I got married at Luminarias, and it was a wonderful experience, and we were treated, and catered to like kings, and queens. I was so impressed that I decided to take my wife back there to revisit the location where we had such a fantastic wedding experience, for Valentines dinner. Everything was fine, we were seated at our table around 09:00 PM like we had scheduled. We had finished our first 2 courses of the featured 4 course meal, and was awaiting our main course, and things suddenly turned very troubling. After waiting at least 30 minutes or more, a waiter told us our food would be served shortly. Needless to say another 20 minutes passes by, and again we were told our food should be out shortly. Now it is approaching almost 10:00 PM. I noticed that several guest who had been seated after us were enjoying their main course, and I stopped the waiter, and let him know that we were seeing guest eating that had been seated after us. I was then told that there was an accident with our food, it had been dropped, and would have to be prepared again, and it would certainly be out soon. I then told the waiter we would not wait any longer, and to bring the check. A floor manager then approached us apologizing, and offered us a free glass of champagne, and his apologies for the delay. I drank the free champagne, and then told him to box our food to go, but we would not be waiting any longer. They brought us the food boxed, and gave my wife 6 beautiful long stem roses, and also deducted the price of one of the meals. Needless to say our Valentines date was ruined at this time, and even if they had given us both meals for free nothing could reverse the disappointment we were feeling. The whole experience left me wondering if it was the fact that Luminarias is a place themed to Hispanic, and Mexican fare, and we are BLACK, and from what I could tell, the only people of BLACK heritage in the place. We were ignored, and not treated as equals. Never again will I set foot there.

Great place for couples, families, and groups. Mine and my husband's favorite place to dine when we want to dine just the two of us. Food is great, atmosphere is calm Monday thru Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays there's a dj. The reason we keep coming back is because of the fried ice cream. It's got to be our fave!

I have no idea how the food was. We stood at the entrance for 5 minutes and were ignored. After that we walked out. Won’t be back.

I used to LOVE Luminarias and had made it a birthday destination for MANY years; however the Mariachi is no longer part of the brunch experience and the price of brunch increased a lot! So they cheat you out of live music and increase the price, that’s not very savvy! There was also no music playing in the dinning rooms, only where the food was sitting. The food and service was exceptional! I would gladly pay the huge price hike, if the mariachi was still available. I highly doubt we’ll return.

Had a large party. The restaurant was able to quickly adjust. We were seated right away. Constant flow of food and drinks. The server Jose was great and the manager Ignacio was amazing. Huge variety of food for brunch. Love their hand-made tortillas and fresh grilled fajitas.

Complimentary chips and salsa were awesome. Friendly service. We had the lunch combo 1 & 2, which were pretty good (I personally liked the carne asada tacos and chile rellano. Beautiful restaurant inside and out. You can see CSULA from the restaurant.

We saw online you had the 3 course meal for $27.95 from 4-5:30pm. Neither the host nor waiter Knew about it. We made reservation online. When we walked in, the host just asked "2 people?" Then took us to the booth. I said we had. Reservation but he didn't care. When we got home, I received email asking why we didn't show up.
Food portion was small, quality substandard. Definitely not worth the money. We expected much more since this fancy restaurant is up on the hill. Everyday hundreds of thousands motorists can see the sign. What a shame. No wonder only 3 table were occupied including ours while we ate there. Improve, or you won't last very long.

The food was not what I expected. The tortilla soup tasted like it came from a can. The nachos were poorly presented and the guacamole had a bit of brown on them. The cheese wasn't completely melted.

We were seated in one of the booths right on the walkway. There must have been at least 100 people that walked by as we were eating. I could have handled that but then they took a giant overflowing trash can on a cart past us on the way to the exit. For the price you are paying the ambiance was a huge disappointment.

Service and entertainment great. Food was horrible and cold. We went to Luminarias for Thanksgiving brunch. No regular mashed potatoes, only garlic. Stuffing was dry and super salty. No sweet potatoes. Only one pumpkin pie to feed about 100. Pumpkin pie was horrible. Cheap champagne in mimosas. Seems like management just bought a bunch of random crap at Smart and Final and put it out for consumption. For $50 per person I would expect a little better. ADA compliant but not elderly friendly as there is only one ramp inside restaurant and many stairs. Deeply saddened that the only "nice place" that is East LA adjacent is such a disappointment. Next year we shall drive a little further and spend a little bit more at the Dal Rae. Bye Luminarias!

Chicken fajitas were great! Tasty and tender! I don't like tomatoes, so the green and red peppers, onions and chicken mixed in well. I also don't eat Spanish rice, so I had double refried beans, delicious! My partner had the carnitas, they were tasty and tender too! We also had the fried ice cream, it is a must!
