Best duck ever. Apps were awesome. But staff made us feel very rushed...almost unwelcome. I have been to many more of a “scene” restaurants. But never felt so pressured to eat and leave.

One of those restrurants that you have to take parents, close friends, special people too. I asked the manager for suggestions, they were spot on. Never felt hurried.

Got a table on short notice, so glad we did. We shared some pastas as appetizers. The Oxtail Ravioli and Bavete Cacio de Pepe were outstanding. I ordered the Saltimbocca for my main course which was nothing like I thought it would be, but nontheless fantastic. Would definitely come back again!

Great meal as always at this very authentic italian restaurant between Soho and Greewich village. The chicken liver crostini were fantastic.

We had the Roman tasting menu and really enjoyed sampling the ingredients and flavors that exemplify Italian food. The rigatoni was our hands down favorite - three days later I'm still thinking about that crispy guanciale...will definitely have the salumi next time!

Totally over rated. Service was terrible and food was very average. Very pretentious for a restaurant that serves average Italian food. They are trying too hard to be hip. They should stick to making good Italian food.

Pretetentious and over priced!
I ordered the veal stuffed with sweetbread. It came totally over cooked and well done, dry and chewy. The waitress was nice to let me choose something else.so I ordered the special of the day— the oxtail.
Not good for value. A single oxtail in the serving costs $24!!! And it was not giving me a religious experience. My friend ordered a dish of simple pasta with black pepper, which is over $20! I went home and I’d the same, with pasta bought from Eataly. It costs me less than $5 and tasted just the same!

Walked in seated right away , tables are a bit close together but managed ok . First course beet app was very good spinach salad was okay - The pasta .... my linguini with mussels shrimp was very salty almost to the point of not being able to eat it . Disappointed because I loved the fennel and the seafood in it . The sausage in the pesto cavatelli was burnt... kind of left disappointed on this visit .

While the pasta first course was quite good, the second course veal saltibucca was an embarassment. Round and cooked solid like a pancake. Tough as leather. Wife had seafood pasta which would have been ok except that it was over salted. Do not recommend

The food was amazing,
service is TERRIBLE,
AWFUL for special occasions.

The tasty food it’s probably the only thing that saved the experience of dining at the restaurant.

When we made the reservation online we informed the staff that we would be celebrating our anniversary. Likewise we informed them when we got to the place.

The waiter that took care of asked us if we wanted wine, we declined. And then he didn’t show up for 15 minutes, I had to get another person to get him for us.

We placed our food order and it was amazing.
Usually in most restaurants when you are celebrating a special occasion they give you a cake or a tart something to make your experience memorable. That unfortunately didn’t happen here.

As I said before if it wasn’t for the food our review would be very different so kudos to the chef!!

This is our third time at Lupa. The first time we went here two years ago it was wonderful, The second time we sat at the bar and had a terrific time. Our third was unfortunately awful, the service was very shoddy. We had a late night dining reservation and felt like we were being rushed the minute we got there. We had four servers take care of us so we never knew who to ask when we needed something. One server who took our order and then announced that he was leaving as if expecting a gratuity for doing so, disappeared and we never saw him again. We were sat in the back, the closest to the kitchen and I kept getting bumped as people were pushing past mostly servers to bring out dishes. As we were having our Last drink of the evening, the music was turned up really loud and it changed from soothing background music to loud, aggressive music, the lights were partially turned up and yes we got the hint-get out we all want to go home. Very disappointed. Not at all what I would've expected from a restaurant that I was so looking forward to visiting and had made reservations for weeks in advance. We rushed from a show in Brooklyn just to eat there. Will not be going back until there is a real front of house presence taking care of the running of the restaurant, especially it's paying customers.

I've eaten at Lupa a few times -- it was one of my favorite places -- but I hadn't been here in about a year. It was pretty disappointing, like the kitchen is just going through the motions. Side plates of Brussels sprouts and broccoli rabe were overcooked and luke warm and the main courses were pretty bland. Wait staff were great but it feels like it should do with a shake-up.

This was my second visit with friends to Lupa and it was most enjoyable. The service was great and we could hear clearly and well over the noise of the room. Love the variety and the deli Roman themed menu. I've been to Esca, Eataly and Casa Mono too. Love everything. I live in the Portland area and frequent Salumi as well. Great, delicious foods!

How can an Italian restaurant fail at serving the most simple meal...Spaghetti con Pomodoro? The dish was so salty that we had to send it back. We also ordered a special of the day, Braciole con Mezzi Ragitoni, also very salty. I refrained from sending it back because in addition to the excessively salty taste, it was not prepared or presented properly. I prepare Braciole myself and would never serve it the way Lupa did. It consisted of half-length rigatoni, hence the Mezzi Rigatoni, with smaller than bite-size pieces of beef mixed in with the pasta and red sauce. Maybe it was prepared as Braciole or maybe not, I’ll never know!

Our dinner at Lupa was disappointing, and not nearly as good as the 2x I’ve been there in the past.

My dinner - Cacio e Pepe - had far less cacio OR pepe than when I’ve had it at Lupa before. It was basically buttered noodles. My companions’ meals were better.

Ambiance - the music was so loud and “hard” that it was nearly impossible to hear the server or my companions. It made for an unpleasant experience.

Service: timing was off. We waited too long to order, and the gap between appetizers and entrees was noticeably long. It seemed our server was spread thin across a few too many tables.

My drink was great, and one server/hostess/manager was very friendly and went out of her way to check on us.

The food is really excellent. The flavors tend to be complicated --which is fun. I was glad we were in the back room because as we left through the front room (where the bar is) the noise was deafening. At one point there was loud, repetitive music in a speaker above my head that was driving me crazy. When I asked a waiter if the volume could be lowered the sound went way down immediately. That was nice!

What could have been an excellent dining experience was marred by subpar service!

We sampled some excellent dishes (gossamer thin tuna carpaccio, tangy sardines in citrus marinade, oxtail ravioli, brilliant octopus...) but the service was an entirely different story. I felt a constant pressure to rush through my dinner -- service staff repeatedly wanting to clear our plates when they could see that we had not yet finished. Three of them turned up within seconds of each other and the third one was even graceless enough to bring over a carton for us to pack our food! Our waitress hardly knew anything about the wines on the list and when asked for a recommendation, all that she could say was "maybe you can order a bottle"! Later, she tipped over our wine glass and carafe. As a courtesy, would have expected her to offer to refill the glass. Forget that - she didn't even offer to change the stained tablecloth!! Finally, at the end of our meal, we ordered a liqueur and waited and waited. When it didn’t come, we called her back to remind her and her reaction was a vague “oh, I didn’t realize you wanted it”! What kind of a response was that??? Can't tell if it was a case of poor training or the staff is overwhelmed by the popularity of their restaurant and just have enough bandwidth for perfunctory customer service.

I'm from out of town and a few people had recommended this restaurant. It's a smallish, busy resto but the service team works together efficiently. There were so many delicious and reasonably-priced options to select from - it was hard to decide! I have a gluten allergy and I was thrilled to discover that they have a gluten-free pasta that they make in-house. It was excellent! I would definitely go back!

My husband and I had a lovely Saturday lunch at Lupa this past weekend. He had the weekly special (the half baby roast chicken -- delicious), I had the duck confit with tomato sauce over pasta (good, but very rich), and we shared the spinach salad and the brussels sprouts (fabulous). Nice waiter, good wine, fun atmosphere. The music seemed pointless to me -- people were there to talk, and all one could hear was the bass.
