Lulu California Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We brought our 96 year old mother by her request. Daniel was our waiter and he was the best. He was patient with her, informative on the dinner choices. He check on us and we never had one time where we didn't feel like we were his only customer. Everyone in the restaurant was so nice and friendly
Both the food and the service were excellent. The fixed price menu is great. Lulu's is a fun place and an outstanding value.
I was surprised at how slow an inattentive the service was, especially since it’s ‘season’ out here. Food was ok, escargot was not great. Our server was nice, but didn’t pay our table much attention. It was not very busy in the restaurant.
Not a reviewer by any stretch of the imagination; however our experience the other night was very disappointing. Our server was good but the food was not good. Our Oysters Rockafeller came out the first time almost uncooked. We sent them back for a second chance and they were not much better. They never reach an acceptable temperature and breadcrumb mixture and flavor was overwhelming. My ribs were tasty but over cooked to the point where they were falling off the bone but mushy in texture. The vegetables were undercooked as well. They took the oysters off our bill which we appreciated but when my wife took the manager aside and expressed our disappointment his comment was, “ what was wrong with them? Well I don’t like oysters and I don’t eat them anyway. “ Bottom line we were sorry we went. Not sure we’d try it again.
Really nice restaurant to eat at with friends looking for the Palm Springs experience. Better on non-weekend and non-holidays as it can get VERY busy which means the restaurant can get VERY loud. But overall a great place and will dine there again soon.
Great vibe, good food, but lacking a bit in service. Went on a busy day, but still slow. Will try again.
Lulu is our fave Palm Springs restaurant. The menu is so varied that it’s hard to select your meal. We take our visiting friends here. This time, our friends who had been here for a month, just loved Lulu and the food.
Servicer seemed somewhat flustered and forgetful. Meatloaf was bland but smoothered in strong BBQ sàuce. Escargot dish was swepted from the table before the last four were eaten. The wine wasn't served until well into our main course and then came as one glass instead of the bottle as ordered. Eggplant was far too rich. Thank goodness we could see some humour in it all and weren't in a hurry.
Upon arriving, the front host station is more preoccupied with the hosts and manager on the phone and typing at their computer instead of the guests who are actually in the lobby waiting to check in.
Overall food quality is what you would find on a cruise ship buffet. The menu is so overly extensive that they specialize in nothing other than mass variety. It’s not bad but it’s also nothing to write home about.
The restaurant and servers could have made a LOT more revenue and tips by checking to see if it’s time for another round of drinks at our table. We finished our drinks by the time the entrees were brought out (food was delivered by “runners” at this place). So the server didn’t stop by till we were almost finished eating. So we passed on more drinks.
After leaving the front lobby was the same chaotic scene of 2 hosts and a manager taking on multiple telephones and typing frantically into the computer. Maybe just put a person in the office in the back to answer phones nonstop. It feels like you’re interrupting the hosts to be seated.
We attended Happy Hour for the deal on food items. All was very good. Service a little spotty but fine anyway and certainly friendly. Thank you!
Awesome spot! Fun, delicious - great prices, lots of choices. Fun ambience. Love this spot
Enjoyed a great dinner with family, food was excellent and good service, Dine here on a regular basis
Fun place. People are nice-hostess, servers, people that go there... food is good-wide variety and they have these 3 or 4 course prix fixe menus which are great deals with a lot of food. Love the setting
When I booked they open table for early thanksgiving dinner. There were inky two times left so I picked noon. Well come to find out thanksgiving dinner did not start until 1pm. No where in the open table site did it say that. So we had sloppy eggs Benedict instead of turkey. Next time I’ll read any fine print if there is any
Great place to eat while visiting Palm Springs. Food and service was very good. We had reservations for 12:00 on Thanksgiving but had to wait a while before being seated. We were offered only the breakfast menu which was excellent.
This is the 4th time we've been to LuLu's and totally enjoyed our experience each and everytime. I'm always telling friends.
We absolutely love this restaurant in every way! Excellent food carefully prepared with cutting edge ingredients and artistic flair. Fun scene in the middle of Palm Springs. All you need now is a jazz combo playing bossa nova.............🌴🌴🌴🎤🎧🎼🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎸
Great dinner once again and again with the best waiter ever, James. He gives amazing service and is very personable. He is a big reason we eat there....had other great people there too but love him the most.
This restaurant used to be a dance club so it also has an upstairs level looking down on the main dining area. It has fresh modern decor and an overall great vibe in a town with mod architecture. The ceiling has sound-dampening so the noise level was quite low despite the open design of this large restaurant. The staff members were very friendly without being intrusive and checking on us every 5 minutes. Mushroom soup was awesome! I would highly recommend LuLu
Lulu's was fun! There were 10 of us celebrating a couple of birthdays. The drinks were fabulous and the food was very good. The ambience is very lively! I cannot remember what everyone ate however, there were no complaints and all the plates were cleaned. I would go back to Lulu's if I am in Palm Springs again.
Lulu's is one of my favorites in Palm Springs. Made a reservation and was seated right on time. I ordered the chicken picatta and it was excellent. One of my friends ordered the sirloin and was pleased and my husband ordered the meatloaf and was happy with his meal. The tiramisu was very good too.
Lulu is always a fun place to take visitors; Tues. evening was no exception. The food was good as always and a great value for what they charge. Service was excellent - not rushed but there when we needed it.
LuLu's is just a great place. It's colorful and lively, fun and interesting, the food is always good, and there are selections for every type of palate. Their drinks are delicious, and the bar has a great happy hour menu - which is All Day. What more could anyone ask for?! It is on the louder side, as this place bustles with activity, and that just lends to the fun atmosphere. Plus - you're right in the mix of downtown Palm Springs. I highly recommend making a stop here at least for one of you meals while in the desert. And if you live here - make it regular spot!
We were really looking forward to a great meal, but unfortunately, the food tasted terribly salty. Meatloaf and pasta dishes were below average. And I was hungry for dinner, but by the time we gulped weak bar drinks, had a tough time putting food away. The mushroom soup was decent and enjoyed the complimentary bread. Service was great so we just ate as much as we could and left without voicing any food complaints when manager asked, "How was everything?"
Service felt rushed at times. Food runners were used, which is great to get the food out, but had to ask them several times for things we needed. Our server went on break and the one who took over, came to ask if he could clear our plates, and then the food runner brought our check. He never asked if we were done or if we wanted another drink. Felt very disjointed. The food was very good and that's the only reason I'd consider returning.
Food is aways great; energetic; fun...someone should tone down the waiters --at least four people approached us asking us if we wanted drinks; then our waiter wanted to tell us about his healthy eating, his history of dieting....too much information.
Have eaten here a number of times. You can’t beat the food & the price during the early bird specials. Very friendly staff.
