Great dinner - their pasta carbonara is the best in the city!
Vamos a volver, como tantas veces lo hacemos
A lovely restaurant on a side street with a wonderful ambiance. The food is beyond amazing and this will be my go to restaurant when I’m in NY. Ask for Victoria, she’s so helpful with suggestions and adds context and connection to the dining experience. A really wonderful restaurant. Try the Bavette Cacio e Pepe, Casarecce with Short Rib Ragu, the tartufo, the cheesecake and their homemade limoncello. Actually, everything is delicious! Enjoy!
Always amazing food and large menu to choose from. One of my favorite NYC restaurants for many years now.
having been here several times before, arrived on time and was seated in a quickly. Restaurant fully packed and very loud. not for quiet romantic or business conversation and no side by side seating available.
service friendly and reasonably professional. som was familiar with the wines, most of which were quite above what I would expect for this type of informal establishment. first dish was salumi with a side of buratta which was ample and the meats well chosen. burette excellent next for pasta paparadelle with garlic and mushrooms which I will give 4 stars. "main course" was octopus: probably could have done better with the branzino.
while the evening and meal were enjoyable given the price, noise and closeness of the tables, it's ok for
a decent meal but if you want to hear what your significant other is saying better to communicate via cell phone!
The food was, and always is, spectacular. The pan-seared Branzino was buttery, crispy, and plated beautifully. Both specials, pasta with duck ragout and pasta with oxtails were perfect. It was a bit warm in the back room, but the food was worth it. Definitely recommend reservations
Absolutely awesome as usual!
Our favorite restaurant! Never disappointed! Recently dined here for our anniversary and it was the best!
We go there for every occasion whether it’s a special occasion like birthdays and mother day or just celebrating the day with friend.
We love their pasta. We love the wine and desserts.
I am never disappointed and I’ll keep going until another simple and crisp italian restaurant can compete with this excellence.
We went for lunch so neither too crowded nor noisy. Every dish perfect. The buffalo mozzarella with carrots unbelievable.
Pappardelle pasta was too al dente. Not cooked enough. Sauce very rich- loads of butter, which was not mentioned on menu.
Chicken was delicious, though not really “el diablo,” as it wasn’t very spicy hot. Potatoes were divine.
Jambon and salad were good starters.
Amazing experience, they sat us in our favorite corner table. I look forward to going back at again sometime soon.
Really special food. We have high standards for Italian restaurants and they exceeded them.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing! The pasta dishes were absolutely delicious and the ambiance was low lit and beautiful! We will definitely go back!
The food never disappoints and neither does the staff! Always an over all great experience when I come here.
After seeing the glowing reviews given for the restaurant, and my prior experience there, I figured I would give it another chance. It was the worst decision I could’ve made. After taken in a show at the Blue Note, a group of us stopped in with our reservations for some late night dining. Everything went downhill from there. But firstly, when I called the restaurant earlier in the day to confirm, they mistakenly thought my reservations were for 10/6 minutes when I insisted it was for 10/5 that night. I knew this because their restaurant texted a confirmation the night before 10/5. Secondly, our waitress was absolutely terrible. She looked completely disinterested in helping us with the menu since much of it was in Roman Italian, and the glossary on the back of the menu was extremely cumbersome. She also seemed to be in a rush to leave work and spent little to no time explaining any specials or the wines available by the glass. Thirdly, the Saltimbocca dish was a nightmare. The prosciutto was burned, the veal was tough and the vegetable was tasteless. And to top it all off, our server had the audacity to tell us another server was taking her place as she was rushing out of the door and to not worry about our tip as it’ll be shared with the other server. Who does that???? As mentioned before, this was my second time patronizing this place and it was a complete embarrassment for recommending it to our group. All of us left the restaurant ignored, disappointed, and disgusted. We’ll never return.
Always a favorite that never lets me down
Love Lupa. Never disappoints.
Great pasta and service. Reasonable price and fairly prompt with reservation.
Dinner for four with appetizers , main courses and wine was delightful and delicious.
As a West Village picky diner.........? Loved it and will return!!
Extremely packed. Crowded. Might’ve been a particularly busy night
Pasta was outstanding. Everything else mediocre. Noise level made it very hard to hear people just across a tiny, cramped table. It’s a hip spot, very popular still— even after so many years and so much #metoo news. But there’s much better food to be had elsewhere.
Had a really good time food was great it was a little loud but overall a definite place you should try and go again and again and again. If you’re near NYU in Washington Square, Park definite place to stop and eat
The restaurant really tries to cram in as many seats as possible. Its tight quarters there, I wouldn’t go back.
It's very interesting how the little things matter. Our first interaction, like anything, sets the tone of the experience to come. We had a reservation and when we checked in, I asked the hostess if we possible, for us to avoid a table in the middle of the room. She was dismissive... saying that won't be possible. A better answer would have been... "I can't promise but I'll see what I can do" or "I will try, but, it may take a little longer to seat you". Her response set us off on the wrong foot while we waited to be sat. Something totally avoidable.
Funny enough, we were given the perfect table. From there the service was excellent and the food very enjoyable. Overall a great experience.
The only sore spot was the first impression made by someone who just needs a little training in how to manage expectations and make the guests feel a bit more welcome. An easy fix that would be a shame to miss. It's tough enough producing a great product and delivering really well executed service. Why tarnish all that effort with arguably the simplest task in your workflow... setting your first impression.
Pasta was under cooked . Steak was over cooked
Neat place that never disappoints. The pasta is really the thing to have at Lupa.
So good It was my second time dining this week! Wonderful prepared pastas, great wine selections and service.
Wonderful place in the Village!! Great food, ambiance and service! Loved it and would love to return!!
I would recommend Lupa in a beat. It is beautifully set up, in these days of late summer one can still sit outside on the terrace on the quiet Thompson Street. The food is out of this world. I have not had dinner there, only lunch (several times!). So I don't know what the noise level is in the evening. For lunch it is quiet and friendly. I'm sure a dinner experience would be wonderful too.
The food and service was excellent! Thanks for the wonderful meal!
Loved the dishes. Perfectly cooked pasta, delicious meats and mushrooms.
Lupa was recommended to me, as a place for good food. It is, though the braciola I had was better than the orecchiette special my companion ordered. The restaurant was hopping for a Sunday night, even young children were sitting at the bar. The portions are hearty+, so bring an appetite and forswear an antipasto.
Great meal! Noise level high, service very good food was delicious. Would recommend this restaurant for sure !
Reservation at 9:45. Seated at 10:30. No excuse for that
Excellent Bolognese and red snapper.
Pasta was excellent, Sara the manager was fantastic !! Great vibe !!
The vibe of this place is on point. Fits perfectly with the energy of Greenwich Village. We love to sit/eat at the bar in some restaurants, the communal eating experience is just fun. Ben, the bartender was awesome. Cool dude and mixed a great Boulevardier. The food was magnificent and portion was perfect. Not too much.
Great experience and would definitely repeat.
Pasta was great and the burrata was perfect! Decent prices for high quality Italian/that neighborhood. Super crowded and loud.
Most Italian restaurants in NY have a hard time maintaining standards. Lupa instead is still great, no matter the age :)
