Lupa was awesome. The food was terrific, the service was great, the wine selection was huge! Glad I made a reservation because it filled up quick!! I would definitley come back if I go back down to the village.
The food and service were fantastic! A small ambuse Bouche to start. The cacio e Pepe pasta was fantastic. The oxtail ragu was served over a ‘gnocco’ - a delicious polenta cake with shaved celery for freshness- so tasty! Server and wine porter each offered great suggestions. Highly recommend!
Fresh homemade pasta, great atmosphere, and an extensive wine list, I highly recommend making a reservation and dining at Luna. A gem of a restaurant!
Chef James Kelly runs this place better than in it's entire run, the pasta is better than ever!!!
Awesome dinner, pasting tasting menu was a really cool experience and an amazing value
Luca is very cozy and the food is great. Point blank. They cater well to couples and small groups. Convenient to get to. They have an extensive wine list and flexible on modifying ingredients to accommodate diets.
Having been to Lupa at least 20-30 times before, it seemed like an easy choice for a celebratory family dinner.
Alas, how Lupa has changed.
Rubbish service, seated next to a noisy table of 15 men drinking copiously and shouting one would have thought that the staff would be even more attentive and try and make dinner an enjoyable, and if not enjoyable then a tolerable experience. Not so.
Staff didnt come by for ages after we were seated to get our drink order, and then took even longer to take our dinner order.
We asked for accompanying condiments like...salt??? and pepper, and lemons...basic stuff that didnt arrive well after our dishes had gotten cold and i had complained to the manager.
Plates were dirty when put down, food was nowhere near the quality of the past, pasta was not flavored and it felt like there was zero level of care in the cooking and the presentation.
Last but not least, we were seated in the back room (which is a lovely room except for the fact that we were seated at a table next to the employees locker room (freezing air every time they walked in and out of it and bumped into our chair- at least 15 times in the course of our dinner.
The entire experience was dismal, mediocre and disappointing.
Shame on Lupa for not trying to keep it together, or shut down, regroup and then re open.
Service was very spotty. Could not find som, waitress had to be called to give order etc. average to good service gets another star.
Great food but so so so loud
The food was totally different quality. They change chef
Trip to NY with family
We went into this dinner reservation with high expectations and it was better than we expected. Wow. Our waiter David was friendly & warm & knowledgeable with excellent suggestions. His timing was impeccable. The bar staff were accommodating & made us feel like locals for the only 5-10 minutes we waited for our table. The very warm welcomes are not particularly usual in New York so worth noting. The prosciutto aged 2 years and sliced deli style right in the front of the restaurant was sublime (and worth the extra 6 months) with melt in your mouth fresh mozzarella. We split a plate of squash/ricotta stuffed ravioli in a brown butter hazelnut sauce that was SUperb. For entrees we enjoyed the quail special and some kind of seared fish in broth that was transcendent. Don’t hesitate to dine here. We had theater tickets to “Tina” and it was so worth the trek out of tourist hell in midtown by our hotel to come down here before our show. Fantastic dinner!
The food at Lupa is incredible! The ambiance is charming and intimate-- if you don't like being in close quarters, this is not the restaurant for you. The last time we were there it was very busy and our service was quite slow. Even so, I love Lupa and will definitely be back!
My husband and I had our valentine’s dinner at Lupa’s. It was crowed and our seats were close to the door so a bit drafty.
The Pre fix was delicious and gave our a sampling of the food choices. The lobster pasta was al dente and delicious.
The olive oil cake was moist and tasty . I always wanted to try this place since Rachel Ray visited them and raved on their pasta. I will return to try the regular menu.
Overall nice ambiance and good food.
This was a perfect birthday/Valentine's Day dinner. Special menu. Perfect wine pairing. Dessert choices divine. We love sitting in the front room. Waitstaff excellent.
We had a reservation at 4:15 on a Friday. It happened to be Valentine’s Day. Three old friends. The restaurant was wide open and they crammed us into a table by the front door, which was freezing, and tried to force us into a really lame, expensive prix fixe. We left. We would have been in and out by 6:30, having spent the equivalent amount...for what we actually wanted. So lame.
Good service and good food. Too much money for pasta.
The food is amazing. Being Vegetarian I appreciate the many options of not only pasta but also vegetable sides. The Burrata was incredible, little bean paste appetizer amazing, great tomato sauce, pasta cooked perfectly. Desert was a disappointment on this instance, The Budino was way too sweet and had a strange consistency, we hardly touched it, maybe just not our kind of desert. Would have been nice for the waiters to ask how we like the food instead of being offended for saying we didn’t like the desert. Also they make you wait at the entrance if the party is not
Complete, don’t ask to take the coat, just not a super welcoming experience.
Stuck in the back. Was banged into by the wait staff at least 15 times. Service was slow.
Pasta was less than mediocre, branzino overcooked and dry, basil ice cream was good, and waiter good.
Great dinner. Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday. The pasta was delicious.
Celebrated my daughters birthday and we were treated like VIP! Great Hostess and Awesome knowledgeable waitstaff. The Lamb Scottadito was simply Unreal! Great Sommelier and terrific Italian Wine Selection. Can’t wait to come back!!!
Ordered the truffle tasting menu - 10 minutes later I was told there was no filet Minion but they could substitute Flank steak or pork loin (neither are at all similar in taste or value ) but I had to choose one so I went with the flank steak. The Burrata was fine - second course was Fettucine Alla Gricia with Black Truffle and tasted bland and the pasta was half stuck together, very one note but really couldn't eat but a few bites due to the texture and I don't mean it was al dente - this was hard where it was stuck together and had just a few tender spots. Last course was the flank steak - all I can say is it was no substitute for what a filet would have been but it was cooked fine. Dessert was also not very memorable. The service was very good but there was a table close to us that was so extremely loud and drunk and yelling that I was surprised the management didn't talk to them. I do not mind loud restaurants as they happen a lot. This was much more than that including at one point one of the ladies puting her leg up on the table and without noticing that she had toilet paper stuck to her shoe and it was sticking right in the faces of the poor couple next to her. So, yeah, not worth it at all -
Bunch of open tables however we were sat right by the front door.
Probably the best carbonara I’ve ever has anywhere
Excellent food and service. Delicious apps, pasta and main entree. Had the beets, frito misto, and sardines. The sage butter pasta was excellent. lamb was perfectly cooked.
Top it off with fresh coconut gelato and vecchio amaro del capo.
The food was delicious and our server was the best. Had a wonderful evening.
We tried the pasta tasting menu. I thought I was in Italy. I loved first pasta, then when I tasted second one, it was better than the first one, then third one was even better... I highly recommend this place.
It was great!
I went to Lupa for lunch because I remembered their exceptional ricotta gnocchi. I ordered it again. Sorry to say, it was ok, a bit gummy, not the airy light pillows of flavor that just melt in your mouth as I remembered.
Dined at Lupa for lunch during resturant week and must say the menu was amazing, great selection, well cooked and delicious.I would highly recommend this place for lunch/dinner.
Warm atmosphere and the staff was very sweet and attentive. I got the octopus dish which I had been eyeing since I found this restaurant and it was delicious. Tender and finished on the grill to give it a nice char. My boyfriend had the special, squid ink pasta. We finished off the night with the ricotta cheesecake which is perfectly light and the perfect balance of sweet and tart from the drizzle.
Wonderful food, great service, nacin ambience, and great location! Perfect!
They served medium for pork chop! That's totally wrong for food safety!
They won't sit you even if 3/4 of your party is there. We had to wait by the door with a bunch of other people even though there were numerous tables open. They should rethink this policy.
I love Lupa. It was my Birthday and I really loved it. This is a wonderful restaurant! This is my second time and I can’t wait to go back.
Always an unforgettable experience
Had to wait an extra 35 minutes for a table.
The service was just horrible. Our waiter may have been having an off day— but geez, others were there that knew the issues and no one helped. Food was good— not great. The potential however is there... give it a try, I guess.
