The place was cozy and romantic. It had an old yet contemporary decor about it. The staff is friendly and quite accommodating. And the prices are extremely fair. If your a wine conessiour this place has a huge Italian selection, from all regions, and price ranges.
As always outstanding
This was my fourth time at Lupa, I always go for the Caccio e Pepe which I love, not this time though. It was bland, looked it was done in a rush, not the rich and creamy pasta I remembered. Other dishes were ok. I think Lupa isn’t as good as it was before.
Food is really good, the place is a cozy elbow w/ elbow type of place, tables are very close to each other but we liked it. Gives it a different vibe. The Wine list was extensive, however t he appetizer menu was some how reduced. The service was good and prices are correct. I would definitely go back and I do recommend it.
Really enjoyed our meals. Great food, reasonable portions and sizes. Miss the brussel sprouts side dish
Birthday celebration. The menu is limited which we knew. We started with a prosciutto appetizer and a salad - both were good. We had two pasta dishes which were really delicious. The special pork braciola was terrific and my son had the skirt steak which was very food but for $29 we expected a decent sized steak not 4-5 small thin slices. Desserts were ok. Overall the experience was good.
Given high Google rating and even Michelin recommendation I was expecting good italian food. We ordered tasting menu + wine pairing, which in my mind should represent the best the restaurant has to offer. Appetizer and the first pasta were good, all the rest was mediocre at best. Lousy tomato pasta with burned bacon, okay ox tail, 3 small pieces of cheap cheese with a lot of bread to fill the empty plate and ice cream. Same goes with all the wines; none of the wines were great, quite frankly you get better wines from WSJ wineclub basic level. For instance they had one white and one red wine from the same bulk producer Cincinnato, the white was one of the cheapest wines on the list (40usd per bottle), retail price for both barely 10usd per bottle. Paid 160usd per person for the mediocre experience. Needless to say very disappointed.
Summary: food+wines clearly overpriced - not worth it. Good: atmosphere/interior, music list and staff.
Food is always wonderful and the pasta is always perfectly cooked.
Took my daughter to the village and was told Lupa was a good choice. We were lucky we went- it was a Thursday lunch and was not crowded service was good - young professional staff.
Had the sardines, excellent- also salad with apple and prosciutto
Well balanced flavors.
Both pasta dishes were excellent - bucatini and the gnocchi-
Excellent. We had to ask for Parmesan cheese which added the special touch.
Wine is reasonable price especially the quartino choices.
All in all a very good lunch
Incredible food, the pasta tasting menu was incredible value! Best pasta in the city for this price! Amazing!
Great food and service. They were 15 min late with our reservation for 4 as people at our table were chatting and they offered us each a glass of bubbles for our patience without us asking or having been upset. Best drinks ever and love the Carbonara there!
This restaurant had come highly recommended by friends, but still we were delighted by all of our meals. Will absolutely return. But book well in advance...fills up quickly.
Love this restaurant, has such a good vibe.
We meet friends and family, lovely for 2 people or a party.
We have always had a memorable time , I am a Brit and it is my favourite restaurant in New York, can’t wait for the next occasion.
Great wine list and the dishes are very authentic.
Well done Lupa for getting it right.
The waitress and busgirl were very attentive, kind and cordial. All the food was outstanding. The flavors were very familiar and similar to the native Roman homestyle cuisine to which I am accustomed. The pajata finta was outstanding, as was the Alpician dates and mascarpone dessert. I enjoyed the tripe antipasto but thought there would be a richer sauce and mint flavor - but it's according to taste. And I'm always appreciative of the special amuse bouche. All my experiences at Mario Batali restaurants - including Babbo and Esca - have been great.
They serve really good pasta! Restaurant location is also good.
It was great
Slightly disappointed with Lupa. Food was uneven. Pasta dishes were well prepared , and the pasta was cooked perfectly. BUT there was something missing. The carbonara was bland , and the escargot overcooked. We have dined at many or Mario and Joes restaurants over the years, comparatively this was lacking.
It was perfect.
Vert bad service. Very nose place. The food is not so good for that expensive prize!
my all time favorite restaurant, I will rarely visit New York without coming to Lupa
Wonderful dining experience. Fabulous food and great service
Outstanding from start to finish!
Pastas were incredible. Entrees were not bad but not great. Service was average. Should have been more attentive for a restaurant of this kind. Would return for the pasta.
Lupa never ever disappoints. the Cacio e Pepe is a must have!
They made my friends Birthday dinner VERY special!!
We had an amazing meal, service was exceptional specially that we booked it last minute it was a gem.
Came here with my girlfriend and her parents so I wanted to bring them to a nice meal that was relatively affordable for Italian food in Manhattan. This was well worth it! Very eclectic menu, many dishes with interesting takes on classic dishes. The ambience is awesome and lends itself to anyone who really is a foodie and loves an authentic Italian meal that isn’t boring. Highly recommend!
Very good food and service
Went to dinner last night for my anniversary. We got seated right away which was nice. We sat down at a small table of course but everything seemed really cramped since me and the gentleman behind me had chairs fighting for room. Service was ok, but sort of forced and uptight. Food was ok. Best part was the pasta that was perfectly cooked. We got the dishes that everyone raves about but we didn’t know why they became popular since they seemed average. Nothing mind blowing which was sad for the amount we paid. I guess I would have left with an overall better experience since I made a note under my reservation that it was my anniversary and if during dessert it could come saying happy anniversary on the plate or with a candle but I got none of those things and if you don’t provide that service you can at least let me know you acknowledged it and at least say happy anniversary but instead I got the dessert dropped when my date was in the bathroom and I was by myself. Not sure I would be going back which is a shame because I really looked forward to coming to this place. Don’t be surprised if at the end of all that you get the server coming over with a table side payment and with them standing right there you feel pressured to still give a 20% tip. No thank you.
Legendary experience excellent food highly recommended
Great meal, friendly service
food was fantastic!
Really good Italian food. Would definitely recommend if you are in Soho.
And the fresh tangerine sorbet for dessert.. was fantastic!
Charming and rustic ambience with moderate prices and delicious food. The tripe is savory/ tender perfect for dipping in the toasted bread. The cacio en pepe was exactly right, the amtriciana with pork jowl was savory, the black tagliatelle is well done. The porkchop was tasty but too hard and dry. The skate was excellent and crisply seared.
The food was delicious. We tried the pasta tasting menu and enjoyed everything very much.
Delicious food. Portions just the right size. Service is excellent.
Make sure you're not too pressed for time if you order from each "course"...with that said, it doesn't mean the staff is slow. It means each course is delivered in a timely fashion so you can enjoy it. The back of the menu had a "cheat sheet" to interpret what the very Italian named dishes meant! That was helpful! The waiter was very friendly and personable and honest (ie. "that dish can be shared."). We loved our experience and food was delicious. Highly recommend the dish with the gnocchi and salad with the goat cheese! Yummy.
Always a favorite
