Lulu California Bistro Ratings and Reviews
This is a really cute spot centrally located with a patio and plenty of indoor space. There’s a really nice happy hour with an assortment of drinks and appetizers. We ordered the calamari to share which was perfect and done to perfection, served over a cabbage salad with two sauces.
Later we returned for dinner. One of our party wanted to splurge and ordered the steak. This is not the venue to do that as the meat wasn’t up to par. We split a pizza (not hungry due to the appetizer and drinks) and enjoyed the tasty crust and topping (chicken with vegetables).
Our first waiter was excellent, but we were told that he was going on break and was being replaced by someone else who did not have the personality nor the customer service as our original server.
Would we return? Yes, but we would order the less formal choices for sure. The menu offers plenty of tantalizing options.
Reservations for dinner are recommended as this restaurant gets busy!!
We were there Presidents Day Weekend so there were crowds all over. Enjoy!!
Overall, I love Lulu's. But, we have 5 people in our party, two were on the heavy side and we sat in one of the shell booths. It was cramped. The service was a bit slow but I believe it was do to so many people. I have been many times with friends, and I'll be back again.
Wonderful & Fun and a great bargain if you’re looking for one.
Ask for Angela to wait your table. She’s delightful!
Service may seem slow but I’m from New York and New Yorkers hate waiting for anything. Sit back and enjoy the atmosphere and electric vibe LuLu offers.
Crowded, loud restaurant in the heart of Palm Springs. My curry chicken salad was terrific. My husband’s had the fried oysters that were average. Location is great. Service is okay. Food is a mixed bag.
Big wobbly table on the top floor - it was so hot up there - several tables complained about the heat - air conditioning came on once
The table was right next to the server entrance to the kitchen and kept running into our chairs
We were moved to a better table
Everyone enjoyed their food - however our cocktails came after the entrees
I understand they were very busy but they should know by now how to handle a busy night
Had a reservation for 4:45, requesting the patio. Checked in, sat for 15 minutes waiting for a table, and they started leading us inside the restaurant. I stated that I had asked for a patio table, and was told That I could wait, but it would be at least another 30 to 45 minutes. It was a friends birthday dinner, so we left and went somewhere else. Very disappointed in the entire experience.
Once again, our experience with the food, service and overall evening was great! We love this place and will be back again and again!
We do, however, have one ONGOING complaint which is with the front hostess desk. This has happened on all 3 visits...this one was the worst---there were 4 hostesses and a server at the front desk and NOT ONE greeted us because all 5 were "helping" one guest. We waited nearly 10 minutes for us to even be acknowledged. And, it wasn't as though the lobby was busy, this was at 4:00 on Thursday, Feb 15th and there were only 2 of us in line. We are hoping that the management (by the way, which is wonderful) could address the efficiency at the front desk, it would have made our visit a 5 star!!

We are regular customers of Lulu’s. But with Valentines they seemed to let the quality of the food suffer. The arugula salad was far overdue with lots of yellow leaves in it. My salmon plus all on the plate was severely over cooked Too long under the heating lamps. Sauce was completely dried out I received new But my husbands had already finished his when mine came along. Buzzer placed tray in front of our table where he collected dirty dishes etc. with 1/2 eaten food on it. Not pretty site when you try to enjoy your meal and celebrate special occasion. We will avoid special events at Lulu’s.
Valentine's pre-fixe dinner was wonderful - just surprised when the bill came with 20% added and did not note that before we ordered -a bit of a shock to us - as this was an additional $20.00 at least mention it before it never aid tip included on the bill or will be added?? Bad customer service in this area... otherwise we will come back..

Lulu is a long-time favorite of ours so we chose to celebrate our Valentines Day/Wedding Anniversary there. We love the ambiance & people watching from the patio. The restaurant was packed as usual. A couple disappointments during our lunch:
Service was not up to par - our server was inattentive. We had to ask more than once for things like ice & a napkin. My husband had to hunt someone down to have our heater turned off. I noticed nearby tables were having similar problems.
The food was not as good as usual - my omelette was warm/not hot & not cooked thru in the middle. My husband’s pasta sauce was thin & not very flavorful.
Highlights: great cocktails, a free cotton candy dessert for our special occasion & our table on the patio - the best place to people-watch in Palm Springs!
It's a very popular place and it gets crowded, but it's popular for a reason. Not a good place for quiet conversation but great for good food, lively atmosphere and good service.
Our second day back in town I had sprained my ankle and needed some where close by that we could get to i with the wheelchair that our hotel had let us use.. with my husbands Seeing Eye dog in tow. The restaurant staff was very welcoming and helpful. A special thank you to our server Samantha who pushed my chair back across Indian Canyon Drive.. the 3 course meal menu is always a great deal at Lulu’s
Great to watch street people but food was very mediocre and service was thrown at you and most dishes were just passable. Good bar scene and adequate food but not for dining or anyone looking for a nice meal.
Lulu's is an absolute must when in Palm Springs. It's impossible to walk into Lulu's and not feel the energetic vibe. The room is huge with impossibly high ceilings and tons of vibrant colors and art. We both started with the beet salad which was tasty and well-plated and I highly recommend the scallops; which looked like a huge serving that I thought I'd never finish but was so delicious that I cleaned my plate. Hubby recommends the meatloaf which he diplomatically said was very good -- but not as good as mine. Smart husband.
Pork Chop was the worst I've ever had. Fatty and tough. White Pizza...very little gorgonzola cheese and dry. Sloppy presentation. Took :45 minutes for food to come to our table.
Gave it another try. They failed. Food and service is just horrible. Barbara and Jerry Keller need to pay more attention to the quality of food that is being served in this establishment.
It was my second time eating here. The food and service is very good. Love the three course brunch. We will be back again soon.
We were seated right away, although it was a very busy Sunday lunch time. I was happy to see many people were able to bring their dogs to sit on the patio.
I was pleasantly surprised to see an amazing Sunday brunch selection and every item was presented gorgeously and delicious. Highly recommended
