Luna Rossa, located in Stillwater, Minnesota, serves a menu full of authentic Italian cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Each meal is prepared with fresh ingredients and bold flavors including pure olive oil and imported Italian spices and seasonings. Luna Rossa has a full bar which features an extensive wine selection. including both domestic and imported wine by the glass and bottle.
Try the Caesar salad or the soup of the day as an appetizer before your meal at Luna Rossa. Choose from house specialties like the veal cacciatore or the steak cacciatore which comes with a USDA choice New York strip broiled with red wine, roma tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, artichokes, onions, olives and capers. Top off your experience with a dessert such as the gelato.
Luna Rossa is definitely among the top of our 'favorites' list!!
I was very unhappy with the food. It was very bland and thr sangria was very watered down. I would never tell anyone to go there.
Food was bad to fair. Service was poor, waited about 15 minutes after our reservation to be seated and then waited 5-10 minutes for waitress to come over and take drink order. It was a busy Sat. night, but... My food was fairly good (pizza) but my husband's veal was not good and very uncharacteristically prepared - waitress should've explained this preparation when he ordered it. Not offered dessert or coffee. Had a nice table back by the caves - so ambiance was good. Even so, probably won't be back.
At first we were not happy with the seating near the front door and the hostess didn't offer any alternatives. However, when I spoke with our waitress, she was very gracious and moved us to the back dining area...much quieter and less busy. The experience was very nice, service and food was excellent, especially the grilled salmon. We will definitely return.
The food was really good and the service excellent. However, the acoustics made it very noisy until a nearby table of women left. Decor could use sprucing up.
I have been to Luna Rossa several times. I'm never disappointed. Great food, great service, knowledgable staff. It's a little spendy, yes, but it's worth it. It can be a bit noisy, so don't expect a quiet dinner, but the noise has never been a real issue.
The room we sat in was VERY COLD! But our experience despite this was good.
Relaxing, romantic atmosphere. Luna Rossa has a musician playing and singing (check hours on their website), which adds to the romantic feel. Food was delicious. Portions were about right. Quality in everything they do.
This was our third vist to Luna Rossa, but the first time for a romantic meal. We were so very delighted with the ambiance and the service. The food was delicious. The flavors are very rich and a pleasure to taste. The setting is beautiful and charming. I always look forward to an opportunity to eat at Luna Rossa! Thank you for helping make this Valentine's Day so special and romantic.
This was a very good experience. The atmosphere was very romantic and intimate, and the service was mostly very good. Our waitress disappeared towards the end of our meal and it was difficult to order our dessert and get our bill, but otherwise the service was outstanding. We were made to feel like we were the only guests at the restaurant and the entire staff was very friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for anybody looking for a great experience.
I go to this resturaunt every valentines weekend and i have never been so pleased with every aspect of the place. the service is absalutly outstanding. the food is to die for. the place is perfect!
We only frequent Luna Rosa on special occasions and therefore forget how cold the dinning room is...esp. when the back (cave), door is left ajar.
Our server didn't notice that we left our second forks on our salad plate, so s/he took them with the plates (first forks were used with appetizer). When s/he brought our entrees, none of us three noticed that we were without forks. By the time I caught a water person (to request forks), our food had cooled. It was a bit disappointing.
When patrons order an apetizer, waiter/wattress should make a mental note that there is the potential for guests being served the entrees but not being able to begin eating it because they lost both forks on the appetizer, and then the salad.
Service was outstanding! Food was superb as always!
Not the "special night out" restaurant we were hoping for. Food was mediocre and over priced.
A little disappointed to not be back in the main "cave" area, kind-of got pushed up front.
This was a great find. I was there with a group of six and everything was perfect. The server was great. The food was perfect and everyone loved their meal, and the creme brulee we shared later.
Unfortunately, the experience was not what I had hoped for! The bread brought to our table had to be "day old" at best. Asked for butter, it was brought to us at the end of the meal! Waiter did not have a good knowledge of the wine selections, For an Italian restaurant, the best thing was the one the "non-pasta" person ordered, the steak.
Great service, great wine (we loved tasting a couple to find a bottle we wanted to enjoy), the staff was more than willing to do a mini tasting, and very knowledgeable. My dish was a jumbo shrimp spaghetti pasta with olives, capers, artichoke and sun dried tomatoes. I was a little disappointed expecting a better bigger flavor. It was ok--something I could have made at home which is fine. My husband had one of the specials: Gorgonzola stuffed pork-chop with a garlic Gorgonzola sauce on top--AWESOME. That was worth every penny! Good thing he shared a bite or two... We are definitely going to return for other tasty dinners and recommended it to our friends!
Very nice experience on New Years Eve. They were a bit slow getting food out but it was understandable with the full house on the holiday. The live music and guys doing mgic table side was a nice touch. I will be back to dine. There soon.
Pretty bland tomato sauce for an Italian restaurant.
Four of us went to Luna Rosa on New Years Eve with a 5:30 p.m. reservation. We were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance, and service. I knew things were going to be okay because when the waiter brought the very dry martini for my wife, he saw that the bartender had put in a lot of dry vermouth, and he knew that this was totally wrong. He had her taste it while he waited. When she confirmed that it was indeed wrong, he immediately went back and had it remade correctly.
Food was great - Entrees selected; Chicken Saltimbocca, Salmon, Veal Marsala, Scampi alla Cabrese. All were very good, with generous portions, nice presentation, and hot.
Desserts were also great - Canoli and Tiramisu
We will definitely return again.
Food was very good; the view was even better. We had a table looking in a cave--not a view that many restaurants can boost! Excellent service and ambiance make it perfect place for a special occasion/romantic dinner.
Everyone in our party of five enjoyed their meal and appetizers. Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine list and helped in the selection. She was on top of her game the entire evening, and since half of our party are restaurant people that is a strong compliment! Great service along with very good food made the night!
Made our anniversary celebration very enjoyable. Thank you!!
Pleasant all around. My only comment would be portions are overly large and demand takeaway.
Only problem was that the music was a little loud at some points during our dinner and we couldn't hear each other talking across the table.
Luna Rossa was a great place to spend our 5 year wedding anniversary at, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
loved your spumoni and gelato!!!! yum!
Really bland for Italian food especially since the chef is Italian. My wife's fettucini was not done. The tab was over $100 for two and for this price the quality was not there. I regret dining there and I won't be going back.
The food was excellent! The service was great as well. We were seated next to a very large group who was rather loud, but once they left, it was nice and romantic. We will definitely go again.
The food was excellent and the service was exceptional. Great for a date night out - or even for a larger party. We'll be going back.
Very disappointing. I had high hopes for this place. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi, $21.50. Six medium-sized pale shrimp swimming in a little broth with two or three slices of garlic, my salad consisted of quickly wilting lettuce with one or two really bad, slimy black pieces. My husband remarked that it looked that our waitress was having the worst day of her life. I won't go back again.
Great restaurant. Food was good, nice wine list and great service.
The dining experience was wonderful! The food was great, the wine was perfect with our meal, and it was the perfect way to celebrate our special occassion! Luna Rossa has become one of our favorite places to eat and it's even better if we are seated in the "cave room." This room has such a great atmosphere and is exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a resturaunt that night! Thanks for a wonderful evening Luna Rossa!
Great experience! Such a good location for a group get-together! I would definitely go there again.
This was our fifth trip to Luna Rossa and it was as excellent as we have had in the past. The veal marsala is wonderful. The "small" antipasto serves two people well. Monday is 1/2 price wine night and it was a great selection. We will go back for another special occasion.
What a terrific place...food and service were excellent..
Very beautiful restaurant. Service was professional and caring. I am a prior waitress and pay special attention to waitstaff. Food was amazing, martini was excellent! The music was a very nice touch! Thanks for making our 10th anniversary so specail!
Great but spagetti was very bland. All other courses were terrific!
Amazing food and the ambiance was wonderful!!
