Lumiere Ratings and Reviews
In a word -- Fantastic! We did the chef's tasting and everything was phenomenal (well, until the dessert - will get to that later. Staff was exceptional as well!
We had pumpkin soup, scallops, white fish, duck -- all absolutely delicious through & through. Re: dessert, we were told it was the chocolate mousse but ended up being served the prosecco sorbet. Not that it wasn't very tasty -- but it's not what I expected and not what I would have ordered. It put a little damper on the meal, but I tried to remember all the *absolutely delicious* items we'd had earlier in the evening. We would absolutely return!
We had a very good experience. Our server was terrific and the food was excellent. Reservations were easy to make and we were promptly seated at the appointed time.
Only two issues:
1) The bar was backed up for no apparent reason and we had to wait too long for opening drinks and wines by the glass with our entree.
2) While the food we had was excellent, we suggest you have more items on the menu from which to choose .
Took my husband for his Bday. We did the Chef’s whim tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was spectacular! We shared our preferences up front and they accommodated my aversion to goat cheese and my husband’s fear of steak tartare.
Chef received an à la minute delivery of sea bass and one of our courses wasn’t even on the menu! I particularly appreciate the lack of attitude and preciousness when our server described each plate and wine. We had soup, scallops, sea bass, duck and a chocolate dessert. Portions are generous. Very interesting and unique wines. We won’t be waiting for another special occasion to return! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I have been here many times before, but for some reason it may be slipping a bit or perhaps just an off night. Service was truly slow. Waited about 15 minutes or more for drinks. Even the bread didn't arrive to the table in a timely fashion. This is particularly annoying when you go with an out of town guest and your've given them a good review in anticipation of going. Plus the fish did not seem as deliciously fresh as I've had it there in the past. Menu also seemed a bit heavy on cauliflower. I will give it another try though since it was one of my go-to French restaurants.
Our table for 4 chose the chef's menu with wine parings and found each course and each wine was superb. Our waiter explained the courses and accompanying wines with competence. The dinner was well paced. The staff was very accommodating with a substitution due to allergies of one of our party.
As usual, the food was fantastic and the waiter helpful and attentive. However, due to a problem with the restaurant computer that communicated with the kitchen, the main meal took over an hour to be delivered to our table. Although near the end of this wait we were brought complimentary drinks, we were very hungry and would have preferred food. I was not happy that I had to disappoint my out-of-town guests with such a long wait.
This was our first time to Lumiere and we all loved it. The entire experience was very positive - great service (our server was friendly and knowledgable) and the food was excellent. Throughout the evening, our server surprised us with unexpected treats - watermelon with tapenade and warm chocolate chip cookies.......
We all agreed (4 fairly picky foodies) that we loved Lumiere and will definitely return soon.
Per my review of specifics, the ambiance was lovely and the service was excellent. Our food was generally good (all 3 of us had the scallops upgraded to entree sized portion of 4 instead of appetizer sizeof 2) which were delicious. The watermelon salad was tasty, but the shrimp in the appetizer were small, dry and rather tasteless and so I would not order that again. My cocktail was a good choice, but served in a glass with too much ice to create the illusion of a larger drink. Even though we enjoyed it, we all felt the meal was somewhat overpriced for what we ordered.
We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing, and each course was excellent. We especially liked the fact that vegetables were integrated into each of the courses, the flavors were delicious, and the portions were a perfect size, neither too large nor too small. The server was friendly and informative, and the wine selections were just right.
We ordered the tasting menu and no one asked for preferences or allergies. It turns out that all dishes had corn, which I really don't like.
Food was good, but not to justify $70 per person.
Services was kind, but waiter would "pop up" from behind the booth, like a jack-in-the-box, every course to ask how it was - kind of annoying.
