Food awesome, service so so
Longtime favorite of mine in NYC. Consistently awesome after all the years.
The food is exceptional. We have been there several times and are always impressed.
Truly great Italian food. Wonderful wait staff, they recommended a bottle of wine that was perfect.
Loved the food as always. Service friendly and responsive. When asked for back room in advance was not a problem.
Have been Lupa customers for many years and have loved it. Has been our favorite NYC restaurant, but we were disappointed on this visit. Food and service not up to past standards. Fish dish was cold. Domenica offering of my favorite braciola was dry. Now a run of the mill Italian restaurant. Sad.
Bar attendant was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and drinks were superb. Lovely atmosphere and vibe!
We had a wonderful time. Our dinner was delicious. It was a bit noisy but admittedly we were sitting next to a large rowdy table on a Saturday night.we started with the Burrata and the Bagna Calda, they were delicious. My husband had the Carbonara and loved it. I had the Casio e Pepe, yummy. We also had three vegetable sides, very good. TheFocaccia they bring to your table is so good
Love the place. Unfortunately, at peak time place is too crowded. Too many tables for the space. I get it seat more patrons make more profits. At their busy time they want to get you in and out and e at the next customer. Pruning that aside the service was great, food amazing...
Dinner with a longtime friend
Infinitely better in every way shape and form than Carbone!
Always come to Lupa when we visit NYC and it never disappoints!
Pleasantly surprised excellent dinner Very professional
pasta with white truffles.......a dish to die for!
Amazing Italian restaurant closed by the Washington square. The pasta were fantastic and the wine list is a pure dream.
Let me say first I like the food but have had my second issue there with wine and the servers. I went previously and the sommelier came over to make a recommendation. I asked for a bottle around $70 or less to go with our meal. She recommended a $100 bottle. I reiterated $70 or less and she offered a $90 bottle. Finally after I again said $70 or less she offered a bottle in the price range which was fine. Fast forward to my next time there my wife asked the bartender for a glass of wine that would go with the food. He recommended and served it. When the bill came it was $29! Shame on me for not checking but clearly they are instructed to sell as high of a price wine as possible. Food was good but I’ve learned my lesson and will patronize the numerous other Italian restaurants that aren’t out to hit you up for every last nickel.
Very good meat served as ordered and good California white wine.
Service always available.
Minus point is very small seating to each other.
We came here for New Year’s Day lunch. Delightful restaurant serving phenomenal Roman cuisine with outstanding service. I tried the Bucatini All'Amatriciana which was rich and tomatoey, my husband had the Porchetta alla Romana which was amazing, my one son had the Casarecce with Short Rib Ragu which was rich and meaty
and other son had the Casarecce with Oxtail which was savory and sweet and so scrumptious! For desserts we tried the Lupa Tartufo and Ricotta Cheesecake with Spiced Apple Conserva and Pecan Crumble which were both excellent.
A very memorable meal!
New Year’s Eve- we did the pasta tasting; it was delicious!
Awesome all around.
We had the pasta tasting menu and every course was exceptional! The wine list was a perfect companion to the food.
As usual the food was wonderful but the service was off by. A long shot. My guest had a rollator which I had already explained to the hostess but she seemed acutely annoyed when we collapsed it and asked where we could put it out of the way of other guests. Our Server was pleasant initially but then when we ordered second coffees became very annoyed saying it was the end of his shift so he had to redo the bill. He pulled it out of my hand before i had even put in the tip and I said “ wait a second or your tip will be missing” I always tip in cash so the waitperson has it in hand.
Food is too salty. Restaurant too loud. Nothing really sets it apart. Food needs some refinement/work, esp if it has the Bastianich name on it.
My son and I enjoyed our dinner very much. Environment very Cousy and warm welcome. Food so tasty and server John was standing. We going back soon. Great experience!!!
Amazing food! Highly recommend!
Lupa is one of our Italian standbys. For some reason our meal this time was a bit off. The lobster entree is very small for the price, and we would not get it again. The two pasta dishes were good, but not excellent. Service was wonderful. Thank you Caroline.
Always wonderful food. This was our 3rd time going and it was fantastic
We've taken Romans here and they've been impressed by the food quality. Lupa is great for a date, a celebration or any other kind of gathering. Warm and cozy in the winter.
Our special place
I've been going to Lupa for years...literally since the first week it opened...and the past couple of times I gotta say the preparations of some pretty standard Roman pastas has been sub-par. Specifically, this past lunch, my Bucatini all'Amatriciana was so spicy as to be on the edge of inedible and my partners Fettuccine alla Gricia contained far too much black pepper...as in, Cacio e Pepe-levels of black pepper. Now I like spice...my partner does not. And the simple fact is, neither dish showed much of the classic Roman technique I've come to expect from Lupa in the prep of these very simple dishes. Guanciale and Pecorino should be the star of any Gricia, with black pepper lightly framing those ingredients...and while I expect my Amatriciana to be spicy, that spice shouldn't overpower the flavors from the Guanciale and tomatoes. It probably doesn't help that we just ate both of these pastas at Trattoria Da Enzo al 29 in Roma (blatant plug...it's our fave Roman trat) but it does put a point of reference to how things should be done as opposed to how things are going at Lupa these days.....
Great romantic spot in the village. Nice selection of pastas and a pasta tasting menu if you can't decide which one to order!
As usual, excellent on all fronts!
Excellent service and amazing food. However the restaurant was overbooked and our 8:30 reservation was delayed almost 45 minutes!! In addition while waiting for our table, an open flame which was by the server stand singed the fur on my Moncler hooded coat, which the hostess dismissed as only ruining the fake fur on your jacket. The excellent waitress service and the quality of the food were the only saving grace in this otherwise horrible Christmas Eve dinner experience.
Went to Lupa on Christmas Eve dinner so I don't suspect my experience (i.e. table wait time and overall hectic-ness) is a standard. That said, the wait staff regardless of how nuts it was, was fantastic. One thing went wrong during our dinner in which the GM and Sommelier quickly addressed the issue and solved the problem. I really couldn't say better things about the staff. They're all so knowledgeable, friendly and really treat you like you've been coming there for a while, even if it's your first time. The ambiance is sweet and romantic, perfect for a date night or a dinner with close friends. The food is fantastic and they're quite generous on portions. I also recommend always getting the wine pairing or at least asking the staff for suggestions. Will definitely be coming back in the future.
I’ll start by saying the food was outstanding and not ridiculously priced. Wonderful starters, pasta, and lamb along with tasty wine (although this was pricey). The table we had was in a great location, but very cramped. The only other issue was that we had to wait for our reservation for 20 minutes which was not ideal. We would definitely return, though!
Always amazing. Ordered everything. Ate everything. Hurts so good!!!
Our favorite! Consistently the best food, best service, best atmosphere and best value. Long live Lupa!
Service and food were exceptional. Reservations are a must
Was disappointed with the dessert selection . If you are a chocolate lover forget it. The dinner was expected to be good and it was tasty .
