Lulu California Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Lulu is always a fun place to take visitors; Tues. evening was no exception. The food was good as always and a great value for what they charge. Service was excellent - not rushed but there when we needed it.
LuLu's is just a great place. It's colorful and lively, fun and interesting, the food is always good, and there are selections for every type of palate. Their drinks are delicious, and the bar has a great happy hour menu - which is All Day. What more could anyone ask for?! It is on the louder side, as this place bustles with activity, and that just lends to the fun atmosphere. Plus - you're right in the mix of downtown Palm Springs. I highly recommend making a stop here at least for one of you meals while in the desert. And if you live here - make it regular spot!
We were really looking forward to a great meal, but unfortunately, the food tasted terribly salty. Meatloaf and pasta dishes were below average. And I was hungry for dinner, but by the time we gulped weak bar drinks, had a tough time putting food away. The mushroom soup was decent and enjoyed the complimentary bread. Service was great so we just ate as much as we could and left without voicing any food complaints when manager asked, "How was everything?"
Service felt rushed at times. Food runners were used, which is great to get the food out, but had to ask them several times for things we needed. Our server went on break and the one who took over, came to ask if he could clear our plates, and then the food runner brought our check. He never asked if we were done or if we wanted another drink. Felt very disjointed. The food was very good and that's the only reason I'd consider returning.
Food is aways great; energetic; fun...someone should tone down the waiters --at least four people approached us asking us if we wanted drinks; then our waiter wanted to tell us about his healthy eating, his history of dieting....too much information.
Have eaten here a number of times. You can’t beat the food & the price during the early bird specials. Very friendly staff.
We were visiting Palm Springs from NJ and LULU came very highly recommended. We got the 3 course $19 dinner special. I LOVED my meatloaf with spicy red sauce and my husband enjoyed his fish dish too. Our waiter (I forget his name!!) was wonderful, funny and professional. We very much enjoyed the cool CALI décor and fun vibe. If we lived closer we would definitely return. We even bought a hat and 3 t-shirts there to remember the experience.
Made reservation weeks and requested to sit down stairs at outside patio. We arrived and they put us up top in a corner... told host about request and she said it didnt say that. They would not accomodate us so we left!! Had my elderly parents with too and it was very busy thats why we made reservation ahead of time. Will never go back to Lulus.
Went for my birthday this time. Last time the service was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive and the place a lot more crowded. This time the staff was not as good. Drinks came during our main course. Bread came at desert after asking for it numerous times. The desert was rushed and was never asked if we wanted coffee or tea with it. Though the food is excellent the staff needs to get a clue. Not a fun birthday dinner like I was expecting. There are far too many restaurants I would rather go to now.
In all honesty I love the atmosphere at LuLus - the location is fantastic for people watching. The service is not always tops (can be slow, can be too-personal, too quickly) but they are accomodating. Dinners are a bit more consistent on good quality - the mushroom soup is fantastic, however, coming for breakfast we both found the coffee super week and tasteless and the meals only average. This was disappointing as we both watned to make it a breakfast regular but there are just too many that have better basic breakfast service. Good, strong coffee at breakfast is an absolute must and it missed the bar.
Been here couple of times and every time we leave, we're always happy and satisfied!! Very friendly staff and great food selections!!!Don't leave Palm Springs without eating here!!
Started with cocktails in the bar area. Margarita was excellent. Waiter could not transfer our tab to the table, but that was ok. I had the braised lamb shanks for dinner, which I very highly recommend. The meat was super tender and just fell off the bone in succulent bites. The next day, we had lunch. The fried calamari was outstanding, light, crispy, delicately seasoned. It is not a quiet venue, so if you are looking for that, there are plenty of other places in Palm Springs. But I definitely recommend Lulu's for a fun night on the town.
Though my own meal was quite simple by my preference, my partner got the eggs benedict , which came out with eggs so fresh, I swear they had chickens laying them in the kitchen, best ever. The service was prompt and courteous, even when we were sat down on a swing shift and our server was about to clock out, he transferred us to another servicer that was on top of his game and there was nothing missed. I will admit when walking into a place that large and seemingly bustling, we were apprehensive about some slacking service, but that was far from our experience. I look forward to coming back.
We love it here but I have to remember not to order a cheese omelet again. I don't understand a slice of cheese on top of an omelet at all. Other than that nice.
Our waiter German provided excellent service, our table had a view as well. Classy place and the food is the best, love the mushroom soup, love everything. My number one place in the desert
The atmosphere of Lulus is fantastic. Great place to have a meal and chat with friends. Service and food is top-notch.
Great place. We often go there when we visit Palm Springs. It’s a great place to people watch.
We met at LuLu for dinner before a play. We had a nice dinner and drinks. Good service (not as good as usual), and great food. Thanks...
After hearing that this was a great place to eat, we found the food to be very bland. I ordered Benedict’s and my wife said she’s never seen me put so much salt and pepper on my food. I had to do the same for my Bloody Mary. The croissant sandwich was average, cheese not melted and the presentation was also very average. This place is a scene so I guess that’s why people like it.
My friend and I went down for the Street Market. Our reservations were at 6:30 and we were promptly seated on the sidewalk side. We both ordered the pork chop dinner and it was tender and very flavourful with the apple maple sauce. The mashed red potatoes were piping hot and the carrot and asparagus were wonderful sides. Waiters were attentive and friendly and polite. We felt our dinner was very good value at 19.99.
When I crave an excellent pork chop there is only one place to go. One of these times I might
order something else ( or not). The service is always exceptional.
Been there many times and will continue to go. This time, the food just was not as good as it has been. It happens. Still enjoy Lulus very much.
The atmosphere is fun, the food is great and the service fantastic once you get in the door. Happy staff.
In Palm Springs for three days. Three lunches and two dinners at Lulu's...excellent!
Not impressed. Mushroom soup and desert were good but entrees were not. Chicken Picato had no flavor and was dry, Eggplant Parm was mushy. Service was not very attentive. Did not live up to the recommendations I had read.
The service was slower than usual on Saturday 10/28/2017. Typically it is very good.
Interesting menu and good food. Efficient and friendly staff.
