Luma on Park Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary. Our meals were delicious. The wine selection is extensive. We even found one of our hard to find favorites — Failla. We enjoyed desert and champagne on the house for our celebration. We highly recommend and will be back when we are in town.
It was very loud - to the point of not being able to hold a conversation. We had very slow service even though they were not full (long waits between courses). Literally - the couple next to us (different server) arrived, ate and left before we got our main course. My wife's scallops were perfect but my steak was undercooked and tough - but after a 2 hour wait I wasn't going to send it back. They ran out of the only dessert my wife wanted (maybe if service had been faster we would have gotten it). And they failed to even acknowledge my wife's birthday. We dine at many high-end restaurants in Central Florida, so it won't be difficult for us to pass Luma by in the future.
Exceptional dining experience for wife and me; from the unique cocktails, to the wine pairing and all of the courses. Service was phenomenal and we just had a great time people watching too. As foodies we could not have been more impressed with the fresh, unique and creative dishes- we will be back!
De Gustibum non disputandum...but; even among demanding gastronomes, Luma on Park is and should be highly rated among the 10 best Places for fine dining in Greater Orlando
Because it has:
Great setting and Deco
Bravo Luma !
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, sorry. It was extremely loud. Couldn’t really talk to my date. Sever seemed angry or depressed.
We ordered fish and a chicken dinner. Had ABSOLUTELY no flavor. Probably the blandest meal we’ve ever had. This was the third time eating there, and won’t be back for dinner. Maybe drinks, but DEFINATELY NOT the food.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our ninth anniversary dinner at Luma on Park. We felt like royalty from the moment we walked in until the time we left. Our service was exceptional and was not trumped by the exquisite food. The chefs, servers and hosts are the pinnacle of what a restaurant Should strive to achieve. Thank you for a memorable evening and we will be back very soon.
Extremely DARK... no lighting for dinning! Can’t see menu or food. Server actually said trying to recreate the atmosphere of a NYC restaurant. I am born in NYC and travel there frequently and have several relatives currently living there and this is NOT how the restaurants are in NYC. We are frequent fine dining people and this is NOT a good atmosphere. We actually had to ask for extra candles on our table. In addition, our son had on a baseball hat and was asked to remove it or could not sit at the table. However, the entire kitchen/dining staff in the open kitchen area seen by all dining guests all had baseball hats on. Even some of them wearing them backwards. The food was good BUT would not go back or recommend to others. It is very unfortunate because there are so many other find quality restaurant on Park Avenue. This restaurant was recommended by a friend. Wish we picked another restaurant to enjoy our family weekend at Rollins College .
The service was the best! We had 8 different employees stop by to assist with our meal or ask if everything was good, if we needed anything etc.
We ordered a specialty drink & the bar manager came by to ask our opinion & make sure it was perfect.
The restaurant manager stopped by to make sure everything was perfect.
Our water glasses never made it below half & they were being refilled.
We made another reservation before we left.
Luma offers a ceative menu with a good selection of wines and a generally fine dining experience.
Last Saturday the team struggled in the kitchen .
We assume they had to be short on chefs because the food came out quite slowly and the flank steak was a completely botched plate, twice it came out wrong.
While this visit was disappointing, we'll be back for another try.
Took my wife here for her birthday - couldn't have been more pleased. Our server was terrific, offering options that were spot on, and was attentive and pleasant. The ambiance was also great - very muted in terms of colors very modern without being sterile. Of course, none of this matters if the food is no good, and in this respect the restaurant hits it our of the park. My wife was convinced to try the flank steak, which I knew was a risk because she usually likes her beef med. well! She took our server's advice and had it medium and after having the first couple bites where she was disappointed, she ate the rest of it in total satisfaction! I had the scallops, which were awesome. We started with a vegetable tempura dish, which again, was just terrific. Cocktails we had were fabulous and we had a dessert (pecan tart) that was amazing. This was a great meal and actually one of the best meals we have had, and we have eaten at some very highly rated places! We learned that the owner also has another spot in this area of Winter Park, which we also think is a gem. He is really doing it right.
My group and I went in and had an amazing time. Robert, our server, was very knowledgeable and excited about giving us a memorable experience. He was awesome!! He guided us through each course and answered all of our questions.... he made the dining that much more incredible. The cocktails were all so different and delicious. Then the food started to flow out from the kitchen and each dish times perfectly. Everything was just delectable. Thank you Robert and Luma for making our evening spectacular!!!
Overall Luma is wonderful restaurant. Service is top notch, our server was delightful. The food is creative and normally well executed. We had a few hiccups on this visit. I have to say, this will not deter me from returning, nor should it stop you. One of the starters, a tagliatelle with sweetbreads and bacon cream, was woefully under seasoned. We had two separate orders and both were the same. Secondly, the plate up was very disorganized. Our entrees came out in three separate deliveries (table of 5), almost 10 minutes apart. My entree, the first to be delivered, was cold by the time everyone else was served. The cold plate did not help the cause. Desserts were excellent.
We went for magical dining. My onion tart was ok. My butternut ravioli was good, Dessert was so so. My friend had the soup, chicken and sorbet. Hers was great. My other friend had tart, salmon ( undercooked) and same Dessert as me. She didn’t like her meal. I love luma because the food is good and I love the ambiance. This was not one of our better visits but we will be back!
Our service was outstanding. I wish I had remembered our server's name, because I cannot compliment her enough. I was also very pleased that we were able to procure a table by the window as per my reservation request. The food was very good. Butternut squash ravioli provided the perfect accompaniment to a fabulous tequila-habanero-vanilla aperitif. My only qualm was that the root vegetables with my flank steak did not seem differentiated enough in flavor, resulting in a dish that started strong but soon became one-note. My wife's scallops were cooked perfectly, but she too experienced a certain level of muddling in flavor balance due to the accompanying risotto being slightly under-seasoned. Desert, however, was superb. The brown sugar tart with roasted pears was flawless and highly recommended. I did not order wine, but would recommend Luma to anyone looking for an impressive list.
Another very good experience at Luma's. Meeting some friends we had not seen in a long time. Excellent service from Angie. Our food was exceptional. I had the Octopus and Pork Belly and it was not only a really good combination but a very healthy portion (well maybe not healthy, but large). I then had the snapper which was also delicious. The food just seems to be getting better every time.
Excellent atmosphere, ambiance, food, and service. We had the scallops and the duck. Both were amazing-well prepared and delicious. Wines were served in a timely manner and reasonably priced. The server was one of the best of the many restaurants we have dined in the past year. In fact, the entire staff was friendly and professional.
What can I say about Luma that has not already been said? Exceptional seasonal menu with meticulous attention to detail from the thoughtful pairings to the friendly extremely knowledgable wait staff. Ask them anything about the food, how it is sourced, production methods, or preparation and they can wax on at length with useful information. What a refreshing alternative to, "i'm not sure or let me check on that" Then there is the food .. I have been here at least a dozen times before and it is always exceptional. During this visit we arrived about 9pm on a busy Saturday night with the intention of ordering from the 3 course Magical dining menu since it is Magical dining month here in Orlando. So I was a bit confused because we were not given this menu when we were sat and we had to ask our server for it. We were so delighted with our appys. I had the full of flavor cauliflower soup and my date had the pate terrine that was divine. We both ordered the Salmon as our entrees which was served poached. Don't get the wrong idea or mushy visual in your mind. The presentation was beautiful and after the first bite I was in heaven with the subtle fennel and herb flavors. We paired with a Pinot Noir from Oregon. Luma is smart with their wine menu - it is eclectic but very reasonable with lots of interesting choices all offered by the full or half glass or bottle grouped by price. Then there was the dessert - chocolate panne cotta - can I just say it was over the top delicious, beautiful texture almost like ice cream in its sublime creaminess with wonderful depth of flavor. Needless to say we were more than satisfied with our meal at Luma across the board from service to chefs attention to detail and of course exceptional flavor. Luma delivers on all accounts end of story! My only comment would be to update the dining room decor to become a bit more lively and bright as to keep pace with the contemporary and spirited vibe of the food. kudos Luma!
Whether you are looking to impress a date, a colleague or a client, Luma will not disappoint! From the décor to its ambience, Luma is definitely one of the top restaurants in central Florida. Their menu offers a very creative selection of succulent foods that blend very well together. Luma offers a great selection of wines that should not be underestimated. The same can be compared to the most thorough selections in town. Salud!
Magnificent! Thought dining like this was a thing of the past. Fantastic service, fantastic cocktails, fantastic food, reasonable prices. We weren't rushed out like you are in most restaurants. They were very thoughtful with their service. The food was out of this world. It shows they really care about their food. They thought about food pairing and presentation. They made our anniversary very special, thank you so much. Everything was wonderful and can't wait to go back. At last we found a great restaurant in Orlando. Thank you Luma.
We returned to Luma this time for Orlando's Magical Dining Month, which is a "Restaurant Week" like program that benefits charity. Dozens of local restaurants offer Prix-fix menus.
Luma's food was incredibly on-point. The cauliflower soup was delicious. The salmon was perfectly poached and the root vegetable accompaniments were well cooked and flavorful. The butternut squash ravioli was also great. I enjoyed a nice glass of Albariño with the fish.
The service was technically acceptable, but we were instantly made to feel like second class citizens for asking about the Magical Dining menu. First, the restaurant is not advertising it or mentioning it in anyway. You basically have to be a local who knows. When we asked for the menu the waiter was notable disappointed at the mention of the program. We also noticed that every table around us was immediately brought bread. We were not (didn't ask for any because we didn't want it, but the treatment was duly noted). This is where I'd call things a total service failure. I'd suggest to Luma's management to train their staff on the merits of Magical Dining (both charity and spawning repeat customers) or to drop from the program if the restaurants attitude is that a $35.00 per head Prix-fix isn't worth standard treatment.
Very disappointing, albeit delicious food.
