Friend in town and wanted to take them to our favorite neighborhood spot! Love the service team here. Consistent food.
Strong cocktails, lively atmosphere. Buttermilk deep fried burratta was delicious and the pork chop was moist and flavorful. We were there early on a Sunday and the service was very good, timely and efficient.
A special dinner visit was topped off by good food, warm and well-timed service, and just the right level of lively conversation around us.
Great experience, made better with excellent waitstaff.
I don't remotely get it. The place is loud, the door is open and drafty, welcoming for the clouds of marijuana smoke that waft in from Valencia Street, and the food is absolutely mediocre. The harried service was... tolerable. The hostess was cold, bordering on rude, and lifted not a finger to give us a table away from the door. Our server was, thankfully, better, and worked hard to handle his many tables.
The salads were large and flavorful; the main courses were acceptable -- though mostly uninspired. (The butternut squash risotto was a quite good exception.) The dessert was, in the case of the chocolate opera cake, beyond boring, honestly nearly devoid of taste -- why waste the carb sins on this? -- and in the case of the poached pear cobbler, cloyingly sweet.
I will say the place offers large portions. If only the flavors were better and the ambience was something that allowed you to you relax and enjoy. To be candid, I can't imagine the circumstances that would drag us back.
I loved the restaurant space. We patrons were not seated on top of one another so it felt safe. The best part about the dining experience was our server, Jenna.
Second time at Luna and it’s truly a new fave of mine. Great service and delicious food. And the music is amazing!
Great food, wonderful service
Food was badly over salted: heavy hand in the kitchen. No finesses. Disappointed
Very noisy, desperate need for more servers ( poor servers are way overwhelmed and have no time to answer questions or even get the food right ! ). Had to ask for sugar five times before I got and ordered whafles with no bacon and 45 mins later got it with bacon !!
That’s a really poor table for five- more like a bar for two or three. When you can only fit mains in a single row - with no space for people to face each other- whoever thought they’d maximize revenue at the cost of customers actually enjoying their food was wrong. You just lost five customers.
When I’m not reviewing the food, service or the hard working people behind the scenes, something’s terribly wrong front of house.
Amazing and cute little restaurant that has a great atmosphere. The food and cocktails were all absolutely outstanding and served quickly!
My son’s birthday, it turned out to be a good choice because of the youthful energy about the place. From an aesthetic point of view, lighting could be improved and it needs a facelift/freshening. Food was very good, service was excellent.
The food and the servers are quite good. However, the kitchen is a disaster: we waited 50 minutes for our hamburger order.
Great menu choices and all our selections were delicious. One of the best servers we’ve ever had anywhere— helpful, fun and professional.
A great place to cektbirthdays.
We were seated 25 minutes late at an outdoor table despite booking an indoor table. What’s the point of having a reservation? A little wait is fine, but 25 minutes is not okay. All of the staff were very nice. Food was cooked well but not amazing.
The food was very delicious and lots of healthy items on the menu. Provide indoor and outdoor dining. I do recommend that servers undergo a cultural training to be able to receive all cultural background ethnicity customers with respect and provide the same quality of customer service. This lacked with the server we had. Our evening at Luna was very unpleasant except for the quality of the foold.
Great food and atmosphere. Really happy to have gone to this restaurant for Halloween
Great hostess and servers! Food was excellent
The dining room does not scream fine dining. But the Chef does! Food was creative and perfectly done. American classics. Duck Breast served unsliced was a highlight. New head of the bar was attentive and had both creative cocktails and traditional cocktails under control. Will be back for the food and drinks.
Fun place to eat great food in the heart of the Mission. We sat outside and we had a great time, the service was very good and the food was excellent.
Great vibe and nice space, but the food is the real star. Delicious!
The Duck Breast was our favorite dish that evening!
Delicious food well prepared. Casual atmosphere, enjoyable people watching, great value
Overall experience was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant
Delightful evening - great service, great food, creative drink menu.
Great dinner spot! The menu is small but everything was delicious including the wine selections. Excited to eat here again soon.
Good date spot. Service/ staff was beyond great. Great cocktails too.
Great new restaurant. Waiter was excellent. He was very accommodating and entertaining. Food was delicious and drinks were fun and tasty! Highly recommend.
Went here for restaurant week and was not offered the restaurant week special, had to ask for the menu from the waiter who didn’t stop at our table for almost 10 minutes after we had been seated. Once we were given the menu we were immediately asked if we were going to be doing the restaurant week meal and I reminded them that I had only just gotten the menu and needed a minute to choose. The service was just very rushed, and while no one was at all rude, it did not feel like a special experience. The staff did not seem happy to be there. Everyone was insincere.
The food was very tasty but the salmon was such small portions for the price, so just disappointed in that but the quality of food was great. We typically get 2 drinks each at restaurants but did not want to stay any longer and only got one each.
Been here a few times. Service is tremendous! Food great as always. Great addition to the Mission!!
There were no burguers left and that was the main reason we went there so that was a bummer. Everything else was good and definitely worth to try it.
We very much enjoyed our meal. I would recommend.
Food is good. Service is pathetic. Even when it slowed down, our table was ignored. Things were forgotten (like requests for water), non alcoholic drink took forever to arrive, after meal, had to request a to go box twice & the check twice. It’s pitiful. Very noisy restaurant too. ( we sat inside) Before we ordered, my companion said “the food here is very good but the service is terrible.” He was right.
Great spot, a bit chilly inside with the front window and doors open!
Food was good, cocktails, wine and service were all fantastic. The only issue if you're eating outside and you're sensitive to sounds is that there is literally music coming from every direction. Each neighboring restaurant plays something different and then halfway through our meal the place next door had a live musician approaching tables with his guitar which added even more. A little discombobulating, but we just reveled in the liveliness of being out in the Mission. Had we been in the parklet we might have had a better experience, but even with making our reservation on August 27 for dinner on October 2, we were seated on the sidewalk where passersby are super close. Meanwhile, my friend also showed up with her husband that night with a reservation she made that day for 15 minutes earlier than us, and she was seated in the lovely parklet. Hmmm...
Oysters Hellafeller were unusual and tasty but not spectacular, bone marrow was skimpy (just one, yet 4 large pieces of grilled bread) and the cabbage was too bitter, but the accompanying tater tots (maybe pork belly?) were amazeballs. What you see on the website isn't the same as what is on the menu so it's hard to remember the full descriptions. My main was duck breast with white beans and it was delicious, especially paired with the Land of Saints Pinot Noir and my husband loved his salmon.
Our reservation was at 7:45pm. We didn’t get seated under 8:15pm. We each ordered a starter salad; it took 35 minutes to come — but only two arrived. When I told the waitress I had ordered one too, she looked at me and said “no you didn’t.” I told her I watched her write it down—she looked at her pad of paper and said “oh, sorry…you did. Do you still want it?”
Our entrees took another 20 minutes. It was a two-and-half hour dinner for three people and two courses. Food was great, but my steak frites was cold.
Cute vibe, but they gotta get it together.
The music was way too loud here so not the place to visit if you actually want to talk with your dining companions.
The food was decent but expensive (over $30 for an entree ). I’m glad we tried it but probably won’t go back anytime soon.
Overpriced at best. Food was fine, over salted, service was decent, but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS.
