We were outside in a private setting that was lovely. The food never disappoints us and we will continue to come to Lupa to celebrate everyday life and special occasions.

it seems to me that the recipes have got unnecessarily complicated, with far too many ingredients, therefore hardly Roman. perhaps I should have ordered one of the more traditional pasta. the noise level seems to be even louder than in years past. servers we're invariably pleasant, polite and energetic, and yet there was a dirty water glass on the table, and no one bothered to take the wine order until reminded. I have eaten many time at Lupa over the past years; it seems to me to be less good than it was (which was VERY good).

Spent almost 3 hours there. Waited for our delicious food much too long without communication from the staff. Had to keep reaching out to ask what was going on. Everyone was nice but they totally forgot about how important it is to keep in touch with the customer if there is going to be a major delay. A restaurant of this stature, however, with the Bastianich name should be ready for a busy day.

It's hard enough to get a table at Lupa without me telling you the food is creative and fresh, the wine is perfectly delicious, and the service is impeccable.

Delicious food and friendly staff. Nice outdoor seating but we ate indoors which was totally fine. I like this restaurant not only because of the food but the location. A nice doable walk from Penn Station along 5th ave. Get my exercise going to Lupa and going back to Penn!

We wanted to order appetizers, then entree. Waiter insisted that kitchen needs to know full order up front. We said we didn't want to be rushed. Waiter said no worries.
So, we did as they asked, and before we were done with appetizers, sure enough they bring out the entrees. Sent them back, and they brought them out later, warmed over.
We really like Lupa and have been here many times before. Service not good this time.

The food is EXCELLENT! However, the wait between appetizer and dinner was over an hour. Staff was friendly and the ambiance was otherwise great! Highly recommend you course your meal out so that you don't sit and wait for an hour.

The waiter was very nice. They accommodated our request for the table we wanted. The appetizers were great, except one. Wine selection not so great. The area around has become a little grungy. But we will go back.

I've gone to Lupa off and on for twenty years or so. Always had a great dinner even if other aspects (tight tables, noise level) were a problem. Having not been there for several years, I've not concluded it is no longer "Lupa". This time the food was a serious disappointment. Whoever the chef is now, he/she is not working in the spirit or practice of Mario Batali or Marc Ladner. The majority of the dishes we had were mediocre and boring and poorly prepared. None of the depth of flavor and complexity that good Roman food offers.

Everything that I had was enjoyable. I was tempted to try many things, but I was with a group of new acquaintances post Champion's League football match, so we did the nibble thing. Wonderful meat and cheese selection.

The service was casual, but I am confident they read the table well. (All sky blue in the group.) It was a really nice treat as we initially struggled to find a place.

We were greeted warmly, and provided us a cozy location to enjoy conversation and nibbles. I appreciated the ambiance and would relish the opportunity to get back and truly dive into the cuisine.

The food and the unique drinks were superb. I did not know lamb chops that rare can be so tender. I had never had a "black manhattan" before and will probably not find another restaurant that makes it.

But I want to single out the server, who was great. She was patient, helpful, accessible, and always pleasant.

I will be returning soon.

Overall the food is not what I expected - especially for the prices. The service was slow, but I suspect that might be due to COVID so it didn’t really bother me. I probably will not return because there many other restaurants with great food at a better value.

Absolutely exquisite! The most tender octopus I’ve ever had. The gnocchi were pillows from heaven and the spaghetti Aglio, olio e pepperoni brought me back to Sicily.

The food was delicious per usual. This is our 4th time there and each time we bring new people who also love the food. Spaghetti Pomodoro w/Chili has just enough spice. The Garganelli Bolognese is super yummy. The wine selection is great with good pairings by our knowledgeable waiter. He was absolutely excellent. Bummer, I don’t remember his name; however, next time we go, I’ll be sure to request him. This is an excellent place to enjoy good food with good friends.

Since Mario departed it’s clear the restaurant is living on its past success. The food is not nearly as good. The same dishes from the past but way different in terms of quality. Also lacking the creativity in its dishes that always surprised you. It’s the end of an era.

Nice restaurant, went there after picking up my daughter from college. Had the short ribs , pasta with clam sauce, diavolo chicken, broccoli rabe and the calamari mista. Everything was tasty , service was good and felt very protected eating indoors with the plexiglass between tables. Would highly recommend and will go back!

I had a beautiful glass of wine and the gnocchi which had amazing flavor, only let down was that it was cold around the edges. The service was also impeccable, just a pity about the cold food. Would be willing to give it another go.
