Try the Caesar salad or the soup of the day as an appetizer before your meal at Luna Rossa. Choose from house specialties like the veal cacciatore or the steak cacciatore which comes with a USDA choice New York strip broiled with red wine, roma tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, artichokes, onions, olives and capers. Top off your experience with a dessert such as the gelato.
Food was excellent, I think we may have had a new waiter but he did a good job. They need a new band. Music was depressing and they played the theme song from "Match Game". We were one of the oldest couples there celebrating our 50th and 52nd birthdays and I am sure none of the younger couples or groups even recognized any songs!
Read other reviews, I was a little skeptical.
Took the cave tour before dinner- was $7 a person, prior to starting tour seemed like nobody knew what was going on. Then guide showed up all was good nice short tour through the caves.
Dinner was nice, there was only 2 of us so we got the best seat in the house. :). Cave view.
Dinner was a nice was served with complimentary bread, food was good quality. Service was a little slow but we where in no rush. Would not recommend if you have to go somewhere this place only takes reservations, and should be the highlight of your night. Other reviews I read complained about slow service with only reservation seating. Guessing they where expecting fast food. Feed me now I'm Hungary and I didn't plan ahead......
Good Romantic spot to take your sweetie.. Not for everyone, but really is anyplace?
The ambiance is always nice at this restaurant either day or night. However, adding an entry door via the restaurant to the liquor store took a little bit away from it as that was a great wall to sit next to looking out and people watching while you ate. The Calamari I would highly recommend. Texture and taste are perfect. I had the pizza and Mussels as well. The sauce on the mussels was just average and the pizza crust was actually a bit too soft. I'm still rating the food good as the Calamari really is a must. The Server Sarah was very nice and attentive.
We were so pleased with the whole experience. We had the chicken parmagiana and a salmon special which were both very good, the sauce on the salmon was especially flavorful. During the meal, a trio started playing oldies and we enjoyed it so much we went to the bar and sat for an additional drink just to listen to the band. The band was called "The Mockingbirds".. Drinks at the bar were excellent as well - I recommend the hand made margaritas - no mixes used here.
Being in a cave, Luna Rossa is a very unique and charming restaurant with Italian charm. Food was delicious, great service, we will definitely be returning!
I ordered my pasta with chicken and when I got it there was no chicken. I told the waitress to remove from the bill and not to send the chicken. She still brought the chicken and not sure if she charged me as I wasn't sure how much it was with or without it. Also the pasta was cold within a minute of arriving at the table. The wine tour was at 7 but didn't even start until 7:15. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and hoping it was a night to remember but it won't be. I would give it a second try but not for a long time.
My husband and I visited this restaurant on the 4th of July before fireworks by the river. We were seated outside on the patio which was great people watching, and quiet enough to talk. The inside is very romantic with low lighting. Decent wine list, although our first choice white wasn't chilled so we had to order a different bottle. The caprese was awesome. The balsamic glaze was a little sweet, which we enjoyed. I felt my husband's lasagna was just average. My shrimp pasta dish was excellent though. The shrimp were perfectly cooked.
We had reservations. When we arrived we were offered a table in the bar or one by the kitchen. We chose the bar. Noisy!!! Mentioned to hostess we would like quieter table and offeredby kitchen. She said people were waiting for cave tour and would be gone soon. Asked if we could be seated in different room where a group was seated. Hadto ask manager. Finally moved us. Ordered bottle of wine. Servrer said they didn't have any chillers because they were all in they caves for the tours and wine tasting . Just shrugged his shoulders as heostruggkef to open bottle. Left table with wine. New server returned and apologized for lack of chiller. Her service was excellent. Good was good. Wine tour psasses through room we were in, so at times at bit noisy. Turned off by initial interaction with hostess and first waiter.
Loved everything... even tho we were seated next to the bar. Everything was still amazing. It's a little expensive. I would still recommend it for big groups and special occasions.
Not authentic Italian. The lasagna was swimming in sauce. The gelato was ice cream.
