Food was excellent and so was service. Prices were a little high...as compared to nearby places. Will return.
Our reservations were for 7:00. We were told that we had a maximum of two hours at the table. Not a problem for us. But that policy must only be in effect for dinner reservations because upon arrival, we stood outside for half an hour because the restaurant was over crowded... So we stood outside - in Saturday’s downpour with its accompanying high winds - drenched at dinner. I would not recommend the mussels. They were tough and gritty. Several were not even open, a sure sign not to serve them. The pretzel appetizer was outstanding. But everything else, chicken Milanese and the tuna appetizer was just ok. The tuna was DULL, how do you do that with Ahi tuna. Overall, a non-great dining experience. I did like the server, she did a good job.
Booked for a party of 10- everyone said the place was GREAT!!!!! Excellent service - we will be back
A limited menu, but great options! The restaurant had a trendy outdoor seating area and was next to a park playing jazz that evening. Very nice atmosphere!
We got there Sunday evening at 7:30. Wish they would have told us the kitchen closes at 9pm. The restaurant was pretty full still. I wish they would accommodate us at that point as we would have wished to stay longer but instead we were rushed out. However great restaurant. Perfect location and great for parents that want some good food while the kids can play at Beacon Park!
Great food and I love the location I will be back I want to try the whole menu
Had the mussels, calamari, Mac n cheese and tortilla soup
Not all by my self
It was all great
I have been there before and had good food. This visit our food was mediocre at best. Service was so so.
The ambiance, inside and out, is great! The amazing energy and eclectic mix of guests makes for a fun experience. Our server was fun and knowledgeable, and made some good recommendations. Hanging out in the park outside after dinner added to the experience.
Excellent service, mediocre main courses. Very cool ambiance and setting in Detroit’s Beacon Park.
Not really what I expected. The dinner menu doesn’t have enough options. Requested to sit inside in a booth and was sat at a bar high top table with a dress on.. super disappointed. Especially since people were crowding around the bar and there were no available seats. Definitely not a place for a intimate date.
The calamari was ok, somewhat tasteless, fried, with some hot banana pepper rings. The Caesar with chicken had 2 large chicken pieces with the salad. The pasta was decent, with a large piece of chicken that was very barbecue y.. Overall it was good. Our server was friendly and helpful.
Great summer spot. Beacon park provided a lot of ambiance. Good drink selection. It was really busy but we had reservations and they were really good about our request of sitting outside. Apps were decent. Everything chicken wings were excellent. Scallops special was great. Server was great with our party of 8. Would recommend.
Well, maybe this is my fault because I had high expectations, but I was disappointed. The Lumen burger is very good, but my husband got the scallops. They were on special and were cold. We made a request on our reservation that it was a date night and we would prefer patio seating. We were sat at a tall 2 top in the noisy crowded bar next to an employee only door that opened non stop. It was a strange experience.
Even with reservations we were seated on high tops by the bar where there was high traffic. The atmosphere was still pretty cool, partly outdoor trendy LA vibe. I loved the open air but with it came a lot of flies and mosquitos. Our server was great, never had to flag him down and also wasn’t over-bearing. He was pleasant and quick.
We ordered the appetizer with the hummus and tabbouli, I’m Jordanian so I’m a little biased but it was WAY too salty even for mainstream. I also ordered the power salad... it mentioned “grains”.... there maybe have been 1/8 tsp grains in it, the spring mix was wilted and the asparagus was chewy and over cooked.
My pan seared Salmon with cous cous & my boyfriends rainbow trout however were delicious!
Overall 4 stars for 1/2 the meal being done right, the service and atmosphere. Lost a star for the first half of our meal, bar seating instead of dining area, and the bugs which they can’t really control but still annoying.
Very good food, friendly atmosphere, lots of character.
Beautiful setting, food was tasty, but service was some of the worst I've ever encountered. He was inattentive, apathetic, and inefficient. Never ran food, had to be flagged down to order another glass of wine, which he then forgot because he was too busy watching volleyball and chatting with coworkers. Then had to be flagged again to ask if he would skip the wine we ordered 15 minutes prior and just bring check. He was unapologetic and, to put it lightly, a dud.
Love the free standing birthday candle!
We love Lumen. The venue is so beautiful... the food is great.... the service is friendly. All good! :)
Our server was amazing. Also, the food was incredible. 2 thumbs up for the salmon and craft beer on tap!
Great spot for upscale bar food and amazing drinks! Loved it! Can’t wait to try the igloos next winter!
Excellent food. I had the ahi tuna starter as my meal and I wanted to go back and get it again the next day!! The service was excellent!! Unfortunately, it was raining so we could not enjoy the outdoor seating but I appreciate the option. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Great service.. but they ignored our explicit seating request online not to be right beside a busy door and they put us right beside entrance and service door with constant staff passing by.
First time. Really like the menu, the ambience and service. Will definitely be back. The salmon dish is superb.
Dinner with my sisters while visiting Detroit for a wedding.
Good food, highly diverse clientele, great service and the open location right by Detroit open air night club is adding an incredible vibe.
Great date destination, for those who don’t crave for cozy quiet environment
Our server, Brittany, was outstanding. The cocktails were well poured and the casual ambiance was just perfect for a summer evening in the D.
What happen to the Jasmine rice?
Better Deserts are needed. Digging cheesecake out of a jar is not fun
I was in on Saturday afternoon. It was about 90 degrees and sunny, so we opted to dine in.
This was my second time dining at Lumen. I absolutely love this place. Both times I had the Charcuterie,
it was awesome. I also had the berry spinach salad, which was also, very good and refreshing.
I can't wait to come back in the wintertime and dine in an igloo!
Food was excellent. Priced reasonable love the atmosphere. Would definitely go back again👍🏻
Great location, reasonable prices, and nice menu selection. Nice open airy feel as well
Everything thing was great except for the drinks.
Our waiter Alex was great! Great atmosphere and the staff was friendly. We will definitely be back!
Great atmosphere with open air dining. Excellent spot for a date or meeting up with large group of friends. Cocktails were great, especially whiskey sour.
Came back a 2nd time after a great time in the igloo in the winter. As remembered, drinks were great; however, not much has changed since 6 months ago. Food was mediocre. My power salad was drenched in dressing and lacked balanced flavors and my husband had a decent salmon but the side dish with it was very bland. Service was unintrusive, which was nice. Ambiance was good. Just don't think I'll go back. Chef cooking didn't seem experienced. It was late into the night so perhaps the underlings were left to their own.
First time at Lumen. Loved the whole setting. Out server was outstanding. Attentive, personable, and fun! Really enjoyed the roof top for drinks and watching the beautiful sunset. We’ll definitely be back!
Very hot with all the windows drawn up. Need to keep some 100% ac area
love your white peach sangria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I dug it. We sat in the indoor/outdoor area. Food was very good, service was nice. The volleyball courts look fun and add a chill vibe. Reminded us of some restaurants we used to eat at when we lived in Austin, TX.
Love the ambiance and quality of food at Lumen! Has been one of my favorite spots since it opened.
Great time but waiter was snobby. Service was Ok. Everything else was great!!
