What Insiders Are Saying
Lupa is an ideal spot for that early-in-the-week dinner in Greenwich Village that you sort of want to cancel but can’t.
Top 10 Pasta tradicional en NY, precio Justo, gran atención, deliciosa pasta
Everything was wonderful. Pasta tasting was amazing. My only advice would be to heat the font dining area a bit more. Many guests were complaining about the draft that were sitting in close proximity to the door.
My prickly pear cocktail was delicious. I ordered goat cheese agnolotti and the pasta was melt in your mouth. The Brussels sprouts in balsamic reduction were excellent.
Then I ordered a decaf and it wasn’t a decaf because I was awake all night.
The restaurant was busy and service was rushed but there is no excuse to give coffee to someone who requests decaf, it’s just sloppy , and ruined my night and next day.
Great restaurant with delicious food, great service and nice ambience.
I did not like the service, I guess waiter was impatient.
All 4 of us loved the dishes we ordered. Two of us had the Bavette Cacio e Pepe. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the blend of cheese and pepper was just right - not too cheesy with just the right bite of pepper, one of the best we have eaten. The Baby Octopus with Almond, Grapefruit and Olives was tender and very flavorful. Adding the grapefruit provided a cool citrus contrast. Service was very good and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Would highly recommend.
The pasta tasting menu and wine pairings made for a memorable dining experience that I will not soon forget! I can’t wait for my next visit!
Very tasty dinner! Good service. Portion sizes could be larger.
waitress overly chill (slow). Music too loud. Pasta yummy
Food was fantastic...service was attentive...overall great experience and highly recommend!
Food, service, ambiance...all wonderful! A gem of a restaurant.
Excellent foodie restaurant!
Went there New Year’s Day for brunch. Some of the waitstaff appeared to be late, but the bartender and other staff filled in seamlessly. Service was excellent, food was wonderful, great music playing in the background at just the right volume. The spinach and pear salad with speck was phenomenal, as well as my cacio e Pepe.
Staff made my wife feel terrible, after purge was lost. extremely unprofessional. Also good food terrible value
We ate there on New Year's Eve. Granted, it's a busy night. But we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. Our salads arrived even before our glasses of wine, and once the wine was on our table, the waitress kept filling and refilling at a fast clip.
Also, I'm not sure my salad was as ordered -- supposed to be frisee but was mostly romaine. And two of teh specials were sold out by 8 p.m.
This might be nitpicking, but when you shell out $150 for dinner, I expect more, especially since I've eaten at Joe's mother's restaurant (Lidias) many times and it's always been spot-on.
I felt hosed. Will not return.
Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Qualität des Essens ausgezeichnet.
Love this restaurant and the food is outstanding. Surprised, however, when we got our bill and a bottle of wine was added that we never ordered. Mistake quickly corrected, but what if we hadn't checked our receipt? A restaurant of this quality shouldn't be sloppy.
Great lunch with family on trip into City. Front room superior to back.
Lupa is always a solid meal. From the appetizers to the entrees, each dish shows a great balance of flavors and presentation. There are plenty of options for those who prefer to stick with traditional American-style Italian food, but the real stars are those containing offal and lesser known cuts. Don't miss the pickled pigs tongue on the charcuterie board, it is addictive. The wine list is extensive, stocked with many hard-to-find wines, although bargains are few and far between. Service is on point, with the perfect level of attention without being overbearing.
Our server Victoria was the best we felt taken care of from the minute we arrived. Every bite was divine. Chef James has created such a special place - thank you!
Prosciutto platter was a half size portion compared to what we had during another meal at the same restaurant.
Wonderful, warm ambience & spectacular food. Service outstanding. We will be back
Hands down best dining experience on our trip to New York. We had a fantastic leisurely lunch, our wait person was outstanding and every bite was perfect. Luna is a gem and so glad our friends recommended it!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Luna is one of our two favorite restaurants.
Out waitress was a little tough but other than that the food and ambiance were great!!
Delicious pastas, nice ambience and good service.
The loveliest Italian restaurant. Great service and delightful plates.
Over Rated. Restaurant was crowded and tables were right on top of one another. We had a table of 5 - trying to enjoy a holiday night out. Wait staff was unfriendly-annoyed that our gifts were on the floor and in their way. When food arrived the portions were ridiculously small and everyone was still hungry afterwards (not what we expected). Wine list was limited (odd for an italian restaurant, eg. no pinot grigio!) Tables with young kids being very loud - back room was fairly empty and we should have been given a table back there. We were rushed in giving our gifts to one another (felt like a "fast food" restaurant.) Would never return.
The main dishes were excellent, but the cauliflower side was not to my liking. The service was exceptional. The ambiance is comfortable. But the prices are too high. I'm just saying, this is probably a place for a special occasion!
Very horrible music. 80’s songs, grunge music and at one point Black Sabbath. A Jersey diner would have better ambiance.
Disappointing. Veal Saltimbocca way overcooked and tough.
They attempted to seat three of us at a table for two with other empty tables.
The wait person neglected to bring our salad.
The food is excellent but the above is unacceptable.
Had an early (4:30) dinner with my girlfriend. It wasn’t crowded at that time. The food was great, the service was great. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Terrible service. Good food tho.
Outstanding pasta, great wine list and amazing service. The ambience is a bit loud, but still very romantic. Can't wait to go back!
authentic authentic authentic
killing it as always
What lousy service. The meal was ok but not good enough to offset the really tepid attention from the wait staff and host. The first time we came to Lupa was last year when we reserved the entire back room for a company dinner spending thousands on dinner. We figured we’d go back, this time for a smaller family birthday. It was a completely different experience. Too many other superior eateries to patron to condone this service.
Just mediocre, recption was excellent servers shirt not good needs ironing
