Conceived with legendary chef and food activist Alice Waters and led by acclaimed chef, writer, and cookbook author David Tanis, Lulu is a shared celebration of good food that is good for the planet. Lulu is a restaurant committed to prioritizing sustainability through local, regenerative food and design. Our mission focuses on procuring food directly from small, nearby farms practicing regenerative organic agriculture, which results in wholesome, delicious food grown using methods that combat the climate crisis.

Our restaurant is named after a wise Provencal cook, Lulu Peyraud, whose cooking and hospitality at Domaine Tempier in Bandol, France has always inspired David and Alice.

Very California setting, in a nice outdoor courtyard at the Hammer Museum. Would recommend the Chicken Milanese and the Stone Fruit dessert!

We always love coming here Would love the recipe for the squash corn with saffron soup. And where do you purchase the pork from so good Oh also the almond rosemary whit the date and Parmesan recipe too plz

Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. Just one example. They came to our table with another tables food 4 times. And managed to send the food meant for us to another table and we had to wait (even longer than we’d already waited due to poor service) for another set of entrees to be made.

We enjoyed our dinner at Lulu. The food tasted fabulous, the ingredients were high quality, and the fusion of creative foods and cultures was interesting and respected the foods and cultures they brought together. The waitstaff may be new—they were friendly and accommodating, but not skilled professionals (not trained like Tam O’Shanter or Musso and Frank’s professionalism). They are NOT prepared for dietary allergies or restrictions, although they did allow some substitutions to try to accommodate. They are Absolutely Not Celiac safe. Food is not labeled for gluten-free or vegan.

Lulu is my go-to place for feeling taken care of while enjoying a friend's company over a meal. I temporarily lose all my existential angst about the fate of the planet and instead revel in the perfectly curated ingredients and friendly beautiful atmosphere. Everything is absolutely fresh and in season, and artfully and wisely prepared and served. The service is state-of-the art. I'm so lucky to have this place in walking distance. I think of it as my third space.

It was an incredible experience! The food was absolutely delicious and everyone was so friendly . All the products were so fresh and all the dishes were well seasoned. I want to go back again very soon .
