for each of us. I ordered a salad and fish. My wife ordered a pasta and sides. My salad came and nothing else came for ½ hour. Then it all came at once and filled the table. All in all most disappointing and would not recommend to anyone. I do not thing that this was a one off. I think that Bastianich is not paying attention and the result is what we experienced. Disgusting!

The fact that ALL the old staff is gone can clearly be felt. Service was average at best. Not knowledgeable, courses came out before we were finished with previous ones and had to be sent back etc etc.

Pastas were excellent and flavorful; the roasted duck was dry and dull. I had to pour balsamic vinegar (remaining from the focaccia dipping) all over it to give it some spark and flavor. Don't know what happened with that order in the kitchen. Probably should have sent it back and just ordered another pasta. I'd tell diners to be cautious about ordering this item in the future.

It was an off night for Lupa. After many, many years (seriously) of coming here, it was an extremely disappointing experience. Arriving Sunday evening at 10:15pm prior to an 11pm posted closing time, there were few guests in the restaurant. After ordering, the server returned to let me know that the chef wasn't happy with the side of broccoli rabe I had ordered, so I opted for the "appetizer" of crispy brussel sprouts as a side to my entree. They were served lukewarm, and were any thing but crispy, as they were swimming in balsamic vinegar (which I detest and was not part of the description of the presentation). I had ordered the saltimbocca, which has been a popular choice of others whenever I've been here. I ate less than a third. It was woefully undercooked, i.e. raw. Unfortunately the server never checked in with how our meals were. When he eventually did, I told him I would take the rest home and cook it myself.

Good food, short menu. Tables are stacked like sardine cans, we felt as tho we were on the west side bike lane. Extensive wine list. Service was great. Marco our server and Ishmael at the bar were great, as well as the manager Giuglio. We had a good time and will be back.

Lupa was recommended by a friend as a perfect place to help celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and my daughter’s 21st birthday, trip to NYC. The food was excellent, Italian at its best and as good as I’ve had anywhere, including many trips to Italy. What was exceptional though, was the atmosphere, the brilliant staff and their fantastic service and wonderful attention to detail. Thanks Lupa for a really special night for my family. A place I’d recommend if you want an amazing experience.

Ab-so-lutely Delicious- every dish was amazing! Service and food timing was also perfect. A favourite for our family and definitely a must-eat at restaurant when in NYC.
